Potato chips, fries and regular ice-cream (every night)...if I eat high protein and limit the other stuff I'm good!!0

Food didn't make me fat. My lack of self control and laziness did. I still eat what I want just in moderation and I started to be more active. I know everyone is different, but I lost 135lbs this way and have kept it off two years so far.0

me and the captain would make it happen. cap n crunch cereal.0

Portion size did it to me. I still eat bad foods but only in moderation.0

white bread, carby foods, cheese etc, iv cut out white bread and dairy and iv never looked back :0)
Amen! They are so easy to eat when you're hungry -- AND when you're not. Goldfish... crackers, chips... oh and when that's done, how about a little ice cream because you blew it anyway...0 -

My weakness is pretzels and basically carbs in general.
When I was in high school, they should sell those big soft pretzels at the end of the day for really cheap.. like 5 for $1. I would buy 10 or so and eat most of them on the bus before I even got home. Not everyday, but still. And for lunch in high school, I would eat only a bagel with cream cheese and a large bag of cheetos. It was really awful. My first year in college I was a bit depressed being on my own in a new country and overate on bagel sandwiches and pizza late at night. Top that with lots nights of heavy drinking and and doing some other bad stuff and I am suddenly up 80lbs.0 -
Cheese cheese and more cheese.0

White bread (love it to this day), candy and baked goods. Yum, yum, yum.
Interestingly enough after I joined MFP I learned two things: 1) I have a sugar addiction (yes, I still indulge in Mountain Dew but make sure it fits into my day's calories now) and 2) the doctor was right...it really does make a difference to sit down and focus on eating versus doing something else at the same time. I used to sit and study or do something else at the same time I was eating and never paid attention to how much I ate or what I ate. But now that I'm limited in calories and food intake, I focus on making every bit count.0 -
Beer! I still drink it, but every once in awhile and never more than 2. cool topic!0

I worked at Cinnabon in the mall for about a year. We were allowed 1 free bun per shift, and I took full advantage of that. :S If I remember correctly it was something like 800 calories, PER BUN! So there was that, but my number one weakness - burgers and fries... McDonalds, A&W, my favourite chip truck... Very shortly before I started eating better, I remember counting 11 days in a row I had burgers and fries for dinner. I counted because I knew it was wrong, but I just couldn't stop myself!!!0

sugar!!! I eat it like the cookie monster! If i stay away from it, i only have issues with alcohol and eating after alcohol (but that can be controlled, i would never eat pizza, maccas, KFC sober) Sugar, I have no control, lol.0
-
All of them... because I ate a lot!0

My biggest problem was portion control, but here are my former favorite high calorie foods. I didn't cut them out completely (for the most part) but I definitely cut back.
1) Super burritos - Mission style, delicious, and probaby 1,000 to 1,400 calories.
2) Giant peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Now I measure/weigh and still enjoy a modified version with natural almond butter and no sugar added jam.
3) The Costco ice cream bars. 840 calories. Even though I used to split them with my ex, that's a ton of calories right there.0 -
I used to put shredded cheese on tortillas, roll them up, and then microwave them until the cheese was melted. Then, I'd dip/scoop them in sour cream. I'd make six for dinner/snack almost every night.
After I joined MFP, I calculated how many calories those were and practically choked. I haven't made them in several months and don't plan to (they're kind of addictive).
I used to drink 60 ounces of regular soda every day. I can't believe how many calories I used to waste on soda. I can't stand it now. After drinking nothing but water and the occasional diet soda, regular is way too sweet for me.0 -
There's no such thing as bad food, just people who eat badly!!
That's not accurate. There are plenty of bad foods that have no nutritional value whatsoever. I agree with your assertion, however. People choose to eat them regardless of the health benefits contained within them, and over time become fat.
Fat does not make you fat. It's an excess of carbs / sugar that create excess fat stores in your body when one's lifestyle is sedentary and does not burn those same calories on a regular basis.
no. its not just an excess of carbs/sugar. you gain gain fat from a calorie surplus, which includes an excess of fat, carbs and protein. there is no single one that will cause you to gain weight if you aren't in a surplus.0 -
