I think I haven't looked at it in a couple days now... although I have Aspergers
  • Best solution of all (for me) - no cell phone. To me, it's like being on a leash.
    i agree

I can definitely do it, but it's not always easy. I know this summer when my family rented a beach house I would go out to the beach in the morning and leave my phone inside and wouldn't even go back to the house until lunch time or later. It was actually extremely relaxing not being tied to it, but I don't think I could live that way all the time, sadly. Half of the time I just check it out of habit boredom though sadly, and not because I really need to use it.

To be fair and to answer your question--an hour would be hard. The exception to that is if I'm out enjoying water sports, hiking, etc.
  • I went all day yesterday because I left it in my coat pocket. :')

I could go 4 years without looking at mine. I hate phones
  • Apparently, I'm strange. Not only can I go four hours without looking at my phone, my SO yells at me for not even carrying it with me everywhere. Something about why have it if I'm not going to use it? *shrug*

this is so tough! I'm always checking my phone! I think I'll do it tonight though. Right after I unhook this phone I'm not going to pick it up for four hours!

We aren't allowed to be on our phones at work. It's forbidden and we could get fired on the spot if we are found texting or doing anything with our phones. So yeah, I can go 4 hours without it. On the weekends, I'm on it constantly.

I could go all day if I wanted to.... but I don't have a smart phone. lol I don't really use my phone much unless I'm not home... Or unless I have another reason.. not just to check facebook. Facebook is a hassle to check on my phone anyway. lol

Question is can I go 4 minutes without looking at my phone?

    This...i'm addicted to my phone.

A great app for texting is Mighty Text...lets you read/reply to texts on your computer. Great if your phone is not near you and you're on the computer.

GroupMe also..reply using phone or computer.

    yes
  • No. I wake up to check my missed call's, tm's and FB. When I'm awake I pick up the phone every 20-30min to see if I missed a call or if the ringer is on because it's been silent for too long. I just told my 2 children we need to try and go a weekend with no cell phone, internet, tv, iPod's, Kindle's, Nintendo's 3DSxl's, no gaming systems, no electronics at all. I'd be the 1st to lose my mind!!!

Don't have a smart phone. I throw my cell phone in a drawer when I get home from work on Friday & don't pick it back up until I head off for work Monday morning. Also, it gets turned off every night from 10 pm until 5 am. . .

Well, when I had my Blackberry, it was difficult because it was my life line to my self-employed businesses as well as steady day job, friends, family, appointments, etc. I was always looking at the phone or talking to somone for one reason or another. But now, I have my OLD Nokia because my BB got 4 freaking drops of water on the keyboard (4 drops!!!) and it completely died! Stupid phone. I'll never get one again!

Maybe this gives you an idea:

BB: 100+ texts sent per day / 150+ texts receive per day EASILY
BB: Min 5-10 calls per day outgoing / 5-10 calls per day incoming EASILY

Nokia: 5-10 texts sent per day / 20-30 texts received per day
Nokia: 2-4 calls per day outgoing / 0-3 calls per day incoming

I TRY TO STAY off my phone as much as possible now. Also, it doesn't help that it feels like my brain is frying after a while, or at least my ear!

Yes. I can go an entire day without looking at my phone. And it bugs some people cuz it takes me that long to get back to them about something. But if my phone is in my bag and my bag is on the chair and I don't have to leave the house one day, I'm not babysitting my phone the way I do when I'm out/at work. It helps that my phone is pretty low-tech. I can go on the internet, but it's very basic. I could buy games, but they would drain the battery very quickly.

It would be much harder for me to go without a computer.
  • Only when my kiddos ask me so nicely to use my phone to play some games. I minimized the problem by breaking down and buying a tablet for my 9 year old for Christmas. My 4 year old is a whole different issue, but I can't say I exactly mind watching her play her alphabet games or listening to her try her hardest to read stories on it while sitting in my lap :) When she is done...I'm back to checking messages...
