    Happy April!

With all this talk about weather, I feel I have to pipe in. It's been in the 70s all week, sunny and breezy. It's been perfect for the hours I've been spending outside with my horse. We typically do not see weather this warm until May here in Minnesota, so we're enjoying it before Mother Nature decides to play a nasty trick on us. It's supposed to rain this weekend but stay fairly warm. I'm just dreading it getting colder again. We also can experience every season in one day and the mantra, "If you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes" is often true. It's really hard to pack for being away from home, even for a weekend!

Littlespy: Congrats on fitting into those kids/juniors clothes. I would never have thought about trying them on but from now on, I will! I think it's awesome that you've gotten such wonderful compliments. We never see our own progress as much as others see it, so keep up the awesome work. It must be all of the fidgeting you do!

Bluenote: I WISH my horse would come to me if I whistled for her. She's a stubborn one who doesn't like the lead rope, so it takes a while to halter her and bring her in from the pasture. I blame the Mustang in her! Oh, and I'm glad the tea worked for you.

Lildebbie: Congrats to your hubby for getting the job! Yay! I'm glad you found a dog that won't upset your allergies. They're a nice breed; I had a coworker that had two and they were such funny critters. She got them because of them being hypoallergenic. Her son had allergies and they lived in a small townhome.

Jesyka: Way to go on spending time outside at the park with your daughter. I'm so glad you have more energy to keep up with her! Remember that if you ever get frustrated with the numbers on the scale...the quality of life is so much more important than the numbers!

    Checking in for yesterday:
    Calories: Over by 260
    Water: 24 oz.
Exercise: Walking in the pasture with my horse for an hour (didn't count the calories because it was such slow walking)
Proud: I went to bed early when I wanted to stay up late and read.

    Have a fantastic day!

    Hi girls

    Checking in for yesterday 3/31/10:
calories- under by quite a bit
    water- yes
    sodium- 1595
excercise- none- havent done any this week
    proud- I dont know

I was looking at the gym results for BL and it turns out that they only list the top 8 at each gym, and that I SHOULD have been #7 at our gym! I emailed them to find out what happened and it was a mistake on their part...so yay!! I made the list and I wasnt last! lol

I kindof felt lame afterwards for bringing it up but I feel like I worked really hard for that number last week ...so I dunno, whats done is done and I am happy I made it!! This week is not looking good though! booo!

Having the lil one with me at home while trying to type this takes forever long, like 30 mins to write a short post...dont know how you SAHM do it!! kudos!

Jesyka - good for you on your lost inches.
    LilDebbie - I need a nap too ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Cris - good for you on your BL 7th place ... and for making them correct it!

I have had a bad week. I have only tracked my calories and exercise sporadically all week ... I am exercising the bare minimum ... and eating horribly (binges and 'treats').
I mentioned before that I have been dealing with a stressfull work issue:angry: - it is on hold right now but not fixed - so still going on but at least I have a few minutes to catch up on some other things.
We had to apply for renewing a line of credit that we haven't been able to pay off in the 3 years it was set up for - it was at a great interest rate so I just kept using that money whenever we owed somewhere else. I was told that the requirements for qualifying for this line of credit are much harder now, and we have more debt ... so I've been back and forth to the bank every day this week with more info and copies of all our stuff - but luckily we have a good credit rating (even if we have too much of it) so after a very stressful week of wondering what we were going to do - they finally agreed to renew the line of credit (but at a worse rate since they aren't offering that great rate anymore ... but still not bad). But I did have to pay some of the line of credit down for them to agree to renew ... plus we owe mega taxes - I had borrowed money from my parents for that but ended up using it for the line of credit, and my husband's car broke down Tuesday and needs a new engine. Luckily my daughter has a junker car that has been sitting on the street (because she is afraid to do the necessary practice driving that she needs to get her license) ... so for now my husband can drive that until we figure out if we will replace the engine or try to figure out how to get a new car.
Whew ... anyhow I've been stressed. I can't even think about buying my Aunt's farm right now ... I just have to get through April and see how our finances survive.
Unfortunately all this stress has been making it very hard for me to be motivated to exercise (which is probably exactly what I should be doing). When I have exercised it has been torture and I really had to force myself to do it ... but I did. I've been doing a lot of binge eating ... for example last night I got home and totally stuffed myself with everything I could find - chips, pretzels, cheese, bagel, chocolate ... until my stomach hurt and I had to stop. At least I didn't also eat supper with my kids ... but it was still bad.
BUT I'M STILL HERE ... I just logged my calories for so far today, and I am taking a breath and getting back my focus. I'm so glad you guys are here!

lstpaul - I am sorry you dealing with all that stress :( Financial problems are horrible, I am having some stuff going on too, and it seems things like to break only when money is already really tight! I went through a bit of lacking motivation and having exercise seem like a huge chore for a while...I found reading success stories here on MFP and watching The Biggest Loser helped me get back into things. Good luck!

