Cardio doesn't burn fat!!!

If anyone can show me a single reliable scientific study showing that aerobics help burn significantly more fat than dieting alone, I'll never make another forum post ever again. Srs.
There are other reasons to do cardio.0 -

Really, the best way to burn fat is by doing a good cleanse. You need to release all the toxins from your body that have accumulated over the years from bad eating. Once you release the toxins, your body will begin to burn fat more efficiently because it's not bogged down by the toxins.
Now THAT'S broscience!0 -

am i correct in understanding that you think somebody like EdDavenport lost 311lbs of muscle and not 311lbs of fat?
are you aware that the calories burned during cardio are precisely what allows morbidly obese people to shed weight so quickly? cardio alone may lead to some LBM loss, but that calorie deficit from cardio also prods the body into burning fat stores.0 -

But I think your all-or-nothing perspective is interesting, and by interesting I mean not at all.
These things are good for you:
a healthy diet
weight lifting
cardiovascular activities
One being "better" than the other is extremely subjective given the kind of person subjecting themselves to it: what their goals are, where they're at currently, what they choose to focus on for personal reasons, etc.0 -

I love this so, so much. Post of the week. Nicely done.0 -
Cardio does burn fat, but it can burn muscle too. I usually lift and add in some HIIT to try to minimize muscle burn but increase metabolism. Having said that, its the lifting that will change body composition.0

I will not waste my time reading through any study where the diet of the subjects was not controlled. Yet again you miss the whole point of my post.0 -
I'll go ahead and keep doing cardio. It surely helps the weight come off for me and helped me drop 85 pounds a few years back when I was on the ball. Don't get me wrong, I like lifting too. I just mix in both.0

Does it really matter what exercise someone chooses to do? I love picking up heavy things and really don't like cardio. However, if someone else is the opposite, why would I tell them what they are doing isn't beneficial? I understand what you are saying regarding strength training. It's just that some people aren't going to lift weights. It's not what they enjoy. Yes, there will be body composition differences between cardio only folks and strength trainers. In the end, though, what matters most is that someone isn't sitting on their *kitten* do nothing, but doing some form of exercise which they enjoy and will continue to do.0

I guess it's been a few days since a weight lifter told us cardio was useless.
He didn't say that at all.0 -

I wouldn't say he's stupid at all. I would say that he has a different perspective based on his personal experiences.0 -
How to burn the fat?
Throw the bacon in the fire, leave it there.0 -
Thanks for the reminder. Time to sign off and hit the gym for some cardio anyway.0 -
Did someone say bacon?0

I agree... I hate seeing girls my age on the treadmills foreeevvverrrr... Yeah, maybe their training for something.. But I'm assuming most of them just want to lose weight... They need to LIFT!0

Do more cardio so you can eat more bacon0

Bacon is bad for you, full of fat. The only way to lose weight and be healthy is to cut out most fats and carbs. Protein only, and a good cleanse.0

Perhaps... just maybe... they're lifting somewhere else. Somewhere away from your view.0 -

How bout a bacon cleanse?
Only if you lift.0 -
Cardio is good for creating a calorie deficit. The body has to get energy from somewhere hence stored fat. Smaller men and most women require more cardio because you can only do so much with the reduction of calories.0
