debnu1, almomay: Thank you both for your insightful advice! I will take you up on it. I'll take a closer look at the fiber my body is getting. yes, almomay - I do take a supplement with iron, and I also take a standard just iron pill. A couple of years ago I was found to be very anemic, from then on I have taken iron pills daily. I understand the constipation iron can cause, I focus on drinking a lot of water to get things moving. I've always had a problem with going to the bathroom often enough. But I haven't truly focused on the food I'm eating and the amount of fiber I'm getting. So I'll work on that. Thanks again.
smadag1 - the TOM does crazy things to us. From one extreme to another. So glad that you are on a happy extreme now!
j_g4ever - You are doing a great job!! Despite the frustration with the scale, you continue to keep on moving and eating healthy. You haven't given in!! High Five to you!! :drinker:
I am proud of my self this morning because I woke up early and did a 30 day shred workout before work. I am still planning to head to the gym after work as well. I think the AM work out gave me a little more energy to start my day.
Here's to another healthy, happy day Blues!!0 -
Did not get my run in last night, by the time I made dinner and put laundry aways plus did the dishes it was too late and I was exhausted. Oh well I will plan on doing something tonight.
What kind of snacks do you guys eat that keep you satisfied between meals? Right now I drink and Ensure for my morning snack but I just found Kellogs special K protein drinks so I am going to give them a try but my worst snacking urges come in the afternoon around 2:30-3pm. I am still trying to controll my snacking while I am bored but I know that will take time and will power.0 -

-100 cal popcorn
-apples
-bananas
-yogurt with 1/2 cup of fruit (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)
-Light string cheese
-Special K Crackers--Italian Tomato and Herb
-mini packs of raisins
+ Lots of water with each :drinker:0 -
I just said NO to the donut
One of our salesman brought in donuts, my original reaction was to go get one but I fought it and now i don't want one. I started thinking about all the sugar and junk that goes into making them and they just don't sound good anymore.
I am now going to drink my choclate Ensure0 -
feel free to check out my diary. I like to have a carb paired with a dairy or protein serving. A banana and PB, nuts with raisins and a few dark chocolate chips, yogurt mixed with cottage cheese. That sort of thing. The interesting thing I have really found is that if I am sure to have protein with my breakfast I am less hungry the rest of the day. I also try to spread my meals out so i know that every three hours I can eat, by doing that and eating a later lunch--around one, I am much more satisfied. I used to get really hungry between 2 and 5 where nothing seemed to satisfy me and then I wasn't hungry for dinner. Now I find that I am just hungry enough for dinner and not starving before hand. Any way. My two cents. :flowerforyou:0

