Many times! All necessary, but these are my two favorite 911 calls. I was probably 20 or 21 and I was a smoker. I was working at a big electronics store and I was up front signing out with a friend to go have a smoke break. This ridiculous looking dude (pants literally around his knees, boxers so low you could see crack, huge puffy jacket mid-TX summer, silver crap all over his teeth. Caps?) comes in and asks "you got fitty sense?" He had a lisp but I was pretty sure he was asking me for 50 cents. I checked my pockets, said I was sorry, I didn't have any money on me, and he said "eff you, b*tch!" and walked away. Whatever. So my friend and I go out to my car to get my cigarettes and as we're walking back the well dressed gentleman is coming toward us pointing his hand like a gun and says he's going to kill us. He gets in this giant primered suburban and drives over the curb/grass trying to hit us. I stopped between a couple cars long enough to dial 911 and give the plate info. This dude is screaming obscenities out his window and coming around the other aisle of cars to try to get to us, so we looped around and made it inside before he could come back up the other aisle. The police found him a mile or so down the road and arrested him b/c he had drugs and several weapons on him. I later found out from another coworker that he was looking for the 50 Cent CD. I guess he thought I was making fun of him?

In a close tie, this call happened around the same time, working for the same place. All of our managers were attending a funeral for one of our manager's baby that passed.:frown: We were really short staffed and had a manager from a neighboring store filling in, and the loss prevention guy couldn't get him to respond to his pages. He told me there was a suspicious guy over by dvd/tv combos and asked me to go check on him. So I go back there and this guy has his back to me and he's wearing a backpack on his front side, with the straps facing me. I say "sir, is there anything I can help you with?" He turns around and his backpack is open, and full of porn dvds, and his pants are open, with his semi-hard on in his hand. Dude doesn't even bother to stop jerking it to say "I can't get this to work." < He was talking about one of the tv/dvds. I told him I'd need to find someone who could better assist him, and got the eff out of there. Called 911 on my cell, and ran around looking for a manager. Found one and explained what happened. Had never met this guy prior to this, and he responds "so he's rocking out with his c**k out, huh? I know that guy. He was at my store last week" I reluctantly followed him back to the guy. Manager told him to put it away and escorted him up front as the police got there.

Yes, a few times. Most traumatic ones are the time my dad didnt answer his phone, so I went over and found him dead.
The other was when I was the first person to come across a horrendous car crash involving a group of teens, with two of them being deceased at the scene. Its hard to get over these.:frown:

    Yes, quite a few times.

    - report drunk & SERIOUS reckless driving
    - accidents
    - domestic dispute across the street
    - major road safety issues which could cause an accident

I actually know a couple of the county operators and recognized their voice when they answered.

Just once. Called about two junkies having a screaming fight in the street. I would have ignored it, but they had a small dog that they were fighting over.

I have had to call the non-emergency line a few times; most recently when someone broke out my car window with a (full) beer bottle.

I did it once as a kid because I wanted to see what could happen. They sent a cop out to my house. Of course my parents were like, WTF?

Just once. I was due to have a baby at any point in time.. and my young neighbor showed up covered in blood saying his mom is going crazy and that his older brother was bleeding...

Scariest moment of my life. The proper authorities showed, the young fella was taken with the police and child services, and the older brother was taken via ambulance for 20 stitches in his arm.. his mother threw him through a window. Nice.

I was the reason for a 911 call. I woke my husband up and told him to call 911 because I was in labor and having the baby NOW!

The caller was great and talked my husband through the whole thing. The ambulance came shortly after. We had a healthy little baby.

For car accidents a few times, called in a roadside fire once.

My fave was an accident, though. Freshman year in college, hammered out of my mind in my dorm room, called an old girlfriend from back home. Her area code was 916, and you had to dial 9 to get an outside line from the dorms. Dialing is rather difficult when you drunk, so I apparently dialed 911 at least once while trying to dial her number. While on the phone with her the campus police come knocking on my door. I'm sure it was rather obvious that I was drunk, and of course underage, but luckily they saw I was OK, told me to "be safe," and left. Wouldn't want to have to explain that to my mom.

Three times. First when I was a waitress and one of my usual customers when into Diabetic shock?? Not sure if that is the right term, good thing there were some police already there having breakfast and they helped. The next time there was a fire in the woods behind and beside my house, that was scary, and the last time was for a fire that I saw while driving down a road, I am pretty sure it was a lightning fire.

A couple times. There was a car accident outside my house. I heard the tires squeal and the crash, so I went outside. It looked like one of the drivers was holding their head, so I called it in. And there were half a dozen other looky-lous just standing a few feet away watching.

Another time I woke up in the middle of the night to hearing glass smashing and a woman screaming "you're a f-ing rapist!" I was about to pick up the phone to call when three cop cars pulled up to the house next door to me. Apparently the argument/assault had been going on for a while before it woke me up.

One other time there was a dog running in and out of traffic on the highway during rush hour. I called that in but they already knew.

lol at this whole comment. Some peoples definition of living doesn't include going to jail and being drugged up.

    Sounds like a blast..

And what does kissing girls have to do with living?

Nope. I am always the guy who points to a person, and says, "You. Call 911"

Your definition of living and my definition are way, waaaaay different.

I don't consider doing drugs or getting arrested living. But hey if you think being drugged up and spending your time in a tiny windowless room and having all of your freedoms taken away from you is the way one "lives" then have at it. :drinker: I prefer to spend my time out side, cognizant and free.:flowerforyou:
