Try different brands. Each does taste different. I happen to love cottage cheese but I have a favorite and will make a trip to purchase it even if I need nothing else from that store.

I LOVE cottage cheese because you can make it sweet or savory! I like to add a little frozen fruit (that's thawed in the fridge) to it, or a little cinnamon and honey, or a little sugar free jam! If I want it savory I like to mix it with salad shrimp and a dab or cocktail sauce, or cut an avodaco in half and put some in the middle with salt & pepper. The possabilities are endless, so yummy! Thanks for reminding me of a long lost snack option lol

Where I come from we mix dry pressed cottage cheese with rum and raisins and use it as a crepe filling. For a savoury dish you can use it in a pasta-bacon-cottage cheese casserole.
  • I prefer greek yogurt over cottage cheese Dannon Light & Fit Greek to be exact
  • i love to eat my cottage cheese with pickled beets.. the contrast between the two is sooo yummy.

A very filling lunch: cottage cheese with avocado, tomato, cucumber, lots of black pepper, and a T of italian dressing. Delish!

I prefer mine savory so I usually add a little seasoning salt and pepper. Yum! Sometimes I mix some veggies into it too, tomatoes are good.

There are a ton of great ideas on this thread - but are you guys using WET or DRY cottage cheese?

I find wet cottage cheese (the kind in whey) to be quite salty-tasting so I'm curious as to how it would taste with some of the "sweeter" suggestions.

Is there anyone using dry cottage cheese (not in whey) in their suggestions? I tried dry cottage cheese (once with chopped cucumber and once with frozen blueberries) and I just can't stomach it; it was disgusting!!

At my "usual" grocery store I can't find light or fat-free versions of the wet cottage cheese. The only fat-free cottage cheese I can find is the dry kind... which is why I ask what kind you're using.

I don't, except if it's in lasagne filling or something like that. I can't get past the texture.

I either put pepper on it or parmesean cheese. I like to eat it with triscuits or melba toast.

  • I purchased the canned pears with no sugar and eat with the cottage cheese. Love it!

My favorite way is to dice up half of an avodaco, 1/3 of a peeled cucumber (adds a nice crunch), and then to cut grape tomatoes in half or quarters, then add salt & pepper. Not only does it look fantastic, it tastes great!
  • hollow out the seeds of a small papaya and use your papaya bowl to hold your cottage cheese. Great flavor combo.