lstpaul: I'm sorry to hear that you've been having such a stressful time lately. I'm proud of you for logging your food today and for realizing you need to take a breather. Financial stresses are hard, but you'll get through it somehow. Just watch the eating as much as you can and try exercising to kick the stress. I recommend kickboxing for relieving stress!! In the meantime, we're here for you.

lstpaul-I understand financial messyness. It can be quite the burden. Just remember that everyone has it. I'm glad the bank was able to work with you! Glad you are able to still log some of your food and see you posting. Hang in there! It will get better!! I agree with Jenn. Watching the biggest loser helpes put me into motivation as well. I always want a real intense workout afterwards!

Jesyka-Awesome job on the lost inches! You are just melting the pounds and inches away!!

Hope everyone is having a good Thursday! I start week 4 of c25k tomorrow morning! I'm excited and nervous at the same time! 5 minute jogs! AHHH!!

Istpaul- I'm sorry to hear things are so stressful for you right now. It's really hard when things happen one on top of the other like that, but it's really great that you're still sticking with MFP and logging when you can. That's all that really matters, not your healthy lifestyle pitfalls...They can be corrected easily, and I'm sure they will be once your life is feeling a little more under control

Jess-Good luck with week for of the c25k! I read about it online and what you had to do each week and that did me it, you're awesome!

Holy crap. I can not wait to weigh in tomorrow! I think I've made up for 3 weeks of losing nothing in 1 week!

I weigh 3 pounds less this afternoon (after breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, 72oz water and 20oz diet coke) than I did last Friday morning! I think this may be my biggest loss since my first couple of weeks! I must've caught whatever awesomeness Cris had last week!

Istpaul - so sorry you're so stressed. I'm so proud of you for being here, though!

Jess -- You're going to rock week 4! I know I definitely didn't complete it on my first attempt. But try, try again, right?

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! I REALLY appreciate it. I keep telling myself I can do it. Trying to get myself in the right mind set. I haven't watched biggest loser yet this week and that is usually a good motivator so I'm watching it tonight!!

Okay so I did some closet cleaning and wanted to offer up a few things.....Not sure where everybody is at or what sizes anybody is wearing but I found SEVERAL pairs of dress pants that I no longer fit into and would be more then happy to send them someone's way if they are interested. I have a few 26's, 24's, 22's and several 20's and a pair of 18 in brown(I don't wear brown). All are either petitie or average length. I have a wide variety of black, brown, khaki and grey. They are all from either Lane Bryant, Jones New York(I think), and Talbots. All wide legs I believe. I have a black and grey pair of pants from Fashion Bug. They are the Right Fit pants color yellow (for those that wear these) size 6. If anybody is interested let me know either here or send me a message. Otherwise I will try and sell them in a garage sale my Mom is having in a couple weeks!

I log most of my food on my phone with the application for Iphone... Im a little nervous to weigh in tomorrow. I was up a lb from the last time I logged weight.. which has been about 3 weeks because of all the wedding stress. I guess I will find out in the morning! lstpaul- Sorry you are so stressed. With my son being sick the only thing I felt control over was my healthy eating and it actually helped me in a weird way. If I had self medicated with food I probably would have gotten more depressed and out of control. During crazy times try to stick to your program as much as possible, its the only thing you CAN control. Good luck and Ill be keeping you in my thoughts, hope it all gets sorted out soon!:flowerforyou:

jess- Good luck on week 4!! You'll be fine! I think I got through it fine, week 5 is where I am stuck at....you are going to pass me!!

excercise- did 30 min shred level 1..OMG IT HURT! I am so not in shape for that yet!! Plus I have been out of the gym for a week:noway: :embarassed:
proud- that inspite of added stress and being out of schedule I did the best I could to stay on track

I have no idea what the scale will say tomorrow its either going to be 212 or 213...I'll take it!!!If its higher than that I will probably cry :brokenheart:

 Well, I sort of ruined my weigh in by eating dinner (cheese stuffed manicotti, no less) way too late last night... so I'm carrying a little extra weight this morning. Or not, who knows. Definitely my lowest weight EVER (well, since I was a kid, at least) either way!

2-0-6!! Down 3.8 from last Friday. I don't think I've lost that much in a week for several months (I'm thinking since maybe last November) so I'm VERY VERY VERY happy about it. From now on, I will be happy with pretty much ANY loss. Especially any loss over 1 pound.

Jess -- way to rock C25K! That's awesome! Week 4 was DEFINITELY the thorn in my side. It's smooth sailing (haha, yeah right... but relatively!) from here on out, girl!

