I have an embarrassing question.... Im a big girl (220) and just started walking and hopefully will be running soon. Anyways, my first walk has already caused me to have a rash in between my thighs from the rubbing (I was wearing shorts). This happen to others? And what helps this go away fast, and what prevents it?!

Not embarrassing at all, and I'm surprised it hasn't cropped up earlier. I talked to my doctor about this very issue, and she told me to go fetch three products: pHisohex (or any antibacterial body wash - ask your chemist), tea tree oil cream, and a specialist anti-chafing powder. Wash the area every shower with the antibacterial stuff and put the cream on when you get out of the shower, and before exercise put on the powder. Works wonderfully.

I'd add that getting an area like that THAT warm and irritated is also a huge risk of ingrown hairs, blocked follicles, all that jazz. Additional reason to beeline for the antibacterial wash. It's good stuff.

I spend all my summers with 3/4 length tights under my dresses and skirts - even when I was thin (I'm knock-kneed, so my thighs always touch). Better than the very painful alternative :(

Off topic but often knock knees can result from and anterior tilt on your pelvis and depending on circumstances can be lessened with musculoskeletal work ... (just incase anyone wanted to know that random fact haha, sort of my field)

thank you! yeah, I've talked to my physio about it and he's given me some exercises. Grrr, Dad gave me his big knock-kneed treetrunk legs

Someone once told me that if you throw up your food you still consume about 60% of the calories and that is why people with bulemia are not skinny like people with anorexia in general.

I'm sorry but I don't see how this is physically possible.
Unless they are referring to the amount I food that doesn't actually come out. And the minor digestion that would occur before the food comes out which is minimal.

    * that sounded like I was criticizing when I re read it.. Didn't mean for it to come across like that :)

    New question!

Will I always see myself as fat? When will I adjust? I've been in the normal range for over a year (had a break but remained normal, went up a bit in the range though) and I still see myself as a fat person.

It's different for everyone. When I was a freshman in college, I lost about 45 pounds. It took me a few years to stop reaching for the wrong size clothes, bumping into things, etc. I just had no concept of my new size for quite a while. It took more years than that to actually feel like a thin person instead of thinking anyone who said I was must have recently escaped from an institution.

A while yet then I think. I'm a UK 10-12ish and I still go and pick up the 18-20's and then wonder why they don't fit. It's ridiculous, you'd think after doing it once or twice that I'd get the right size, but no. Also have problems leaning against things, I still try and accomodate my fatness and just sort of fall forwards with a jolt because I'm standing too far from the surface.

I only shop online now and I put the right size into the basket, I can't face going into an actual shop again yet, I feel like the other shoppers and workers will laugh at me if I pick the smaller sizes (I know that this is all in my head and that they don't actually laugh at me).

I'm nearly the opposite and I hate it because I think it would be more motivating if I felt as big as I am ( sometimes I do but then I get all depressed about it)
But I put on weight really really rapidly and hadn't been overweight till about 1.5 - 2 years ago and only as big as I am now like this year.
I think now that I'm being more open about the fact I'm actually obese is helping though and I really want to get back to how I once was.

It;s a Non Scale Victory. We get so caught up with the scale sometime that we dont consider other improvements - like buying smaller size clothes, running a mile without stopping, fitting into your wedding dress again - whatever victory you have that is not based on what your scale says

I had this problem at first, I think it has to do with your body actually using more of what you're ingesting so it doesn't "get rid" of as much as you're used to?

how much fat have you been eating? If barely any that may be your problem, however if that is your problem don't eat too much fat, because that could cause the runs.

Why is it we are now told to 'love our curves' that is 'ok to be a BBW' or that skinny models are frowned upon yet a fat model is ok? Since when did it become acceptable to be overweight (nobody has bones THAT big) yet being underweight is a no no

I think this is a very good point. Its like everything's gone so far in the direction of 'not making people feel like they have to be model thin' that it's almost promoting obesity.
Someone told me yesterday that there are more obese people in the world then those in poverty ??!
I'm guilty of being very overweight. I'm here to change that.

That is exactly why I am here as well :) no way on earth I ever loved my fat, nobody can say they are 100% happy with being overweight at all. I've worked damn hard at losing my fat so then I can love my body 100%...cause I will know that I am not only healthy but not obese.

Well losing all the weight you want and all the fat doesnt mean you will love yourself 100%. I know small people who are still not happy with their weight. Personally I think I was happier with all weight I had lost but now its always about what I eat how many calories I burn, things that didnt matter before.

Ok. Honestly you need to go see some of your local estheticians for a good cleansing and moisturizing facial at least once a month then as needed. It will make a huge difference. They will also have loads more of information for you. My best suggestion is to find a local school around. I hope that will help. Or if you don't want to spend the money you need to make sure that your face is wet before applying any moisturizer to your face. You need water on the surface in order to trap it in.

Try settings (Top of page above the blue toolbar, then change the chnage to english or metric setting, see if that helps
