Upped my mileage on my bike ride to 38 from 30 last week. My legs were shot at the end. I think I should have done 34-35 instead.

Went out to dinner at Macaroni Grill with my sister and her peeps. I have to say, I was not particularly impressed with the food. Or the waitress for that matter.

It was supposed to rain during our ride but it waited until this evening. Yeah! Except now it's supposed to rain from now until forever. I can't go on the Sat. bike ride next week anyway as I'm meeting people for lunch in the totally opposite direction. But I was hoping to get in a short ride closer to home before I headed out for luncheon.

P.S. Last year I thought someone had stolen my Boobs. I was lying in bed and they were gone! But when I jumped out of bed, I was relieved to see that they had
just been hiding in my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

p.p.s. Those same thieves come in my closet and shrink my clothes! How do they do it???

    Memaw

Barb, thanks for posting this funny story typed by Memaw.

This reminds me of a friend of mine who told me that one night she was feeling rather amorous and decided at bedtime to remove her pj's and lay on top of the bedding and wait for her husband who was in the bathroom about to come to bed.

She was lying there and adjusted her position on the pillow, making sure that she looked just right for when her husband would walk into the bedroom. She glanced down at her body and to her shock and horror discovered that her boobs were missing too. She found them, hiding under her armpits. She was so upset she quickly jumped out of bed, put her pj's back on and threw her self back into bed, under the covers.

When her husband finally came into the bedroom a short while later, he never knew what had just gone on with his wife. He got into bed and went to sleep.

The poor girl, she should have worn some pretty lingerie instead.

    Morning everyone,

A quick post as I've got to go & feed Granny.

Had a great birthday with my family. Yes, I did eat too much but remember it is just one day!

I've gotten 122 exercise calories out of the way already this morning and had a healthy breakfast so I'm back on track. I usually eat rolled oats with blueberries and walnuts. My Mom only had those little oatmeal packets at her house. It was so sweet I could hardly choke it down and had to add a few peanuts to make it swallowable. Next time I go over there I will pack my breakfast supplies.

The lost boobies story is hilarious!

Debbie: Hooray for for loss and great going not eating cake. Me, this week I'm hoping to maintain. Maybe one of these days I can learn to celebrate my BD with out cake but right now I did enjoy it.

    I'll BBL

    Hello, it's me again,

Well, after my morning coffee I decided to go make breakfast, take my shower and get on with my day.

On my way to the kitchen....I stopped.

That little voice in my head that usually says "mmmm, food, let's eat" was now saying "you know Deb, you could just quickly go for a 1/2 hour walk on the treadmill and THEN have something to eat. After all, weigh in day is just 6 days away."

I was quite startled by this voice that always leads me to temptation.

I decided that I did have time to quickly jump on the treadmill. It was still early and the house was still quiet. So off I went. I grabbed my i pod and starting walking. Well, funny thing happened while I was on the treadmill, I enjoyed the energetic music so much that I stayed (voluntarily) on the treadmill for 62 minutes (had to wait til the song finished on those last 2 minutes).

I checked my heart rate monitor (which I always wear) and realized with great excitement that I burned 382 calories.

Wow! Now I feel charged up and ready to go!

Hmmm, maybe if it's nice out this afternoon I'll go for a lovely winter walk outside.

    Have a great day everyone!

Barb - I'm laughing too loud to read and post. Thank you. That was a scary true story told in an amusing way. I will have to catch up with everyone else's post later when I don't have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

My story doesn't compare, but feel free to laugh or be sad.

Friday when I got home from work my Mom (91 years old) was waiting for me, telling me to come see her right away. I walked back where her and my Dad live. Mom was so happy. She tells me that a miracle happened. She can hear the TV and she didn't have her hearing aid in. She was sure it was a miracle and that God had given her back her hearing. It broke my heart to tell her that some how she had just accidently turned the TV up to FULL VOLUME. Her TV was so loud we could hear it all the way on the other side of our house and out into the garage. She took the news well, but I could tell from her face that she was greatly disappointed.

Football - My two teams won yesterday (Saints and Colts) and hubby's team plays today (Chargers). If his team wins then his team plays my team next week and it will not be a fun game to watch at our house. lol He gets so emotional over it. As long as it is a good game I'm fine with who ever wins in the long run.

Well, it looks like my taxi service is about to begin, so have a great day everyone,

    Jeannie

 Good Morning MFP friends.

 Hubby and I had a wonderful evening at the Victoria Symphony last night ♫. Very enjoyable. It was a Christmas gift to ourselves. Going to concerts is a bit of tricky thing for us, because my husband is severely hearing impaired despite hearing aids in both ears. He used to be a musician and played in an orchestra when he was a youngster. The fact that he has lost so much of the world of sound makes me sad. Nonetheless, he loved it and we later reminisced about the various types of instruments.

Ordinarily we might have gone out for dinner beforehand. We had a healthy home-cooked meal at home instead and parked at my place of work. That gave us opportunity to put in a stiff 15 minute walk before and after the concert.

 Have a great day!

Oh how sweet... I do miss that overly-loud television. My Mom refused to wear her hearing aids and could not understand why no one wanted to sit with her and watch television. We could hear it just fine - out on the porch, upstairs, or out in the yard. Thank you for the sweet memory and grin.

Four days of workouts this week and a 3 lb. loss! My challenge is to do it all again this week. How is everyone doing with their exercise programs? :drinker:

It looks like we are having great success with losing weight. Wonderful. I am stuck at 145 but with my new strength class (where the instructor is trying to kill us) I should see some loss.

