    I never have time.

Plus unless I scrub my tub on a daily basis with bleach I never feel like it'd be clean enough to just bathe in (keep it clean, scrub it every week, but it's a jacuzzi tub and has lots of jets and stuff for bacteria to get stuck in). I get kinda grossed out, it feels soupy.

That's what I'm thinking. It's not as though I'm encrusted with feces before getting in the tub.

    F-ing dying laughing hahahhahahahaha!!!!!

Thank you so much for that

I shower. I have issues with UTI's after taking baths so I just don't do it.

However, my Love mostly takes baths. He's an extremely heavy sleeper and also very hard to get up in the morning. Showering before work will make him fall asleep, so he bathes. He showers a few times a week to wash his hair and I have to stay in the bathroom talking to him to keep him awake. I think it's quite backwards but whatever works.

Sit in the tub with the shower on. . best hangover cure.

Sadly, I admit I've done this many a time in my college years.

    I like baths. BUT!!!

when i was in Japan i totally love their sauna spa things, i cant for the life of me remember what they called them, but they were always so relaxing, and i honestly wish we had them here, would be so nice, but bath is the next best thing i guess

    Onsen/sento. Love them so much!

Not an option in my current place, but in my old house I used to fill the tub, then have a quick soap-up-rinse-off in the adjacent stand-up shower before I hopped in. Was pretty close to the way it worked in my apartment in Japan with the exterior cleaning area. :)

Actually, if you talk about the bath with the tub and the exterior cleaning area in a home, they are called " Ofuro ". Onsen is the wonderful bathing that developed around hot springs ( which is what Onsen means ) and " sento " is the public bath that many neighborhoods have. When I lived in Japan from '85-'96 they were at least in Tokyo still quite popular and cheap ( something like 400.- yen ), but are now being torn down, because of the real estate value of the land and because more and more people actually have their own ofuro at home.

I'm in Japan right now. The festival has me in the fanciest hotel in town, and there is a free bus and ticket to a nearby sister hotel with an onsen. I went twice this week! Nothing like getting really clean, hanging out with other naked people in a hot spring, then getting a massage by a blind dude who kicks the crap out of your tension.

Brave man, I've lived in Japan about two years now and I still can't do public nudity.

I don't either! I don't like the idea of sitting in my own filth. Gag. IF I do happen to take a bath a shower always follows.

doesn't bother me one bit. I'll get naked on stage after soaking in cold water if asked.

I have a colleague who feels the same way you do, and that's ok too. I don't think it's about bravery. I just really don't care. Even when I was fat I didn't care. Now I'm all like, where is the mixed gender onsen?

The only good reason to have a bathtub:

^^^Yup... Although I might feel different if I had a bigger tub... I find it hilarious that my 6'3" boyfriend squeezes his body in a 5' tub... Ridiculous!

When I am shaving my legs or giving my feet a good scrub, I like to sit down. I always feel a bit uneasy in the shower like I might fall, so when things get slippery, I would rather be in the tub.

I shower more often than taking a bath because it's quicker, but I relax a lot more in the bathtub.

Unless you're peeing or pooping in it, it's not stewing in your own filth. There's a lot of water there and I don't really get why everyone thinks they are so filthy. The fact that I'm making any sort of attempt to wash myself is good enough.

Furthermore, showers assume that you are an able bodied person who can stand up, bend over, etc. So, if you're going to bash people for taking a bath, I sure hope you don't break a leg someday.

I can't remember the last time I actually took a bath. It is pretty disgusting but if you like to clean on a consistent basis, and that includes the bathtub, I guess you could take a bath if you want to frequently.

    +1 for the shower-bathers

I will wash my hair and body standing up in the shower and then sit to shave my legs and let my conditioner soak in.

I am super OCD about cleaning, so I won't even THINK about a bath unless it has been scrubbed and cleaned first. I take a shower, then I'll take a nice long relaxing bath with a glass of wine and some aromatherapy, ambient tunes..

Also wanted to +1 the shower-bathers, too!

This is a totally legitimate topic about bathes verses showers!!
Since I was a teenager I have only bathed to soak sore muscles.
Does anyone use a bath as their primary means of getting clean?

    You must smell good

If I bath I make the water so hot, almost unbearable with various things put in it to allow for detoxing :) but for cleaning, I do showers only

Agreed, though just remember to take your clothes off before you get in...:ohwell:
I shower most of the time, I do like to have a bath though when I have the time but I always shower after to just rinse away and freshen up

i am liviing in a rental apartment, we only have one tub which we use to shower in (we have one of those flexi pipes with a "phone" shower head). I think that i take a bath maybe once or twice a year - bubbles, nice music, book, put some goop in my hair and other good on my face, the whole works.

I don't ever get so filthy that I would worry about sitting in a bath full of 'filthy water'. so that part doesn't bother me.

I LOVE baths. In a super deep soaker tub that two people can fit in. I like adding powdered milk, epsom salt, dried lavender and rose petals, and Aztec clay to SUPER hot bathwater to feel like I'm in the spa. Some candles and soft music. Ahh! But I always rinse after taking a bath and a bath is a once a week (if that) treat. My dream bathroom has a separate tub and shower, and the tub has a shower wand to rinse down myself and the bathtub. I love baths, but I hate cleaning after them.

How filthy are you guys that you imagine you're soaking in the sewer when you take a bath? LOL! You could tolerate yourself just fine before you got in the tub, but when your nastiness gets all diluted in hot, soapy water you can't stand it! People are ridiculous. I bet half the stuff people are eating and drinking (and certainly most of the surfaces you're touching) is filthier than your own bath water.

Personally, I like the convenience of a shower, but nothing beats a bath after a tough workout. :drinker:
