Any child free peeps on MFP?

No judgement, of course.
Immediately followed bySome people just aren't cut out to be parents and that's perfectly ok.
Which is pretty typical of many of the experiences of those who choose to be child free. Whilst it may not be intended to come across as judgement, it certainly does.
fwiw whilst I personally choose to be CF many people think I'd be a good father. But you need to understand that you are opting out of something that brings millions of people the most indescribable joy and life satisfaction.
And equally it brings many indescribable misery, both parents and associated children.0 -
Hubby wanted children, I wasnt sure. Mother nature made the decision for us CF...... although my three cats are my babies so maybe not so.... :huh:0

Childfree here. Never wanted kids since I was a kid myself. When I imagine how I want my life to be, children just don't figure into that at all. Plus, with 100+ pounds to lose, I definitely don't want to get pregnant after reaching my goal weight and undoing a lot of work.0

No kiddos here, but I totally understand their value... for farming gold in MMOs. Free babysitting services, hit me up!0

no kids!!0

I don't have any. I don't dislike kids -- I just never had the urge. Other women run to babies when they see them and want to pick them up and coo, etc. Not me. But put a dog or cat in front of me and I'm in LOVE.0

I'm childfree! Add me! A warning though: many childfree people add, "I love kids. I just don't want my own. Childfree does not mean child haters!"
Well, for me it does. I don't like kids. I have to pretend to think kids are cool in my professional and social life and it's always such a chore. People who understand we're never having kids try to find examples of KIDS BEING CUTEEE to prove me wrong. No I don't think that flower girl did something fun or that baby's hat is adorable.
Social media has made friends with children even more unbearable.0 -
No kids here0

I have no kids. Will not and cannot have children in the future. I do have a dog and two cats though.0

Maybe you should find a different profession?0 -
28 years old - no children, not planning for any in the future. I hope to one day own lots of pets!0

29 and child free with no plans of children in the future.
I think being the oldest of 8 is what's caused me to get the nasty taste in the back of my mouth when I see children running around.
But i love animals0 -
I am.0

I work in IT. It just happens that there are a lot of first time dads at my company who [incorrectly] assume everyone cares about/is dying to see pictures of their offspring. A lot of people think that 20-something newlywed women LOVE babies and can't wait to have 12. This is a problem in society at large.1 -

No children here, too much responsibility, they can't fend for themselves for the most part...0

Yea, God forbid someone be proud to show off their kid.

Being an auntie is great; being a parent, no thanks - decided that before I even started school. See my profile for my tagline.0

I just saw this topic on my homepage and want to join, I am CFBC!
I don't have a problem with kids, I just know I don't want the expense/time/effort associated with raising another human being. I'd rather travel and have a little more freedom and choice in my life. We have a niece and a nephew via my husband's brother, and will probably have more via mine. That's enough for me.
It's funny because my girlfriends all are understanding, the ones who are planning/in process of/already have children. They get that it's a choice. But at work I work with primarily men who are primarily older than I am and they are all like 'oh just wait you'll change your mind' etc etc.
But I won't. Definitely not. Had essure done last year and no regrets. Totally painless and now I don't have to remember to take a pill every day.0 -
I've been married for 5 years...to the man of my dreams and we have chosen not to have children of our own, or adopt etc.
We admit we are selfish dinks...double income no kids types of people...
However I don't fit in the child free group...I would have been child free had my BC not had an epic fail at 21...
I never ever ever wanted kids...ever ever ever...ever...EVER..but I have one...although he is 20...
Can I be an honorary member????
PS I don't like kids...they are snotty little brats...babies smell funny, preteens are icky, teens are impossible...they aren't half bad when they become semi adults.
ETA: I married him specifically because he didn't want kids..0 -
To each their own happiness in life, but I choose to be child free. ^-^0

Right? I know that there must seriously be something in the water where I work because there are pregnant women walking about all over the place who are on the verge of popping, women who have recently had kids (within the last couple to few months), or women who go on and on about having kids. And it's not just the women at my job either, I overhear quite a few gushing men talking about their pregnant wives.
Anyhow, if that is what makes those people happy, then I say more power to them; however, all I ask for is that they not just automatically assume I care about their kids. I don't want to hear the newest story about how Timmy dresses up like Batman and runs around the house or how cute and adorable little Maggie sounds when she tries to pronounce certain words. I. Don't. Care. Seriously, I don't. Please, please just leave me out of that conversation completely.
That's my story and i'm sticking to it.0 -
I love kids but I do not want them. This world scares me far too much..0

I'm childless, although my husband ( second husband of 7 years) and I did try. I think I was too old and his vas reversal didn't help the odds.
We have four wonderful, grown children and four grandchildren from my husband's first marriage but I regret never having had the opportunity to raise my own child.0 -
no kids by choice, funny how I knew at an early age like 11, one of my Italian aunts asked how many I wanted, I said none, oooh the horror, I think they were planning an exorcism   :laugh:0

Haha I definitely get that. I'm the oldest of 8, my dad is the youngest of 8. We have a large family in general. My younger sisters are having kids now and I've always just been like....meh, no thanks.0 -
I am about 90% sure I am never going to want kids0
-
I've never had a desire to have children and like a lot of women, I was told I'd change my mind but it never happened. I'm 44 with no regrets about reproducing. I have super sweet, smart, adorable husband who also never wanted children so we spoil our three cats and enjoy our peaceful household. Raising children is really challenging.... ideally, it's best done by people who genuinely enjoy children and want that experience and that's not us.0

Enough cats to count as a crazy cat lady.
Plus I'm gay so yeah.0
