I have lost almost 80 pounds and it has taken me about 5 years to get here with numerous starts and stops but I wouldn't change my journey one bit because I have done a lot of growing in that period of time. Here are some photos...

November 2006, granted I was 8 months pregnant at this point but still extremely overweight at almost 300 pounds.

On my MFP journey, I've lost almost 45 lbs in 8 1/2 mos. Slow but steady. In the past 9 mos, I've lost 55 lbs.

In a grand total of my weight that I've kept off in just under 8 1/2 years, I'm at 197 lbs lost. I've been lower than this, but I'm happy at this weight.

61 lbs in 355 days on MFP - and pretty much all through just diet as I have problems exercising.
  • I lost 40 pounds in 4 months, but that was because I did the medically supervised HMR diet. Been in maintenance mode for about a month. Loving the results. Sticking to my plan 100%.

I've lost 68 since July of this year. Aiming to hit that 75 pound mark by Christmas. I started with exercising and keeping a food journal, and then started here on MFP and it has been amazing! I now workout every day, although I do let myself take it easy once in a while. I TOTALLY cut out fast food, and pretty much cut out alcohol and pop with the exception of a very rare drink. I also disconnected the TV in my living room so I wouldn't be tempted to be a couch potato every evening. Having supportive friends who wanted to workout with me was a huge plus! I still have about 41 pounds to go to hit my first major goal, and then I'll reassess and see where I want to go from there!

Took me about 5 months to lose the first 40 pounds, from 247 to 207. Almost exactly in line with MFPs 2 lbs a week.

I've lost 106lbs since March 2012. Highest weight 280lbs (picture I'm about 270lbs) and current weight 173lbs (taken a few days ago in the black outfit). I have about 40-45 more pounds I would like to lose to be in the normal healthy BMI range.

Started at 243. lost 51 since June 2012. Had lost first 44 of that in 4 months. I don't know how to post pics, but went from size 22 pants to currently 12. less than 1 more to graduate out of the obese category.

  • 10 Months.
Lost the first 30 in 6 months, took a break and then lost the final 10.
It will depend on how close you will be to your goal weight when you lose the 40.
If you're super heavy, you'll drop it much sooner.
For me, all I needed to lose was 40. =)
Good luck! Here's what I looked like after my 33 lbs.

About 8 months of ketogenic dieting to lose 40lbs (222 to 182), then added some intermittent fasting and couch 2 5k and HIIT to get down to 164ish. I've crept back up because holidays, to about 174.

I lost 260 lbs in 24 months. I've kept it off since this past winter, and I've been working adding lean mass.

Yes I have. I began my journey at the end of July 2011 but didn't get REALLY serious about it until September-ish to October-ish 2011. Then began faithly logging on here and not missing a day at the beginning of this yr. So that means 17 months and (ALMOST) 50 lbs gone! I have 0.2 to go to officially say 50 pounds! Still have about 40 more to go. Good luck to everyone!
