This day alone is why they can't do a 5k cheat day. It's NOT a reffed people. Besides a refeed is not a 'just eat anything' it's got to be planned to basically be hi carb. You are all suggesting nothing but pure sugar, salt & fat.

If anything those suggesting that she go along with it & those suggesting the crap she eat are just as bad as the one thinking a cheat day is needed. There is no way on earth she has enough calorie credit to eat 5000cals in a day.

I'm wondering who are the real eating disorder ones here..... the OP or those who think it's more than ok to pump your body with 5k worth of fat, sugar & salt & then still be ok with it.

Do you need calorie credit for cheat days? That wouldn't really be cheating then, would it?

OP seems to be trying to gain weight, according to her ticker, so if she wants to take a day to up her calories by a lot then why shouldn't she splurge a bit?

WOAHHH!! Hold the phone!! Are saying that not everyone on MFP is here to lose weight? This is unreal...I need to go lie down...

I love it when people whine about cheat days or cry "BINGE". what that tells me is that they dont believe they have the self control to get back on track with a cheat day. " NO DONT YOU DARE TAKE A CHEAT DAY AND STILL LOSE WEIGHTTTT CAUSE ITS NOT FAIR"

Have a large slice of cake with frosting. That is about 2000 calories all on it's own. I got up to about 5000 calories one day by mistake when we celebrated my husbands birthday. :-)

Look at my suggestion again (it's in my diary), it's high in protein. It's admittedly light on fruits and veggies, but not the terrible crap you're suggesting. Add a quality salad for lunch and it'd be a 6k day, but better balanced micronutrient-wise. Actually screw it, I added one in. Final verdict with a massive rasberry walnut tossed salad: 5,905 kcals 456 carbs, 299 fat, 300 protein

If you look at the OP's previous posts she acknowledges that her diet is 'crappy'. Going through her diary I think she's low on protein and veggies in particular. I suspect that she's a victim of conveinence, which is tremendously common in folks who don't want to take (or don't feel they have) the time or money to go out and try new food. I would absolutely think it would be time (and calories and money) well spent to take the hit and actually enjoy some good quality cooking. Acg's food porn is a wonderful example. His normal intake is more than most folks could probably do without gaining weight, but I don't think anybody can argue that he doesn't get good eats.

Getting out there and trying the good stuff is part (for me at least) of having a healthy relationship with food.

Shouting "ewwww" or "eating disorder" or "binge" or "I could NEVER do that!!!" isn't very helpful in this circumstance. I tend to think that the best way to show people how to eat well is to show them all the delicious stuff you can eat if you're willing to put a bit of effort into it.

    Go read the book Shred.
When someone eats (example number) 1,300 cals everrrry day weight loss will not be good because your body gets in the routine of processing the amount and stifles progress.
Much like muscle confusion, when your workouts are always challenging different muscles so your body doesn't get used to your workout, you need diet confusion. You should not eat the same things everyday and you should not eat the same amount of calories everyday.
While 5k may be excessive, having a day where you greatly increase caloric intake is fantastic for the metabolism.

All in all no one knows your body and what works for it as well as you do.
Just some food for thought for everybody! I went through and read most of the posts and my goodness. Thankfully the lady with the heart made out of fruit as her profile pic is gone

I'm not sure what the entire day would look like, but I would definitely have a carnitas burrito (with rice, beans, cheese, guac, and salsa) from Chipotle, with a side of chips and guac. That's around 1900 cals just for lunch.

So far, reading through this thread, I have learned that I have an eating disorder, am possibly disgusting, can only have a 5k day if I am trying to gain weight and should not be on this website as I am currently bulking. Who knew!

Oh, and that Acg has better food porn than me, but I already knew that!

Ikr, brand new information! Everyone knows that "fitness" websites are only for people trying to lose weight, people trying to bulk/gain/enjoy the occasional splurge day don't go here!

Where do they go? Somewhere where bitter negative Nancy types don't have to be faced with the sight of people eating more than them and not feeling guilty or disgusted with themselves. At least this is what I'm lead to believe. Either way, I'm gonna drown myself in funnel cake when the time comes, and I'll log it with a smile.

I'm struggling to reconcile "disgusting" and "yum" to describe the same thing.
