If it tastes good, spit it out.
This is disordered thinking. Since your profile says you are recovering from anorexia, I urge you to back away from this.
I've spent the day thinking about your reply to my little quip. Thank you for your concern, but It was not meant to be literal. It was meant to be funny. An old friend told me that little ditty years ago, and it still makes me laugh. This whole weight loss thing would be pretty dismal if you couldn't laugh about it a little bit.
Bravo    I went on a diet once that I called "don't eat anything you like"....  :laugh:0 -
Quitting your diet because of a slip up is like dropping your phone and then saying oh well I might as well stomp on it until its completely smashed.0

Every time you end a sentence with "....but I don't have time", take a second to substitute it for " ......but it's not a priority for me". Then see how that kicks your butt.
i.e. "I need to go for a run but I don't have time" or "I need to go for a run but it's not a priority for me"
Once you get into the habit of exchanging it, things will change really quickly!!0 -
Don't bullsh*t yourself.
You're the only one who can control your actions.0 -
"A lion does not lose sleep over the thoughts of sheep." Not sure who said it...I saw it on an image on pinterest.0

Actually a quote from my 24 year old daughter, more about life than about losing weight:
"I don’t need extraordinary events when I’m with extraordinary people."0 -
What is that one quote or picture that gets your through those rough times?
The one I repeat to myself is "One day at a time".
The butt you want will not come from sitting on the one you have!!!0 -

I know people who would say that they did not want to start working out because they would become a slave to working out. My line to them is:
" I WOULD RATHER BE A SLAVE TO MY BODY THAN A PRISONER OF MY BODY'0 -
"I can't go back to yesterday because I was a different person then." ~Alice in Wonderland (ONEderland?)0

"The best way to fight weakness is with strength" --Henry Rollins
From his essay "The Iron," which I try to read a few times a year.0 -
I have a few, but two that I've brought up recently in conversation are:
"To go fast, go alone. To go far, go together"
(Guess I've always been a team-oriented kind of guy, so I like this one a lot.)
And:
"Character is what we do after the emotion of the event has passed"
(I love the ubiquitous image of a solitary athlete--think Rocky Balboa montage--training in anonymity. I always want to be that guy...the one who works hard even after the cheers of the crowd have died down and the stadium is empty.)

ETA: Gotta add one more. My mom always liked to recite this little poem:
"For every problem under the sun;
there is a solution, or there is none.
If there is a solution, hurry and find it;
if there is none, never-mind it."
I love your mom's poem - awesome! :drinker:0 -
You didn't gain weight over night, don't expect to lose it overnight either
One foot in front of the other, gets you there0 -
It hurts now but one day, it'll be your warm up0

Over my life I have received some good advice that seems to work here.
From my grandmother: you can't become what you wish to be if you remain as you are.
From my dad: there are only 2 questions....what's the problem and what are you going to do about it...if you aren't going to do anything, you ain't got a problem, you just got a situation...
From my mom: change or don't change, fix it or don't fix it, but please don't whine about it!
I love that these three people have been in my life.
You have wise grownups in your life.0 -
"It's not HOW it's the WHY... How you lost the weight is the easy part. Why you're overweight takes some inner reflection."
Once I figured that out, it got SO much easier. I snacked all day and ate well beyond my daily calorie intake.... once I figured that out and how to curb it, things got easy.0 -