Taradise - I did a cleanse once ... I can't remember what it was called, but it's the one where you drink water with maple syrup, lemon and cayenne pepper. Disgusting! You're also supposed to drink a big cup of warm sea salt water in the mornings to "get things moving," but I could never get it down. In the evenings, they recommended an herbal laxative tea - preferably chocolate. I tried that and don't recall it really working, per se, but it was actually pretty tasty. You might want to try that just for a little extra help!! :flowerforyou: When I did the cleanse, my body was still around 280 pounds and in the worst shape ... so I think that may be why the herbal tea didn't work. Good luck!!
Well ... I did a bad thing this morning. I have been stressed about the possibility of losing my job this summer ... I work for the government and we're facing $4.5 million in budget cuts from the state. So, I felt it building all week ... each day I just felt *so* hungry ... and I've fought it off every day except for today. This morning I wanted to eat everything in sight. And, I did a pretty good job of it, too!! In addition to my wheat bread, egg, fiber one yogurt and cream of wheat, I also had ........ cheese, salt and vinegar potato chips and vanilla wafers. I've added my food up for the day and cut out a couple things. I was planning to workout this evening to the tune of about 400 calories, but it looks like I'll have to double my workout to make up for my binge this morning. :frown: And, ya know what? I don't feel any less stressed ... lol0 -
smadag1 - great job saying No!!! You didn't let that donut beat you. High Five!
lcorrell14 - thanks for the info. That certainly doesn't sound like something I want to do. I've decided to take a closer look at the macro-nutrients I am getting. Sorry about all the stress you've had. But I will commend you for tracking your food, and making up for it with exercise. We are human, we make mistakes.
So after looking at my nutrients in my food diary. I noticed I am way over on Sodium. Dang it! I tracked it down to the packaged lunch meats I have on my sandwich everyday. I hadn't realized how high in sodium they were. Ok, well I love having a sandwich for lunch, so I need some low sodium sandwich ideas. I found two so far:
-homemade egg salad (1 hard boiled egg, 1 Tbsp light sour cream) sandwich
-Avocado and tomato sandwich
Do you all have any other sandwich ideas that are low sodium??0 -
lcorrell- I know how you feel about the job stress. What I can say is to pretty much treat your body well and get lots of good nutrition, exercise, sunshine and water. I tend to eat more when I'm stressed. The economy is so tough nowadays so I know how you feel. We are here for you!
smadag- Right now my favorite snack that holds me for 2-4 hours is to take 2 Quaker rice cakes (salt free) and spread 2 TBSP of almond butter. It has healthy fats, has fiber, protein, whole grain in the rice cake, and yummy!!!
debnu- I also eat every 3-4 hours because if I don't I notice that my blood sugar dips and I get hungry, nervous, and when I get so hungry I am at a point that I'll eat anything in front of me without thinking. What I do is to have 3 main meals a day and snacks in between.
Taradise- Great job on your AM workout. By the way, I've been anemic all my life. I'm looking forward to getting a physical and seeing if it's gone now.
So I'm back to working out in the AM and got up at 6:00am this morning. I ran in the treadmill 30 mintues, 10 on elliptical, and 30 minutes of strength training, and I'm about to do 15 minutes of Ab ripper x from p90x.
Have a great day team!!!0 -
I didn't eat protein with my breakfast today and I am dragging! I am going to have to pay more attention to see if it makes that difference everytime. I have a lot to do and I just don't want to do anything. I have been getting up earlier and exercising too. It makes a big difference in my day if I exercise first thing in the morning.
HOpe you are all having a great day! :flowerforyou:0 -
Hello all! I have been very busy, but I am home tonight. I'm glad too, because we are having a blizzard. Anyway, I'm doing well. I have stayed under my calories daily, and I've been swimming regularly, and gradually increasing the intensity of that.
For anyone who sees my statuses, and saw today that I have not logged in for 3 days, I say RUBBISH! I have been on here every morning and every night, so don't worry about me "needing encouragement!" As Mark Twain said, reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.
Hope you all are doing well also. Here's to smart choices!0 -
I have a Tanita scale the measures weight, % body fat and % hydration. The more I work out, the % body fat may show the change, but the weight may not move. I generally take my hints from the scale for how much water to drink. It's fairly consistent in the measurements. Hope this helps.0

Mornin all
I did jillians banish fat last night and did all 50 minutes. That is the first time to do it all the way to the end. I did have to stop a couple times at the end becuase the jumping was making me sick. Not sure how I did on cals because I logged that I was going to do 60 minutes on the elliptical but changed my mind. I think I got a better workout doing the dvd
I am thinking of geting p90x can anyone give me a little info about it0 -
I don't have time to read back thru but I realized I haven't said Hi - so Good Morning - I'll catch up later.0
-
smadag- I have the p90x videos, but I didn't purchase it, I got it from a friend, so I have the copies. I love it!!!!!! It's got a ton of dvd workouts ranging from, cardio, plyometrics, kenpo(kinda lick kickboxing). And on top of that it has tons of dvds that you can do with weights at home. It's like your gym away from home, and all you need are the weights. It's not just a program for losing weight, it's a program for losing body fat and gaining muscle. But, women don't gain muscle in a nasty way. It really tones your body and gives you that definition to have a "beachbody". Don't be intimidated with the male body images, because women do not get buff from doing this. They get lean and toned and have lean muscle. I'm doing it myself to tone my body because I have noticed alot of the workout videos focus mainly on cardio, but I want to lose weight in a balanced way and have a toned body with no gigglys.
Here's the site: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/p90x.do?code=P90XDOTCOM
Wow, I just looked at the beachbody web site and noticed there are tons of other programs besides p90x on there. But here on MFP I just here alot of people doing the P90x program and there are even coaches here.0 -
Good Day Blues! I woke up early again today and did level 2 of the 30 day shred. That DVD really gets me sweating in that 20 or so mins. I am still planning to go to a boxing class tonight... which will be good. I've been a bit stressed and frustrated at work... wanna work out all that tension.
almomay - thanks for all the info on p90x. I may look into that sometime.
smadag1 - great job with the workout last night! High Five!
Canaday - I've never had a scale that measure body fat. Interesting idea. I did put some 5 lb weights on my scale this morning... it measured the 5 lb weight as 5.2 lbs. So my scale is pretty close - maybe not time to get a new one just yet.
msh0530 - keep up the swimming!! great job!0 -
smadag- Here's a link to a group here in MFP for p90x.

