My husband and I were trying to pick names for our first child. We had a girls one picked and needed a boys. I had one I liked but he liked BROC. I told him if we named our child that I would put the middle name as LEE. (That's all I could think of when he said that name.) I did win with my choice for a boy. Thankfully our second child was a girl. Sorry to all the Brocs out there.

I have 8 kids. We have some with common names and some more unique. We have a Jakob (spelled with a k not a c). He loves telling people, "I'm Jakob with a K". I thought Levi was unique until recently. Our youngest is Uriah...haven't met any other ones with his name....yet!

  • I have two kids and my husband and I have very plain names (Amanda and David). We wanted to be different, but not absurd about it with you first we went with Tobias. We were told, after finding out I was pregnant again that it was a girl we decided on using a version of my middle name as hers and came up with Tessa Nikole (Nichole being my middle name) but the day your second baby was born things changed.... because it was another boy. We spent two days in the hospital trying to thing of something when it took us three months to decide on a girl's name. Finally we decided we liked the name Titus, but we also knew that having the first three letters spelling a female body part we couldn't leave it spelt that way... so we made it as phonetically correct as we could and spelled it Tydus.

My name is Lenneah, pronouced Lyn-ay-uh. I actually like my name, and don't really care that no one can pronounce it.
My name is Linnéa, pronounced pretty much like yours. It's a very common name here in Sweden, where it means Twin flower.

My last name is after a tree so my full name means flower tree. Awesome.

I worked with a lady who claimed that her best friend's childs name was pronounced something like Or-an-gelo. Spelled Orangejello (Orange-Jello). Supposedly her favorite food.

I think I picked good names for my kids, but my daughter thinks I am way off with that.
My daughter is Catherine, named for Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia. My son is named Gregori, named for Gregori Orlov, one of the men who killed Catherines husband so she could rule.
My daughter says it is wrong that I named her and her brother for lovers. But I think they are both really great names.

I had some friends who named their son Xavier, which in itself is a good name, but they named him after Professer X on the X-men. :ohwell:

    Gay Kitchen Cummins.

I'm pretty sure she was married and that Cummins was her husband's last name.

I went to school with a Candi Pusey.
I'm dead serious. Every time they called her name on the announcements, we would all blush and giggle.

My sister's name is Taryn. When my mom told my great-grandmother what she'd named her, she heard it as Karen. When she tried to explain "no, T as in TOMATO" my grandma freaked and said "WHAT?! YOU NAMED YOUR KID TOMATO?!"
...Old family inside joke ever since.

In HS I knew a Sunshine Dairy and a Shasta Peak. My parents had friends with a daughter named Chanda Leer. My sister went to elementary school with a boy named Mickey Mouse. The kids in his class would call him Mick or Mickey because they didn't want to make fun of him. Well his mom came to the school and explained that he would be addressed as Mickey Mouse because that was his name. They had like 6 kids and they let the syblings name him.

I knew a guy whose first name was Doctor. He wasn't a medical doctor, but everyone called him "Doc". A bit confusing when I was a kid!

I used to teach swimming and met two sisters; one was called Mona Lisa, the other was called Snow White.
  • My son's friend's grandmother's name was Anita Wiener (sounds a lot like "I need a wiener"). A friend said she was glad she didn't have that name, because with her maiden name included it would be Anita Long Wiener :-)

I think my kids have fairly normal names, but I did name one of my daughters Connor. It just suits her. Her middle name is Elizabeth just in case she grew up hating having a boy's name. So far she likes it. :)
