GROSSED OUT (rant)

It really only grosses me out when Hubby decides to break in to my baking stash. He will go in to the kitchen at 10 or 11 at night and make a peanut butter and icing sandwich. He got my brown sugar pecan and coconut icing out and dug in to it. I was totally grossed out. I was mainly mad because I was looking forward to eventually using it for a cake for the family and not just so he could go in there and gluttonize and of course he didn't tell me and just left it in my baking supplies for me to find out later when I actually went to make it.
That sounds really delicious. I wish I had thought of making a peanut butter and icing sandwich. You also sound like you have great taste in icing. Yum!0 -

Summer time is birthday central in my family.
July 4th--2nd daughter
July 8th--FIL's birthday
July 12th--my sister's birthday
August 4th--my mom's birthday
August 12--3rd daughter
August 19--hubby and my dad's birthday
With so many summer birthdays I keep a stash of icing in my baking closet.0 -
I still munch on chips and junk food from time to time it's all about control. I love my cake and pies man will not give those up. But when I eat that crap I tack on extra time at the gym to burn it off.0

I tend to pay attention to what I eat and leave other people alone, but that's just me.

that's the traditional icing for german chocolate cakes. all the markets where I live have it.
also it does kind of suck that husband put it back without telling you, but that's more rude than gross. Unless he licked the knife after spreading and then rescooped with the same knife like my dad used to to with mayonnaise jars. Then that's gross. He's your husband, if that's his MO maybe you might consider buying a new jar of frosting and writing his name on that one. Unless it's supposed to be refrigerated after opening in which case, throw it out before his secretive eating poisons himself.0 -
I just get jealous!0

I get worried, but not grossed out. My cousin is five and can put away three pink icing donuts from DD. But I'm not in a position to say anything. I think I relate it back to myself. If someone had kept ME from eating a box of donuts by myself, would I be fat? Yes. I'd still be fat. But should I be helping other people? I watched my sister eat 800+ calories of junk food in the span of half an hour. She talks about being fat (she's 5/1, 128lbs), but then eats a ton of processed food.
So grossed out, no. I used to eat those foods. If I think about myself eating them, I'm a little repulsed -- not by the food -- but by the fact that if I could eat them, I probably would. But I don't crave them anymore.0 -
It doesn't gross me out as much as it makes me empathize for them. I just want to tell them that things can be different, but I understand it's not my place to tell them this. It's not my place to embarrass, degrade, or hurt them. It's only my place to encourage them if they decide to make a change.0
-
Grossed out? .. No. Completely & utterly crushed/ gutted that my co-worker can consume massive amounts of food/junk constantly, but he can't gain weight?! Yes, yes I loathe him for this
^this. Because if I could, there would be a donut hanging out my mouth right now.0 -
Food often fills a void left by personal relationships. Better to work on one's relationships than to stand back in disgust.0

YES! I have the hardest time watching my husband eat now that i dont binge like that any more.... i just want to grab the junk out of his hand and throw it away. It really does gross me out. Saying anything starts a fight so i just let him eat what he wants...i cant control him that way.
What a pleasure you must be to have around.
Se is a wonderful pleasure to be around. If you knew her story you would know why she feels this way. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, stop bashing,
I don't have to know the full story. The fact that she goes as far to say that her husband's eating grosses her out is enough for me base my opinion on. :flowerforyou:
You can't control your subconscious biases and internal reactions. All you can do is determine how these will dictate your behavior. She said she doesn't try to control her husband's behavior.
That's because he put his foot down when she tried. If she is truly grossed out, her face is going to speak volumes and who knows where this loathing of his food habits will end up touching in terms of the rest of their relationship.
This one has to be the best one yet.....Let me clarify something to you since you seem to know every thing in all your 18 yrs of life. I have been very over weight...i am not any more...I try to to the right things every day food and health wise. I cook for this man healthy every day. He is almost 400 lbs with severe diabetes and other health issues...My face shows nothing but love and compassion for this man who truly has no desire to control his eating habits. I would prefer he be around for the next 30 years and healthy. I have been fighting this battle with him for 9 years! Dont tell me he deserves someone better....his choices have put us thru alot and i am STILL HERE. I will never stop trying to help him. I need to get healthy and strong to take care of him when he cant take care of himself any longer if that happens. Again i will say, when this man has eaten at Mc donalds 3 x a day PLUS his regular meals....yeah its kinda gross....Id appreciate it if you would quit attacking me now....thanks
That still doesn't explain why you would think of him as gross. Concerned? Yes. Worrying? Yes. Gross? No, not really.0 -
doesnt gross me out at all. i dont give a crap what they eat.. and they dont give a crap what i eat.0

