  • my favourite one for almost any situation is

    Patience is a virtue.

It is repeated in my head maybe half a dozen times an hour. Especially when the kids annoy me. LOL

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

"Soreness is the screams of your muscles saying 'THANK YOU!'" (Came up with that one on my own, but I'm sure there's similar out there. Been saying it to myself a lot lately since getting more serious about strength training.)

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - without a doubt you are correct.

  • Remember how far you have come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be.

It's from Rick Warren's book, one of my all-time favorites. Not just for fitness, but applies whenever I feel like giving up. Just keep going. ;)

"One bad meal won't make you fat. Just like one good meal won't make you thin."

That quote really helped me change my mindset concerning food when I was trying to get a handle with my eating habits.

an mfp and rlf told me this a few months ago. it really changed the way i looked at food. he actually said, "one burger didn't make you fat, just like one salad won't make you skinny."

another favorite of mine is, "who's in your mirror?"

A good attitude, a good diet and a healthy lifestyle starts in the mind. This quote is a reminder to me that my mind controls my body and that positive thoughts lead to positive actions.

Motivation is what gets your started. Habit is what keeps you going.

I like this because motivation comes and goes but if you build good habits they become part of your routine and you will continue them even when you are not motivated.

    Very true. I like that.

    This is my collection:

    Some of my own coinages:

Fitness: It's not just an adventure. It's a job!
The two most vulgar curse words in our language are... "I can't"
Resist for 15 minutes and you'll forget you were even tempted
My mind says "it's slavery"... but my mirror says "it's freedom!"
    Don't call them "do-nuts"... they're "do-nots"
"I'll try" is a wish. "I will" makes it come true
Wake up with determination, go to bed with satisfaction
"Buffet" is French for "Do Not Enter"
    Dieting is 1% motivation, 99% habit-formation
Walk into a restaurant with a plan and walk out with pride