How sad (and humorous) the stories about hearing lose and aids. I guess we will all have to face this eventually.

Very impressive ladies with your diligent exercise and discplined eating habits! I have no individual responses since I didn't note everyone's names as I was reeading and too many to read again. Suffice it to say that I enjoyed all the funny and poignant stories. I am also motivated and inspired by you all. I have no excuse when other 50+ women can work out vigorusly and lose so many pounds.
I did make it to the Y 4 times this week for aerobics classes so it's a step in the right direction. I just have to step it up in terms of exercise and counting (limiting) calories. I liked the suggestion about snacking on single items, eg veggie or nut.
That;s it for now. Have a good evening everyone.

:flowerforyou: Zaza, going to the Y four times a week for aerobics is wonderful. Are they one hour classes? The Y usually offers good strength classes, also.

Yes, they are one-hour classes, but some of them are only aerobic for half the time. I havent' done any strength classes because I've had too many aches with various joints. I've done PT etc and I just either live w/it or maybe I'll get a cortisone shot. Did that once in my shoulder and it hurt, but ,after a couple days, i was like new. I've been dragging my heels about trying a shot in my elbow - am too much of a baby.

  • I am so happy to see a website for 50 plus women. I am trying to lose 20 pounds. I have been trying to lose that same 20 pounds for two years. I have started exercising and have been so sore, but I am determined. I go for my first nutrition meeting for the year. It seems so hard to lose weight at this age.

    Robin,
Hang in there! We all know how you feel. Log those cals and exercise and check in during the week. Meeting a nutritionist sounds interesting. What a great way to start. Hope you share some tips with us.
    The best!

    Good evening ladies,
So nice to have so many new people Welcome. Congrats on all the weight losses and good decisions. Kenneth was working so I decided to go to the gym. I worked out for 1 hr and 50 min and burned 1300 calories. Felt so good. Ate really well all day also. Want to really push up the workouts and eating right until our trip. I ate a big salad and roasted chicken for supper. Well under my calories for the day. Going to treat myself to cereal or sugar free pudding later. Have a good evening. Kenneth is taking off tomorrow. Our kids dont have school for MLK so we are going to do something special. Made a deal with myself though. Have to go workout before doing anything.

    Hello All,

I haven't left our group my mother is sick again she has been in ICU for 8 days so far. She is very weak and I am very sad. I will be back as soon as I can my goals are to get through and be there for my mom and dad as much as I can they live in another state. I have brought their dog home with me so my dad has one less thing on his plate. I stayed with him for 6 days looked like my mom was better and they would move her to the floor then she had a bad set back. Went to visit today she was a little better but is so frail it is so hard to see your mom so frail. I know many of you have been where I am please keep me in your thoughts and prayers I will be back as I can.

Lynn - I will be praying for you. Hang in there!

Just got home from visiting my brother and sister in law for the weekend. I had a good time, but weighing tomorrow kind of scares me. I think that I did ok staying under my calories, but wasn't eating the right kind of foods. My sister in law is a cookie factory, and she serves 3 or 4 varieties of carbs at every meal. Here's hoping for the best, because I worked hard this week, but even if I don't lose, I will be okay with it, because I don't do well when eating junk instead of real food. Hope everyone is having a good weekend, and I will check in tomorrow!

Lynn - Hang in there - it's never easy to see your parents failing and it's great that you can be of help to them.

Weigh in tomorrow - I'm hoping the scale will move down for me!

A special "hello" to our new people!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: You will love it here!

I've been busy rearranging rooms and it is mostly done. My son has a room now and mine will be finished next week when we get some wardrobes from Ikea to use as a temporary wall for the bonus room (my room now:smile: ).

Still have some things to go through and donate or just toss but I'm glad its almost done!

I have been able to get my exercise in, though the extra workouts I planned had to go by the wayside for a week or so:grumble: .

I've also been drinking lots of water--that has been getting easier as I find I feel thirsty more often. I was told that my body is adjusting to a new level of fluids and so wants it more often!.

I am praying for those who are having tough times right now. My thoughts are with you.:flowerforyou:

Your Mom along with you and your family will be in my prayers ... yes, I was there just this past summer. So I understand the sadness - still there with it.

Recording everything you eat on here will REALLY HELP though. I am positive I would not have had so much success without doing that.

Sorry about everyone dealing with aging parents. I do think that is reality for us in this age group, but that doesn't make it any easier. My mom still works and goes to the gym to workout but she has Hepatitis C so I know she'll be gone at some point. Having that in the back of my mind causes me to freak out a bit when I hear about other parents in the hospital and ailing. It reminds me of what I'd rather forget.

But, on the happy side, I went to see Avenue Q with my son and when I came home, Mr. Mac had set up a station for my old bike so I can ride it at home when I can't ride outside. He dug out an old rug that we weren't using any more to protect the floor so it's a very inviting area too. I hate riding my bike in the trainer so having this station is really going to help.

I made Facebook Page for my blog, btw. I'm inviting you all to become a "fan"

:flowerforyou: clwasmer, welcome. Glad to have you in the thread. I don't know of a weigh-in date. Maybe someone else here will have that answer. So sorry about your thyroid problems. They can make our weight and energy hard to control. Hope that you get your meds straightened out. My sister had a sluggish one when she was a child. She gained quite a lot of weight due to it. Meds help her, though.
