    I got real sick from doing this, and hurt so bad I ended up going to my Doctor. I will not do anything like that again without talking to my doctor first. If you are normal don't do it. I regretted it!! Good luck

    Hi, I appriciate everyones responce, but unless you have actually done a juice cleanse or have something useful to say, I don't need to hear it. I have read pros and cons about it, I am looking for some real life expirience, not snide remarks about diarreah and such. So, unless you actually have something to say, don't bother responding. Thanks :)

    Your body already cleanses itself....the only thing you will be cleansing is your wallet.

    Word! You liver and kidneys do just fine without "cleanses".

    Well I'm going to be the odd man out but I've actually done a cleanse before and enjoyed it. I didn't do all that much research, but one of my co-workers was doing it and I decided to do it with him. We did the cleanse for 4 days. I wasn't doing it to try to lose weight, I just wanted to see what it was like and see how I felt afterwards.

    Breakfast each day was a fresh juice from a local juice bar, I tried switching it up each morning, but have to say that I really didn't like the beet juices. Your mouth turns a weird shade of pink and your pee even turns pink along with your #2. lol I also don't LOVE beets, so that was another problem. Also side note, I did only have 1 bowel movement over the course of the 4 days. Anyways! for lunch, usually I'd grab some pre-pressed juices from the juice bar I had visited each morning. They usually had some sort of apple, celery, kale juice freshly pressed and 'to-go' so I'd stick to those for lunch. For dinners, I stuck to juice 2 of the nights of the cleanse from the juice bar, and 2 of the nights I had some vegetable broth. I know that was 'cheating' but I was craving some salt, so that's what I did.

    As far as other options, I did have some yogurt once or twice as well as some fresh berries. Basically anything 'soft' that was easy on my digestion was fine by me. I never really felt that hungry because I went in with the mindset of 'this is what I'm doing for 4 days'....somehow that made it work. At that point in time I wasn't on MFP consistently so I don't know if I lost weight or what, but I felt good afterwards. I am not sure if I'd do it again because I just love food so much, but if you want to try it you should. It's only 3 days and you'll figure out afterwards if it was right for you! :-)

    Why ? *sigh* Please explain the need to juice fast to me & maybe we can all juice fast together. I did a fast for medical reasons & believe me it wasn't something I would do again. Day 1 was juice & water & chicken broth. Day 2 water only. Oh was I ever "clean" The weight lost was gained back as soon as I was able to eat.

    I've never done juicing but I do usually have a green smoothie every day (using a blender)-this keeps the fiber and is a great way to get in the veggies and fruit. It also keeps things moving along very regularly (as in 2-3 times a day lol). I add chia or hemp seeds to mine as well :)

    I am not asking to tell me what i want to hear because what I want to hear are more or less real life pros and cons. I appriciate your responce and although it had a very snide tone, it was helpful. Thank you.

    I've done two five-day cleanses. I considered it less of a "cleanse" and more of a reset button. It definitely put the following things into perspective: portion sizes, how much salt and hot sauce I was consuming (not that there's anything wrong with hot sauce) and how much sugar I craved.

    The first cleanse went really well - by day three, I was walking on air. I had tremendous energy. I lost five pounds and kept three of them off.

    The second cleanse didn't go well - I was on an exercise program that I couldn't stop because I had already paid for it, and I just couldn't recover from the workouts. It was terrible and I was miserable.

    I think juice fasts are a great way to "reset" - and three days is completely doable. I wouldn't expect tremendous weight loss, but definitely expect to shrink your actual "stomach" - as in, the sack inside your belly that holds food. :-)

    before I joined MFP I did it few times. I even did it for a week. geez.....the first days were hard headache, bad mood, super hungry, tired and all, this all gets better after 2/3 days. After a few days you feel like you can walk in the woods and smash some trees. weight loss is a plus but that **** comes back. So end of this song is...for what? Now I would say one day or so after a ****ty weekend would be good. but healthy food is too.

    And I think the word "cleanse" is a misnomer. I never had any unusual gastrointestinal side effects at all during the three days I was on my "cleanse."

    By the way, all the juice recipes I used during the 3-day cleanse are noted in the blog.

    After Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead hit the UK TV I managed to warn some doctors and dietitians to weigh in on this and be prepared for everyone to start going juice cleanse crazy.
    I think this will also be next year's January thing, the British Dietetic are still reviewing their 'Fad Diet' food fact sheets to include this new stuff.

    I can't say what they said obviously, 5+ years in medical school and the decades they've spent practising doesn't, unfortunately according to you, qualify them to answer on this thread.

    Why is it everyone keeps telling me fruit isnt good in large quanities? what does this have to do with my question? I've already stated the juice that I will be consuming if i deside on doing this will consist of mostly veggies.

    Uh no, your stomach doesn't shrink. It's the size it is when it's empty, you can't change that.

    Actually you haven't really stated much of anything. What toxins are you trying to remove? Why do you think this might be an effective way of removing said toxins?

    Real life response here. I have done this several times and learned it's useless. Long story short, it's a waste of money and I only lost the water weight which came right back in 2 days or less. Just up your water intake, drink hot green tea with your meals.
