okay yesterday I barely made 5,000; however I was more active by not sitting on my butt the whole day, but was putting away decor from Christmas and stuff. How do you get 10000 steps in a day...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am having a hard tiome doing this
Climb stairs! Good exercise, gets your step count up nicely and gets your heart rate going too0 -
Great start everyone-every single step is a step in the right direction :flowerforyou:

I will be trying for 10,000 steps a day that will be my goal
My pedometer broke for the second time after I dropped it.
I have ordered a new one online the Ormon 112. Still
using the old one until the new one arrives.

Count me in, I have to up my exercise as I am getting married in March and need to lose a few lbs. I have been laid up recovering from an operation for the last 10 weeks so starting on the 1st Jan I will be getting back on my feet.
Just logging in with my step update, so far today I've reached 10,978 steps and it isn't bed time yet. ..
2nd day, 10231 steps so far.0 -

Even inexpensive ones can do well. I have used a $5 Sportline counter I bought at Walmart that did great until I recently drowned it. After drying it out it seems to read at least 10% low
My fav is a New Balance Via Slim that cost about $30.
I think others here have suggested an Omron model.
Whichever one you use its good to check it every once in a while. I will count out a few hundred streps and compare that to what my step counter says.0 -
I am in. My goal will be 10,000 steps a day. Think this will be a fun little challenge.0

I'm so in on this challenge! My goal will be 10,000 steps a day. I think I'm probably going to have the toughest time during the weekend, especially since its winter time and cold and snowy here.

Just got a Zipbit Zip. 3,000 is a rest day or day when I do other exercise,5,000 is an average active day and over 10,000 is a good day. The Zipbit is registering less steps than my pedometer did and my steps will go down now that I am not doing one of my active jobs. However I want to motivate myself to up my general activity while upping my exercise up to my normal level again so this month I will see what is my base to improve from. My goal is to try to go over 5,000 as many days as possible. So 175000 is my goal for the month, with an average of 6,000.
1/1 4646 (not bad for a rest day)
1/2 5055 (active work day may up it tomorrow after I have the final total)0 -
Doing this ... love my FITBIT to help me know how I'm doing.

 I carry my pedometer all day every day.....it's an Omron HJ-720ITC
:flowerforyou: goal for January
minimum 18,000 steps a day
daily average 23,000 steps
January 1---23,027
January 2----26,275
January total=49,302
January average=24,651
:flowerforyou: my pedometer allows me to save data on my computer so I records going back to when I bought it......my average for 2010 was around 11,000
my average for 2011 was around 18,000
my average for 2012 was around 23,000....that shows me that the more I pay attention to steps, the more opportunities I find to increase the total...in 2012 I refused to let the weather interfere with my walking outdoors and I found more ways to walk and jog in place in the house.