I figure that when I was sucking down greaseball burgers like they were going out of fashion, if I'd found out that someone was thinking I was gross or judging me, I'd have told them to go $%^& themselves, so I don't do it to others.
Ex smokers and ex fatties, man.
Srsly ex smokers and ex fatties are the worst! No, it doesn't bug me at all...sometimes it just tempts me0 -
I get quite disgusted by what people have in their baskets/trollies at the supermarket
I work in the grocery business and I am horrified by most people's purchases.0 -

You're d*mned if you do and d*mned if you don't in this situation. If you genuinely care about the person and want them to make healthy decisions so you can enjoy more time on this Earth with them, then you're too controlling. If you just let them be or even feed them when they are too large to acquire food for themselves, then you are the enabler. I saw a documentary about a woman who was feeding her husband in this way, and she was being demonized. Just like you are for expressing concern about your husband. While I tend to let everyone be as far as their eating habits go, I thought her line, "Let him find someone better" was extremely harsh.0 -

I think it says a lot more about the person who is disgusted than the person eating. Lots of junk foods have lost their appeal to me but I don't find them all disgusting, I just don't want to eat them anymore. I mean there were foods I didn't like before and foods I don't like now but there is always someone out there who likes them. I think they are projecting their insecurities and food issues on other people. If you have to force yourself to categorize foods strictly as healthy vs unhealthy or make the foods you consider "unhealthy" disgusting to stop yourself from eating them do what you have to do... but maybe try to leave everyone else out of it.0 -
when i see heavy folks, i think "you eat too much and move too little." and then i think "i hope that you desire that to change in your life, because it's not healthy." and then i reflect upon how grateful i am that i value healthy lifestyle choices. and i say a little wordless fitness prayer for them. i don't get grossed out by stuff like that. just sad.0
-
Wow! Can't say I've ever given a **** about what someone else is eating near me. That is a new level of "judging." Leave people alone and worry about yourself, FFS.0
-
I always think, 'If they can demolish food like that imagine what they're like in bed.'
Then I walk over and give them my number.
LMAO!!! :drinker:0 -

If you saw the way he shovels it in...as if it is his last meal ever then you would think thats kinda gross too. Im not even sure he tastes it , it goes down so fast, if you know what i mean. Still chewing a mouthful of chips ( not one chip at a time) and reaching into the bag for another handful before he even swallows the last one....yeah that kind of gluttony is gross.0 -
I only get grossed out if they are making a lot of noise while eating. THAT is disguisting and I sometimes have to walk away depending on how loud it is. But I don't judge by what/how much someone else eats.
ETA and my SO and daughter are such LOUD eaters
I've only lost 20 lbs so far this time around, but I have lost as much as 92 lbs in a single go. I've never really been annoyed about what other people eat. How they eat it, however, is another story. I agree that loud eating can be disturbing. I once had a roommate who ate every meal with her mouth open. Loud nose breathing + audible and visual "smack, smack" chewing + loud mouth exhale WITH FOOD IN IT = disgusting, no matter how non-judgmental I try to be. After a while, I found myself intentionally avoiding eating at home just in case seeing me eat prompted her to eat beside me. She was a super nice girl - and kind of sensitive about her weight - so I never mentioned it. But, yeah, I thought it.0 -

ah this 100 times over!!!0 -
I'm a little concerned that you are worried about others eating habits.
um.. isn't that what these forums are filled with? People who concern themselves with other's eating habits?0
