We are generations of "Nana"s - no grandmas in my family. When my daughter had kids I became Nana and I tried to get my mom to take on Grandma or even G-Nana. She would have no part of it, so she is "the other Nana" if my grandkids are with me and I am "the other Nana" if they are with her! When we are all together we are both just Nana..........

    My mother: Grandma
My stepmother and my father: Nana & Papa
My inlaws: Oma & Opa (they're German)
  • Nana ( My Mom picked this because she felt it was a "younger" sounding grandma name - she was a grandma at a very young age ) And, it fits her.

    Grandma - is my MIL.

Mom-Maw - is my grandma that lives in the country.

i called my grandmother "abuelita" but im mexican.
my kids call my mom "abuelita" one of the few spanish words they know...sigh
and they call my witch in law "Nana"...she did try the "mum-mum" thing but it wasnt happening. there is only room for one mom, mum, or how ever u wanna pronounce it in their life. so we went with nana.

My grandmother were "Grandma (Last Name)". When my mother became a grandmother she refused to be called the same thing as her mother in law so she picked "Nana" and my dad is "Papa". The other Grandpa is "Papa Dan". My Great-Grandmother was "Ma".

I always just called my grandma "grandma."
I had a "nana," but I never really knew her.

My husband/his brothers are hilarious. They had two grandmothers, one close by and one in Alabama. They call their grandmothers "mommom." The one in Alabama was always "mommominAlabama." That was the full name.

We just met their grandfather for the first time, and they've taken to calling him "GrandpappyOldReliable," due to an inside joke. :P

    Nana :)
  • Grandma for my maternal's side.
I don't speak to my paternal side's grandmother so I refer to her as "dad's mom" or Priscilla.
