When you're as ugly as I am, it's easy to be single and not worry about motivation from others.
Yeah, right Joshacham. Reeeeeallll ugly. Bah.0 -
I am so much better at being motivated when I am single. I tend to date men who hate vegetables and exercise. They do however love large women, which just throws any good habits I have under the bus for some reason.
I am not even trying to date until I get fit enough for me. Maybe then I could score someone who gives a damn about themselves and knows how to take care of them self. Maybe I will just stay single because I tend to do better than way. I always end up with mewling man children who have no idea how to do anything and perhaps my motivation is to stay single and fit. :P0 -

I hope that is sarcasm my bearded friend.0 -
Self Motivation FTW!!!!
i do this for ME.....after all...i'm the one that gets to touch this body 24/7.....
MUAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
and I do....i SO do.0 -
I think it's easier, actually. More time and energy to devote to my goals.
I am one of those people...still in a relationship and it's so hard when your OH cooks or wants to be all romantic and go to a restaurant or just likes eating out !
It's easier because its a LDR but when I do see him I have to have a serious amount of cals left or we go for walks, it's too easy to get comfortable and just eat everything when you're with someone who isn't on a diet or anything0 -
I find staying fit and healthy significatly easier without a SO. It's became such an important part of my life that having partners whom i feel hinder me in regards to my fitness and weightloss goals usually don't last long.
My health and fitness is a complete solo operation, having someone backing me up is great but absolutely unnessesary.
If you need an external source of inspiration, well thats what the MFP community is there for. Also, there are a lot of inspiring health blogs out there.0 -
I agree 100% that it's easier to not have to worry about somebody else or their feelings when trying to get back into shape. No guilt trips, no skipping the gym because he wants to stay home, etc etc. You can eat what and where you want, too...my biggest issue. Now I'm not saying that I wouldn't LOVE to have a bf right now, but I'd like to wait until I feel better about mySELF. It gives me more motivation having somebody...keeps me going just knowing I'll be seen without clothing, lol. :noway: :blushing:0

I actually love training, so it's not really a problem. I understand it can be after being inactive or having an illness. I had a cold yesterday and just said $%& it and forget the gym, but I had a hot shower and felt much better and went to go and lift weights and felt great at the end of the day.0

Im single and I certainly find it hard. I try to put a recording that plays all the time in a funny voice to remind me every morning not to hog food!0

Yes, I am.
As a single person, you have to stay fit because you have to market yourself as a quality partner. Competition is intense, particularly if you're looking for attractive single females in their 20s who have a plethora of options.
When you have a long term partner, it is easy to adopt the mindset that they'll be around and let your fitness slide. Being single is so much more difficult than being in a long term relationship because it is easier to maintain a long term relationship than make the efforts to court someone new.0 -
Thanks for the feedback guys! You're all making a lot of sense0

I'm doing this for me, myself, and I. No need to have a partner to help motivate me...seeing the results is enough motivation.0

I'm single and I'm doing this for me and the family and maybe one day have a guy who will love me for me0

It's easier, single. If you want to go to the gym or eat something, you just do it. You don't have to check and cross check with someone else that it's ok. In terms of motivation, you have the ultimate scenario for conquering your own self doubt, as the only person who's opinion matters, is yours. The only person who could naysay you, is you. Because there isn't anyone else there to hold you back or to influence your behavior.0

Sex.
All the motivation I need0 -
You're not ugly at all!!!!
Some people don' t understand singleness. I tried to have a relationship many times but when it ended, it destroyed me. People's reaction is , " Ahh don' t worry, there is someone for you". However I feel liberated and free and proud to be single! I feel like a woman in the 50's who has been given the chance to have a independent life, a job and a home. Being able to do and see who you want to. I am so happy being single......it would take Keanu Reeves and a total unconditional love to rock my ship! It's probably fantasy - so I'll carry on doing what I' m doing. On the other hand I do believe that true love exists fo those clunky enough to have found it!
Keep calm and be healthy x0 -
Is that DIY ?0

I don't workout for anyone except myself. I want to be fit and healthy for me.0
-
Because me being healthier and fit isn't about an SO..it's about me.0
-
Its not about a SO for me....I work out and diet as hard as I do because I disgust myself.....and if I disgust myself I can't even think about what other people think. Because its not about them. Its about me being happy and healthy so I can be around when my daughter grows up.0
-
I'm not single and sometimes I wish I was. haha0
-
everytime i get in a relationship, i start gaining weight because i lose track of my gym goals and omg the increase in food intake. single me is motivated because i want it for myself.0
-
I actually think it is easier to stay on track being single. I don't have to worry about a partner pressuring me either to work harder OR to not work as hard. I don't feel ashamed of what I eat or pressured to pick up their bad eating habits. I can do my own thing exactly how I want to. I'm a solo exerciser, too. I've never been drawn to the "gym buddy" idea. I just want to work out and get done without all the yip yap!0
-
I'm single. I don't think it has a correlation to my workouts. If anything I have more time and its a plus.0
-
I'm confused-why should I need an SO to back me up in my weight loss goals? I am an adult who can make decisions for myself thanks.
This is just one of them. Ta da~0 -
my motivation is to not be fat, slow and sick0
-
Every girlfriend I've ever had has openly admitted to me that they hate me loosing weight as it makes them incredibly insecure. Women are insecure creatures for the most part. Luckily this doesn't effect me as I stay fit for myself.0
-
Because I'm doing this for me not a SO. And I have to be happy with myself before I can be happy with someone else. so I'm perfectly ok with being single and working on improving myself.0
-
I stayed motivated because I am single.
Being single is motivation enough for me
this lol0
