She was pretty much making fun of girls who use the gym as an excuse to look all cute and show off how cute and adorable they are..

I'm not taking personal offense, I look like crap at the gym. I chimed in because I'm tired of people putting other people down for things that don't hurt anyone, and it gets tiresome when women are somehow minimized for liking makeup or fun gym clothes.

If the point is complaining about people (people, not just women) who take up machines when not doing anything, that's a different point entirely. I have a small gym, but I usually just work around them and hope that by the time I finish my other stuff they've moved on. (Happens the most with people who work out in groups or pairs. One person works out and the others sit on the machines around them. I haven't noticed a gender pattern with this. These aren't areas where you'd need a spot.) Usually it works out fine by just going to another machine, but if I really needed to, I'd just ask them if I can use the machine.

hmm and I think you are missing the point that if you are really working out and hitting it hard you will not have the time to really notice anything, much less the brand of makeup some chick is wearing...

Who was talking about brands of make up? Your comment, as per usual, is irrelevant and incorrect.

Ha, my comments are no more irrelevant then your sad attempt at a thread...

This obviously wasn't my intention and I've learned my lesson. I'm human. Obviously your intention is to continue bickering or you would have stopped hours ago. Go about your night. Somebody that's clearly so superior to me shouldn't need to waste their time continuously spouting banter. Know when enough is enough.

I just realized, having recently made the observation that nearly all of the women (and men) in the gym where I work out are in remarkably awesome condition and are hella strong...(myself being an obvious exception)...I didn't note whether or not they were wearing any makeup.

    Guess I'm doing it wrong.

    Anyhow, I'm obviously:

    In...

...because we're all here (or at the gym) for the same reason...

...and everyone is different and has to find what works for them.

That might be going a bit far. He's a handsome man and I'm all about facial hair on a gent, but you probably don't want a wayward beard hair in your lip gloss.

    This is crazy talk.

Cmc keeps that 'stache well-groomed. Nothing wayward going on there...

Did I read incorrectly that if you notice other people you aren't working hard enough? Seems to be a common sentiment.

Oh and thanks! I was in advanced classes since 3rd grade so your sarcasm was more of a compliment than anything lol.

Did you really just play the "advanced proficiency in grade school" card???

The nerve of people! Doing stuff they like, no matter how innocuous!

Sounds like somebody is jealous that somebody else got more pumpkin stickers than them!

Why do ya'll care about how hard the OP is working? Just saying.

Your seemingly unending defense of OP is admirable...

....or creepy. Honestly, I'm not sure. Are you perhaps indebted to the OP for some reason? Perhaps she saved you from a burning building earlier in your life? Or maybe you just thought she needed your help defending her position? Whatever the reason, your dedication to the cause is impressive.

ETA: And now I'm totally caught up on this thread...

...so there's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back...

    ...and that's depressing. :indifferent:

Oh look, it's this thread again.

How about if you have the time to worry about what OTHER people are doing in the gym, YOU'RE not working hard enough.

Mind your own business and worry about yourself. :noway:

This. I don't go to the gym much as I generally prefer to work out at home, but the times I do go to the gym? I can honestly say I don't notice anyone else there or what they're doing, much less whether or not they have too much makeup on.

People that take pictures of themselves in the gym.. Just photo bomb them and they will stop.. when they look at you act like you have no idea what they are looking at.. or wink at em.

inorite. i'm just glad in all the pages of replies nobody said I have to take off these douchy sunglasses cause my mascara's running. and also nobody said I have to stop pressing my butt on the wall because then I might have to wipe it down. (I just hope no one comes in here with any re-rack complaints about my dumbbells.)

    You crack me up!

i feel like most of my posts on here are complain-y but i'm about to hide from all gyms and social media sites because of girls that do this...

girls in the gym WEARING MAKE UP!!!!! omg! if you still look good at the end, you're not working hard enough!
you do not need to take selfies in the mirror every time you're there and you do not need to go slow on the stair stepper because you're wearing a push up bra and don't want to lose your ta-ta's. KNOCK THAT OFF!!!!

take it seriously, or move out of the way for the people that do. you're giving us a bad rep!

i don't need you staring at me when i come in in a cut off with my hair snarled from running to the gym and scoffing when i pick up a weight. THAT'S WHAT THE GYM IS FOR. not instagram, mascara, and victoria's secret.

Who cares what others do or wear at the gym, I couldn't give a fig to be honest. All I am concerned about is what I am doing, not that I go to the gym much, but when I do that is how I roll.

This why some women are intimidated by going to a gym! they are worried that people are going to be looking at them and judging. Worry about yourself and what you are doing not what others are doing and as far as not working out hard enough maybe they have limitations and are just doing what they can at their own pace.

I agree. I mentioned that in a thread earlier today when the men where talking about how hot the women were at the gym.

yeaaa, why does it matter to you so much? I go to the gym on my lunch hour (really, my lunch 45 minutes) and I leave directly from, and go directly back, to work. So I'm def wearing make up. And sometimes I go on my morning and afternoon breaks (20 minutes) to squeeze in a little extra time and on those days, I don't EVEN CHANGE. Yep, In work clothes, I bust out a couple sets or an extra 15 minutes cardio. You do what you gotta do to get your time in and those of US that do this don't waste those precious minutes worrying what OTHER people are doing or look like. Or even what OTHER people are *****ing about. We just get **** done.

Yes, correct. Everyone on MFP must bow down to my mastery. Thank you for subjecting yourself to my greatness.

tbh, i get where you come from. i look at myself in the mirror most of the time during a work out, but it's not hard to spot a person with perfect hair/make up here and there. working out is boring, ofc i'm gonna look around. you can only stare at the TV for so long.

anyway, as myself, i would never wear make up to agym. i would like to towel dry my face w/o having foundation everywhere. also, having a regular bra on during a workout is just plain painful. before starting a workout, i actually like to wash off my face, tie my hair back, and change to a sports bra.

if you like to wear make up, go for it, why should i care? but it for sure looks uncomfortable to me.

GYM is not a place to judge what other people do or look like. Its a place for you to ignore people around you and work out like you don't care. Unless you pay for their membership. If you are so sensitive about others then you are not suitable to work out in gym.
