Tattoos -- Yay or nay?

Absolutely a Ney here. People are free to add graffiti or art to their bodies if that is important to them. I wish they would think about any possible negatives before they start. I am an employer and any visible tattoos mean that you probably are not going to get hired. I have never heard an employer say "I hired the applicant because of the cool tattoos" but I have heard one say the opposite.
Is this an excerpt from an outdated HR book?
I am also an employer. I don't care about tattoos so long as you are good at your job and good with people.
BUT WHAT THE HELLO DO I KNOW.
Exactly.
I work for one of the largest law firms in the country. When my hair is cut short the one on the back of my neck is pretty visible. Does anyone care? Apparently not, because if it was a problem I would have been told to scarf it up a long time ago. Granted, I don't regularly attend judicial proceedings, but that's when I would use my own best judgment and wear a collared shirt to cover it up. Just because an individual has tattoos doesn't mean that she is not an intelligent, hardworking person or that she can't be professional when it's required of her.0 -
Love them in general, but there are some people walking around with UGLY tatts......I'm included in that one unfortunately. I dated a scratcher who gave me one. Regret it very much, but my hubby will be designing something to go over it at some point. I also want to get an anatomically correct heart locket on one wrist and a skeleton key on the other and I want my hubby to get the same on the opposite wrists so we have the keys to each other's hearts(very corny, but he's on board. lol)0

tattoos are a work of art! i love them0

Yay...I just got my first one for my 40th birthday! I took the sound wave image files of my parents telling me in Italian that they love me and had a tattoo designed. I had several options to choose from, but narrowed it down to these two. I went with the double hearts.

It is a great form of personal expression that tons of people do.0

Wasn't expecting to find so much tattoo hate in here! To each their own, I guess. I do think it's silly that some employers discriminate against people who have tattoos. Unless it's some incredibly awful face tattoo or something, what bearing does that have on their character, or their ability to do their job? I know quite a few successful people in high-paying jobs with visible tattoos. I don't see why it's an issue.0

definitely YAY! ..btw i started getting ink 20+ yrs ago before the fad. its a shame people still hold these antiquated views on how others decorate their bodies. who is anyone to judge? silly...0

I regret most of my tats simply because I got them done about 25-30 years ago, back then nobody got sleeves done, i would love clean arms to start with now. But to answer the question....YAY!!!!!0

you specifically quoted someone who said- I HATE THEM AND EVERYONE THAT HAS THEM.... and said- I"M WITH YOU SISTA.
Here to for- you hate people with tattoos.
And on top of that- you know EVERY single person who has a tattoo and are sitting in a place where you feel you can pass judgement and call them ALL freaks?
That's really interesting. I wonder how someone gets to that position.0 -

Imma stop this before it gets too deep. Look at my profile pics, and the pics of the person I was responding to.0 -
Always wanted one....just one that would take up the right side of my rib cage down to thigh but scared I wont find the best artist...Will they stencil something that large?0
-
I LOVE tattooed chicks. Colored hair and piercings are also very hot, IMHO. Got 2 tattoos myself and intend to get more. Will probly get a sexy pinup or something on my right forearm.0
-
yes. so much yes. I find them almost hypnotic. I am fascinated and mesmerised by a lot of tattoos. none myself as yet but there are a few in the planning stages.0
-
Nope, not on me, not on other people.0

Definitely a YAY! I plan on having more ink done once more of my student loans are paid off and I have more cash. Right now I only have one on my left shoulder of some stars, and a larger one with Celtic knotwork on my right upper arm. Husband has more than me, but he's also been alive for five years longer, so I have time to catch up.0

I do want a tattoo. As a regular blood donor (I needed emergency surgery and 4 units of blood once and feel the need to pay that back with mega interest) getting one would defer me for donation for a full year. Can't bring myself to do it. If or when something else causes me to be deferred from donation for any length of time then I will get the tattoo I want. It's in my head and I know who I want to develop it and do the work.0

I've always liked the idea of tattoos until I realise I can barely decide what shoes to wear in the morning, let alone what I want inked on me for life. Certainly all the potential designs I fancies at various times in the past no longer appeal.0

I love them and I am currently having a nerdy sleeve but it's what I want. I have to say though even though my boss is cool with them and has no issues with mine being on display I understand that some do discriminate people with them so my face and hands are off limits so they can be covered if need be.0

Tramp stamps Nayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!0

My hubby is pretty much covered and I LOVE them A man with quality ink is SOOOO sexy IMO.
I feel exactly the same way about women. A girl with good ink is incredibly sexy. Have you seen the current UK issue of Skin Deep. The cover model is Courtney Lloyd. Never heard of her before, but dayum!
I'm also planning my 2nd tattoo (had my first one done about 15 years ago, never regretted it, always wanted more) hence the copy of Skin Deep. We Brits are one of the most tattooed nations on earth I reckon. As long as you're not tattooed above the shirt collar then it's no barrier to having a respectable job too. How things change hehe0