Off to a good start today, did my Wii fit, getting ready to make ham and beans for supper and some homemade granola bars. It snowed enough here that I got my wish – no school today, so I will be able to spend at least part of the day in the sewing room! Happy Kansas Day to anyone else who has Kansas roots, Happy Friday to all, and here’s to smart choices!0

Good morning. It''s been an interesting one so far. I took my daughter to the doctor last night as she had huge tonsils--she has strep and probably has for a week. Now I think my son may have it too--we are going in this morning. Hopefully DH and I don't have it too. So much for my day routine.
I am struggling with staying on plan today, but I know I can do it. Even though my exercise was cut short.
Have a great one.0 -
Definitely back to basics for me....since I haven't exercised since Tuesday - hopefully I'll be ok to do something tomorrow even if it's walk in the snow (or go sledding since it's gonna snow)
Watching food closely--first day in a LONG time but yesterday was a disaster...over it and focused on today. BTW if you haven't tried Dominos new Pizza-DON'T it was way too good! With the week I've had I chalked it up as a let my hair down day and I am back to the real me again today!0 -
Hello Blues!!
Hopefully everyone is ready for a good, strong weekend! I just got home from an awesome step aerobics class! It was only 6 degrees this morning & I hated leaving the house & hated even more taking my girls out, but I'm so glad that I did! We had been in the house a little too much this week! I didn't realize until I got there that I forgot my HRM - grrrrr!! I hate when that happens. I'm estimating on the low end at 350 cals burned as I did have to stop to take my oldest to the potty for a couple of minutes.
I've been doing really great with my workouts & eating this week - until last night - I had 2 bowls of honey bunches of oats!! I am so addicted to that stuff!! But, it's good to be back on track & I'm hoping to show a loss on the scale this week!
Make it a great day!!
 Sandy0 -
So I didn't tell you guys the funniest part of my morning workout. Since it snowed, I didn't put my dog outside, and she watched me workout for the first time. She added to the experience, but not necessarily in a helpful way. For the first ten minutes, she just tried to get me to play with her, as she saw no other reason for the activity that I was doing. After that, she gave up and decided that she wanted to lay at my feet. Well, she kind of overlapped on the Wii balance board, so that was also less than helpful! Anyway, she was really cute and made me smile. Hope all are having a great day!0

Our puppy LOVES to help me workout when I do it at home...ab work is a real hoot since you're laying on the floor....I get lots of sloppy kisses!0 -
msh0530- That's very cute. For me it's my 17 month old who thinks I'm playing with her. When I'm jumping around she starts jumping and thinks were dancing. I sometimes crack up in the middle of a workout. When I'm doing abs, she thinks my stomach is a mat and sits on top of me. Little things like this I guess make it all worth it.
debnu- Hope your daughter and son feel better.
Today is one of those days where I'm just having a hard time with things because of lack of motivation and just thinking about issues. But I'm pushing myself and will be doing Jillian Michael's banish fat boost metabolism and ab ripper x for a total of 65 minutes. And on top of it, I weighed myself this morning and saw no change. I just don't understand sometimes, maybe tomorrow it will move.
Keep on going beautiful blues!!!!!0 -

Lexi helped me work out last night too. she was either laying on me during crunches or under me during push uos. and why is ti when we get hot and sweaty they want to lick us more :laugh:0 -
We had a birthday lunch for my boss today. I did indulge :blushing:
But, I also joined a group that is going to do Zumba classes twice a week after work.
Have a great weekend bb's. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
Found this in someone else's post, and it was interesting. If anyone is cooking for one, there is also a free downloadable Shop once, eat for a week link on it also. I actually thought it was good to look at even though I cook for two or more, I could adapt some of the ideas on it.