Bluenote -- 65 pounds!! That's so awesome! You're truly an inspiration.

I am taking my weigh in from yesterday because I am up a bit this morning from yesterday evenings sodium explosion.I normally wouldn't eat that late but I was in pain (i did something to my neck it feels like its in knots) and it took me longer to fix supper. So I ate past 6 and I snacked a bit to before bed.I am not worried cause I know tomorrow morning it will be back down.I also didn't get enough water in yesterday and I think that may be why I am up too but again no worries because I know it will go back down.Great job everyone else on your losses.
I was 227 yesterday morning so thats - 2 pounds since last week but I am not counting it for the biggest loser because I am up today (230) but I am excited that I am losing again and surprisingly being up some this morning didn't bother me because I know its normal and it will go back down.

Good morning and Happy (Good) Friday!

Jess: Way to go on getting out of the 220s and for rocking your C25K workout!

    Bluenote: 65 lbs.? You're amazing!

Littlespy: Way to go on your new low weight of 206!

    Checking in for yesterday:
    Calories: 130 left over
Sodium: Over by 1083 (beans and brats...)
    Water: 32 oz.
Exercise: Kickboxing DVD followed by Slim and Limber stretching DVD.
Proud: That I got all of my laundry done, worked out AND got to bed at a reasonable time.

I'm a bit bummed that I'm back up a bit on the scale, but I'm going to blame the sodium from last night's dinner and the fact that TOM is here again. Boo! Every time I make progress, it's time for TOM again. My weight this morning was 191.6, so I need to drop off 1.6 lbs again to get back to that beautiful 190. I'm thinking I need to readjust my goals again because I won't be at 175 by my birthday like I was originally hoping, but such is life.

So, I just had a Kashi granola bar (Peanut Peanut Butter) and it was so boring! It had pretty much no flavor; it definitely did not taste like peanut butter. But, it was filling and it didn't make me want another one. It wasn't gross, just bland.

    Jess......-1.6= .72% (don't worry Jess, I've got your back ~_^)

Heather - I have been underwhelmed by most of Kashi's stuff. :ohwell: I do really like adding their high protein & fiber cereal to my yogurt though. I usually use 1/2 cup & it has 70 calories with 7 grams of protein & 5 grams of fiber. It's extremely bland tasting -- I just like it for crunch!
I have a free sample of one of their granola bars coming (I requested it like 5 weeks ago & got an email earlier this week that it's on the way). I think it's the kind with the chocolate & coconut on top? I don't even remember it's been so long. I will report back (if I ever get it, that is). SOMETHING they make has to taste really good, right?

One would hope so, especially since it was $0.10 more for the Kashi bars over the Nature Valley ones I usually buy that have great flavor. Granted, the nutritional value on Kashi is better, but if I don't like the lack of flavor what's the point? I'm glad I haven't paid the extra $1.00 for their frozen dinners!

So, this week has been overwhelming to say the least. Apparently my cycle is off as TOM decided to visit this morning (he is two weeks early) arg.. Needless to say the scale reflects that to. So, no weight loss for me this week. I have a feeling that the stress of Little Bear passing has something to do with everything.

I have a busy day today! (this is a good thing)

Tomorrow after work we are going to clean the house and dye easter eggs. I was quite surprised when my 17 year old son (too cool for mom normally) actually cracked a smile when I said we were going to dye eggs this year. Although, he was not as impressed with me this morning. I had to take away his internet and phone because when I checked his blood sugars in his monitor, he had been lying to me about not only what they were but, when he was testing. God I hope he wakes up before he ruins his body!

Well.. Off to work I go. TTYL

On a side note, does anyone remember who had the awesome calculation for figuring out ideal body weight?

    It was Mari.
If you know your body fat percentage (I'll pretend mine is 32% in my example) you can multiply that by your weight to find out how many pounds of fat you have. Then you can subtract that from your current weight to find your lean weight (how much your bones & muscles & organs, etc, weigh).

Then you can add back on a healthy amount of fat to find your ideal body weight.

    So, say I have 32% body fat at 206. 206 x .32 = 65.92 pounds of fat (ew)
    Then 206 - 65.92 = 140.08 (this is my lean weight)
Well, 20% is an acceptable amount of body fat for a girl my age so (and this isn't exact, but it's close) 140.08 x 20% (0.2) = ~28

So, I want to add 28 pounds back to my lean weight to include a healthy amount of body fat. So, in this example, my ideal weight would be around 165-170 (140+28= 168).

I'm not sure if that's exactly what Mari was doing, but I think the gist of it is the same.

Thanks for the calculation. I have the information about my body fat percentage, excess fat pounds, etc. from that weight loss challenge I was doing. I'm thinking I may not have to lose as much as I originally thought and 150 lbs. may be lower than I should go, but I'll run the numbers and see!
