I just found out I am going to be a grandma. This baby will have alot of grandmas and great grandmas. I want to go by something else, so it won't be so confusing. What have you heard grandmas called?

Goggie (often shortened to Gog)
Gommy
GG (that's great-grandma)0 -
My kids and nieces and nephews all call my mom "Hamma", because the oldest couldn't say "Grandma" when he was learning to talk...other than that, we always use "Grandma"...I have always preferred "Nana", but it best be a long while before I have to think about it!! LOL0

I called my Czech grandmother Babi (pronounced Bobby).0

do you have any pets? when I was a kid I had lots of grandparents and as they were all called nanny, to differentiate they became nanny 'insert pet's name' so nanny chico, nanny suki, nanny bossie, except the one that didn't have a pet was nanno or nannio and although her husband passed away before I was born i hear that my mum used to call him daddio (they were my great grandparents)0

As a child, I always called my grandparents "Grandma/Grampa __fill in last name here___"--rather formal, but we lived far away from extended family.
But I also had a "Meema" and as a teen we lived closer to one set of grandparents and "granny" and "gramps" came up a lot.0 -
my son is right around a year and 1/2.
my mother - mawmaw
my grandmother - gama
my other grandmother - nana
my son picked what to call them lol0 -
my mom is NeeNee... odd i know... but when my oldest daughter was 1 1/2 or so, she used to just scream nee nee all the time and we had no idea what she was talking about, turns out she was referring to my mom. It just stuck, now both my girls call her that and my oldest is almost 4
husband's mom is nana, but they don't hardly see her at all. My grandma is great-nee-nee0 -
I call mine Nan0

I call mine Gram or Gramma.
My daughter calls my mother Mom, but that was an accident. My BF's mother is Mimi to her grandkids.
And my grandfather is Grandpa. To my daughter, he's Big Grandpa and my father is Little Grandpa.0 -
MeMa
My daughter wasnt able to say grandma when she was younger, so she started calling her grandmothers "Mema"
MeMa Ona
MeMa Sheila
MeMa Sue
I think its kind of cute
She can now say grandma but sometimes still prefers to call them MeMa0 -

My daughter calls my step-mom and MIL "Mamaw" - I'm not a huge fan of the name, but the older grandkids (on both sides) had already started using it, so it stuck. Her first babysitter, who is like an adopted grandmother, is also Mamaw.
My mom is "Grandma" - my daughter is her only grandkid, so we got to pick the name :bigsmile:0 -
My side calls them grandma; his side, mamaw. (Yankee living with a Rebel)0

In my oldest son's dad's family, it's abuela. Doh! Thanks for reminding me.0 -
I am a grandmother to five (#6 on the way)........
@ the beginning, I went by the generic "GRANDma"
but as my relationship with all of them grew, each set of grandkids
started their own a term of endearment
One set calls me "Grandma Loves Me"
and the other calls me "Gummie"
THOSE names are the most special= when they're ones *they* pick, not me.0 -
