Just wanted to drop a line, now that Easter's so close, to say that other than the little slip back in Feb, I think this has been going really well (according to the plan I had made when joining the challenge after Valentine's).

    Happy Easter, everyone! :flowerforyou:

Dew-- good stuff. I've been doing very well, too. Cutting out the desserts and resisting the chocolate (Easter goodies are in the house-- so far, so good) and I've been really watching added sugars.

I wanted a yogurt the other day-- 39 grams of sugar? Puh-- as if. The bums.

    Sugar every-freakin-where-- drives me crazy.

    Have a great weekend, people--

    Made it my two days.

Wanted cookies at the market. Bought myself flowers instead. Sugar free indulgences forever!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart that with all my bad habits and all of life's challenges, I do not nor have I ever liked sugar, sweets or even chocalate.

    Amen.

I would like to take a moment to state that I am sick and tired of seeing recipes for desserts come up on my home page. Seriously, there is no such thing as a diet cookie.

Nothing personal, peeps...but it's called "triggering" and they're doing it to me.

You know what's good, though...raspberries. om nom nom nom nom.

Viv-- I'm always rather scratching my head over that, too--

Very proud of myself-- all I did was stick my head in the bag and sniff the chocolate that just went in the Easter baskets. I know if I have one, I won't stop-- so I had none.

This can be done-- so glad for the strength right now--

    thanks, all--

Stupid purple peeps. I ate two before I realized "oops. I'm not supposed to eat these." I just nommed them in my mouth without thinking due to their festive purple sugar.

This has got to stop. I keep making excuses "I'll have it because it's Easter." "I'll have it because I've heard good things about this pastry chef." "I'll have it because I've never tried rosewater sorbet before." "I'll have it because it's Tuesday and the moon is full." All stupid reasons, and none of them worth more than me.

So, my baby step goal is no sweets until next Sunday.

Yep, it's me. For me the culprit is refined grains. Eggs don't seem to be an issue (but I don't like them, so I don't eat a lot of them.)

Also, ate a cookie at a meeting. Fail.

Oh my gosh-- the pain and swelling yesterday was rotten-- today, worse. Hard-boiled and deviled eggs past two days. I finally had to give in and take naproxen, which I refused to take because it makes me hold water. But, I figured one won't kill me.

I saw a lovely picture online of hands terribly disfigured from the disease-- scary ****, my friends-- pardon the vulgarity. One finger on my right hand is very swollen, and beginning to bend up-- worse today than it has been. Hoping it's just from the eggs--

I'll see the rheumatologist again, though, for other ideas if I see it progressing-- I went off the last batch of stuff they gave me-- I didn't bust my rump for two years to take off nearly 50 pounds just to see 10 of it go back on overnight from medication-- no way, my friends. I'll take pain and swelling before I take weight gain.

But, disfigured joints? Hmmmm-- not cool.

Staying very strong on the sweets-- so thrilled.

    Sugar is not my friend.

Stay away from google images, sister! Right after my diagnosis, I went on the internet and nearly lost my damn mind.

It is scary, but what they post online is always the extreme.

So proud of your strength with the sweets! I'm aiming to catch up. It's just not "clicking" right now. Excuses and stress...I'm trying to force-click it.

LOL-- I know, the pictures are awful. I stumbled on this one by accident-- hadn't seen any prior-- yikes.

Keep working at it. I hate it when it won't click-- but it clicks again eventually. Even if for a short time.

I'm just reveling in my current click.

Still here. Well, actually I've been gone for a week or so -studying.

I'm trying to decide if I want to continue to scuba dive. So dangerous, and I need to make sure I understand the consequences of making a mistake - and how to avoid one. So many people get rushed through their training in the name of profits. Too bad human life is so easily bought.

    I am Cheryl and I'm a cynic . . . . .is there a 12-Step Program for cynicism?

Hanging tough. NO $0.16 Peeps for me.....(though I did have a few on Easter.)

I'm gonna start sifting out the sugar (honey, corn syrup, etc) from my diet 3 days a week. Mon, Wed, and Friday, and add another day a little at a time. Honey is the big one for me, and I spend way too much money on it.

I am being strong and staying away from everyone's leftover Easter candy today. First day I'm re-attempting to go without diet soda AND sweets. So far, so good.

My snack of plain yogurt, fresh strawberries and granola sounds better anyway.

Viv, Shuntae, Cheryl-- way. To. Go.

Seriously-- this enemy is so strong-- but it can be defeated-- or at least contained.

Check the signature-- I've done very well. Kisses, M&Ms, Reeses and Hershey's Miniatures all around me-- in great quantity.

I know I have to stay away from it. When I fool myself that I can have it in moderation (which I have in the past, and fear I will again some day) I am toast. It owns me from that point on.

Presently doing a veggie juice gig this week, hoping to cleanse the system and give some arthritis relief. It really is astonishing how less the pain is nearly instantly--

Appreciate the strength and support from you folks--

Can you believe this? Yesterday I actually heard someone call licorice a health food because it's fat free. I had to tell them that eating that amount of sugar is not "healthy" a few pieces once in a while is ok but to sit and eat a bag because it doesn't have fat. What kind of healthy is that?

My husband tried to buy me a cookie. I responded "no thank you, it isn't Sunday." Victory, I have it.

Trying to keep the balance between confident and cocky...because when I get cocky, the white devil is sneaky, and he gets in.

April sugar brings May... not fit into my pants. mwahahaha.

    Stay strong, sugar free sistahs!

Well, I didn't have any sugar until dinner, when I let myself have one of my homemade muffins... :blushing: Oops...

    S: .5 - Sugar: 32.5

I also had my Rice Dream with cereal (organic cane sugar), but I'm confused by the Rice Dream. It says 12 grams of sugar / cup, but there is no sugar in the ingredients. Where is this sugar coming from?

Hi all! Succombed to the sugar fiend for awhile, but am pulling away and gaining ground. It is so much easier for me to eat well when I get up in the a.m. and workout. That does mean getting up at 5 or 5:30. Which is hard for this night owl. But it helps me through the day to eat better. Dh and I will be meeting with another couple tonight and a small dessert will be served. I'll have to see how that goes. Maybe it will be strawberries and whipped cream - which I could easily have. One can always hope!!
  • I love it!!! An entire discussion on my nemesis....THE SUGAR MONSTER! Glad to find others to stand by my side in this battle..

Trying to be sugarfree, but oh the struggle. Addicted to those WW giant fudge bars that pass off themselves as OK, but really are addictive....lol.

Good luck to everyone in their struggle. We can do this.....TOGETHER!

I'm on a roll! Did pretty good yesterday, did have the dessert at the meeting. But the only thing I've had today is my 2 squares off my Dove Dark Chocolate bar. It satisfies me and doesn't kick in my cravings, except to finish the bar! I'm getting better with that. This one has lasted 2 days and still has 2 of the 5 chunks left - Monday's after lunch treat.

Bought some canned salsa from the Hutterite Colony that stopped by to pick up product. MMmmmmm. I don't think sugar will be the issue tonight. I think corn chips with salsa will be the issue! They make the salsa from veggies they grow right there. *drool* It is Friday, after all. Somehow I just have to enjoy and have a little restraint. Chips and salsa is an acceptable dinner, no??
