"I'd do ya"
from a sleezy nasty looking co worker who really thought he was giving me THE compliment of the day
 uh no ya wont
Or my ex
"How much weight did you lose?''
"TWENTY POUNDS"   (dancing happy shaking my butt)
"Oh, is that all?"
(later to tell me it was meant as a compliment.....never figured it out but you notice the EX in the sentence )0 -
"you'd make a really pretty plus-size model."0

You look good for having kids. Because mom = lard troll ??
Same thing here! I mean seriously!0 -

"Of course they don't believe your age, fat people always look younger"0

Wow are you pretty, you would be gorgeous if you lost 30lbs. NO JOKE. Heard it from an old timer while I was bartending at the local bar.
Yup, I heard this one too. Except it was from someone I had just started dating at the time, and it was 50# not 30. Nice, huh? :ohwell: :huh:0 -
"You're big-boned like your Father so you really don't look that bad carrying around the extra weight. Besides, (gives me a wink) we all know guys like big boobs."
Yeah, thanks Mom...0 -
Just had a read through this thread - some are absolute shockers!
Mine are:
1) from a former work colleague "congratulating" me on my weight loss - "Yeah, I can tell you've lost a bit, your neck looks really thin". Erm...thanks?
2) from an ex - "you were just the fat c*nt who lay next to me in bed and never touched me". W*nker!
3) from a stranger who a mutual male friend introduced me to - "You've got a face like a bag of spanners". Lovely.
4) from Mother-in-Law - "I don't know why you're bothering to try and lose weight, your Mum's fat". FYI, the MIL is also trying to lose weight to go from a size 16 and she has a size 8/10 daughter. Of course, I was so shocked when she said it, this information completely disappeared from my mind, damnit!0 -
Worst genuine compliment:
First date with my BFF who I'd loved since we were 16. (We were about 20 when this happened.) I dress up, pretty dress, hair up, got my nails done. We're in the restaurant, and he's gazing at me. I smile.
"What's up?"
"I was just thinking..."
Ooh, he's about to say something nice!
"It's actually a good thing your nose isn't any smaller, or your face would look unbalanced."
Facepalm.
Again, this was a GENUINE compliment. Over the years I've told the story to friends and family members, inevitably to either looks of horror or screams of laughter, and he always looks confused, like, "What did I say that's so wrong?" Chufflebrain. He's still my BFF, but I don't bother to do my hair or nails when we go out nowadays, and my clothing choices are determined by whether it shows enough leg for him to not be looking at my face.
Worst "compliment":
Some youngling PUA who'd been trying out negging on me:
Him: You know, you're kind of pretty. Not my type, but pretty.
Me: Thanks.
Him: Oh my god, your nose is all red and shiny, it's so cute! You look like an Eskimo.
Me: I am.
Him: [face falls] Uh, what?
Me: I am. Good eyes. Most people don't pick up on that.
Him: Oh...um...thanks. [clearly at a loss as to where he should now go with this, shuffles away]

From a guy friend who isn't exactly winning any beauty pageants himself: "You have the personality, just not the body." I went home afterwards and cried.0
-
Someone called me skinny once.... made me :sad:0
-
"I don't care what anyone else thinks. I think you are beautiful!!" LOL Really?!?! Guessing the rest of the world thinks I'm atrocious! LOL0
-
just last week, "I feel so fat and my husband doesn't like me like this. I was 115 when we met and sometimes he will tell me not to have seconds because I have gained so much weight. My sister in law has gotten really skinny and she said she just stopped eating to lose weight.. But you are a big girl and that's your thing."
Don't really think that's a compliment, but I took it as one because I'm not crash dieting to please my *kitten* husband.0 -
Before losing weight, an older (bigger) woman who I hadn't seen for years told me: "I am SO GLAD you gained some weight! You always looked so fragile to me, like you could break at the slightest touch, like a twig."
Gee, thanks. Yeah gaining weight is the best thing that ever happened to me.....0 -
"You are everything I ever wanted in a woman... Smart, kind, fun... but you just aren't pretty enough"
Said by my SO 10 months after the birth of our second child when we had a brand new 2 year old and a 10 month old at home. I guess the first part was a compliment, right?0 -
I've also gotten, "You're mixed? Oh, well, you're white enough to pass." (It's always been from tourists in London, and I've had to actually explain that in England this is not something many people, if anyone, wants to hear.) Yeesh.0

"You could really be beautiful if you lost some serious weight" or my favorite "You have a really pretty face".
 :explode: :noway: :sad:0 -
"I'm proud of you for losing weight. But I preferred it when you had bigger boobs."0
-
"you don't sound like you're from West Virginia."
um... thanks?
Locals would say this to me when I was growing up. Pretty consistently. I took it as a compliment.0 -
bahahahahaha!!!0
-
My Grandma always said that she and I were in the Fat Girls Club. Thanks. SO. Much.0
-
'You're so pretty that if you just lose weight you would probably find a man"
Poor kid doesnt get it..0 -

-
"but i like your little weiner"0
-
This one was from my friend - Your ankles look so small - it's only because your calves are so big though. :noway:0
-
I don't think you use the word friend in the same sense I do.0
-
"OMG, you look just like Chastity Bono!"
(Thank goodness at least that was PRE-sex change!)0 -
"you'd be much more handsome if you weren't such an *kitten*"
actually! Wat! That's the best compliment I've ever gotten0 -
Just got this one over on the "which celebrity does the person above you look like"
" you look like Lena Dunham w/long hair.."
 Sorry but I think I'm way prettier LOL0
