I gained weight with a healthy paleo lifestyle, because I binged on potatoes with butter due to depression for several months.

I'm sure someone must have mentioned this already, but....
Butter and Potatoes aint no Paleo foods.
Contended, yes - but I'll rebut by pointing out that eating potatoes and butter isn't a "healthy paleo lifestyle".

You sound like some of the vegetarians on here that don'tactually eat much veg. They just avoid meat and eat buttered toast all day.

Yes, I'm in a bit mean mood today - but i love y'all really

Why should weight loss be a "challenge"?

OMG, if you don't like what they're talking about, then pick a different board!

Honey, you are still in a very healthy weight range.
Actually pretty much exactly where I sit and I'm still seen as "thin" and "fit"

Being in that healthy weight range let me tell you it's a b*tch to lose weight.

I understand shooting for that low number but reasses your goals and come up with something healthier and more realistic and sustainable.

Get to the gym and fall in love with some weights. You'd be amazed but after some time lifting your body does wonderful things.

    Eat more.

    Good luck.

You are 22yo, 5'7", 152lbs, female. I entered that info into a BMI calculator. Your BMI is 23.8. Normal range for someone with your stats is 18.5-24.5. It will be VERY difficult for you to lose 2lbs a week consistently, and if you do, you will be losing lean mass, not fat. 2lbs is doable for obese/overweight people - not so much for people in a normal weight range.

But hey, do want you gotta do. If (and when) you get frustrated with your progress you may want to consider reading these links>>>

I'm just gonna leave this right here.

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal

This guy here might disagree about 1200 calories to be too low and increased risk of lean mass loss:

    http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=161394563
A thread from BB.com is your source? LOL just LOL

Ok. I'm not a frequent visitor there nor here but enlighten me what is wrong with bb.com. I mean yeah some of them are on steroids but to gain mass not to lose it. I'm sure average population on bb knows more about nutrition than average population here. Or am I wrong?

    Because like someone just said
Most of the advice on this page that is to the contrary to the OPs post is looking out for the OP over the long term. They are trying to assist in not only losing the weight but keeping the weight off for good, preventing rebound gains, and future binges.

and this website should be rather used for realistic, healthy and long term weight loss, which to be honest always has to be seen as a lifestyle change!

Hence weight loss should not be a challenge as that certainly is the wrong frame of mind for a lifestyle change!

I have been on a 1000 calorie a day for almost 2 years.
I am not on a diet, that is my new life style.
    Your goal is very do-able!
    I say go for it!

Well, my dinner alone is typically 1400-1600 calories so I'm out... I guess. I still want friends to pierce the clouds of my loneliness though... AM I FOREVER CONDEMNED?!?!?

Sorry, but there is a huge difference in calorie requirements from a 22 year old to a 62 year old woman!

I am just going to assume that after the OP loses the 20 pounds, or doesn't, she'll just go back to eating potatoes loaded with butter. I would love to see one of these threads where people are taking the time to give real advice based on their own and thousands of other MFP users actually make a difference. Its a bummer that it falls on deaf ears. They really are trying to help.

Welcome. I know this site works as I lost 20 lbs but unfortunately, stopped using it and in last 9 months out back on 15 lbs. had to buy new clothes and am pissed at myself. I started to have a glass of wine here and there which led to two and binging. Now the hips r back on!!! I think 15 lbs in 10 weeks is possible. I tossed the wine and started to log.

i don't think 1200 a day is unreasonable, especially if you are allowing yourself to earn more by exercising.
may be easier as i don't eat meat...but i do love cheese :)
i have been doing this for about 6 weeks now and have lost 18lb, now down to 140lb

it has slowed down recently, so i just need to figure out why to get it kickstarted again

    any ideas?

You can totally lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks with daily exercise and diet. People on here bashing this are trolls, overweight, or don't even have real pics. I lost 25 pounds last year in 2 months so it is possible. I wouldn't recomen staying at that calorie level once you lose the weight though. Try uping it a little when you make your goal and weigh yourself daily to see what's the right amount of cals you need to maintain.
