I'd love to have a garage that I could convert into a gym....definitely need mats, pull up bar, weight bench? Any CV equipment? Kettlebells? God I could spend a fortune!!! Can I come and use yr garage!?!!?
South Carolina is a long way from En, but Sure...anytime.0 -
OK...serious answer...
I think the Man Cave/Work Out space is an awesome idea!! That solves the issue!! It's still a part of the house, so no big deal! I'd say leave the concrete floor and get the cushy workout mats to put where needed. Set up surround sound and get a big screen TV. Justify it with the cost of going to a gym for a year. It will even out. Then...y'all can turn it into a movie viewing room for a get together or for the kiddos.
I'd say set it up with the weights opposite of the door that leads into the house. Less noise against the adjacent wall. Put the TV on the wall opposite of the garage door so you can face it for your DVD workouts. Put a couch or some kind of comfy seating next to the door leading into the house. It should absorb sound. Finally...get a mini fridge for your water.
That should do it!0 -
LOL I don't mind the noise my fiance makes when he works out in the house. But no opening of doors. We live in Wisconsin, and it's February and snowing all the dang time, and we have a 1 y/o son that i do not want getting pneumonia tyvm! I'd wager to guess if you're northerners she feels the same, except for the baby part.
I am a Michigander, and with the heat bill at $300+ / month, i wouldn't appreciate the doors being opened either. If they have a basement, perhaps he could turn that into a workout room, instead of the garage? That is what my husband and I have done, and it works great for both of us.0 -
Id love a garage to turn into a gym! I currently just jump around im my bedroom then my partner comes in pretending to jog and heavy breaths making fun of me. Then my 2 yr old son tries to join in and when Im jogging/kicking its not a good idea to have a knee high lightening bolt speed across my path! I think a man cave/gym is a great idea and you should do it0

Yes, get some prozac for your wife and put it in her coffee0

Will you have to move your porn out there too? Geez..0

tv doesn't need much - just add a $59 roku box and a dvd player (for your p90x). otherwise, if you stream from your PC, I think apple tv might work better.0

I would think she'd be happy cause you're not spending money on the gym membership! more for savings! I hope she gets a grip on reality and loves you for who you are and what you are doing!0

I used our spare bedroom but if I had space in the garage I'd love this idea. If you do it yourself you can get a work out too!0

My husband has his MMA gym in our garage. I'm not to keen on it in the winter time because I would like to park my car in there but it's free so I can't complain too much.0
