Laurie - conquering the Butterfly stroke in swimming is hard for a kid much less an adult - way to go to persist and complete 4 laps without swimming to China!

Hansea - your bike ride around the lake sounded dreamy....

Pamela - You and Audrey showed gumption today! Gumption galore......

Tanya - Atta girl! Great attitude toward August's challenge - me to....

ebailey - I agree your tummy problems reflect stress related to job promotion - have you tried OTC Prilosec? Its the first thing Docs order now for continuing stomach distress and it does make a difference to a lot of people and does not cause problems if taken and it is not the correct remedy. After a trial of that, you could then seek medical attention. I'm not being rash to recommend this - you could talk to your pharmacist about Prilosec and ask his opinion about it.

Teresa - what do you sell - it sounds like something big like cars or appliances? I love a clean house and fridge too - I feel such a sense or reward when I'm done! :drinker:

littleshadow - If the ENT ruled out sinuses, and you know your migraine profile, ask your primary doc about an MRI and a neurology referral - it could be nerve involvement so it should be a specialist in that area - I am merely speculating at this point however - NOT an expert!

great mileage - you didn't let anything stop you but a migraine ( ouch  ) and a storm - IMPRESSIVE!

Tanya - I liked that you also reported activity minutes in lieu of miles - its encouraging for our non-running or walking members to see. THANKS!

WalkingQueen - Watching SALT is another excellent idea for personalizing the August challenge -- a very important item to watch. Glad to hear you have been staying under calories - how have you been avoiding cravings?

Mommy - welcome! You'll make friends here quite easily and get plenty of support! :flowerforyou:

jtconst - it is so nice to hear from you but dreadful to see you are experiencing such a radical change in lifestyle - glad to see you have accepted it and made a game plan. Such an inspiring attitude

april showers - your wish made me laugh - thanks!

LivesTT - a Big Box of anything to me signals DANGER AHEAD!!! Peppermint Patties - OMG.....

Kah - glad your running and PINCHING -aww fun games with kittehs.....

    Biturner -

Tom - only knew my Grandmothers for a very brief time but both were dignified women! I honor them this very moment - Thanks for putting me on this earth, Ladies!

AFM: MY Weds. Wish is for more days in the week - maybe a day between Tuesday and Wednesday called Catch-Up day. That would be not counted by anybody for anything - a permanent personal day.

    Mileage for 7/23: 4.5 (2-water aerobics, 2.5 walking).
Karen, I wish I could have had my tree out for the price you got yours done for. It is huge. Four men and a big truck got about half done today. They brought a 60 foot bucket truck and the top branches are 20 feet above that. I even have saw dust on the covered deck in the back yard. I don't know how it got clear back there. I asked the man in charge to please measure the stump before he grinds it out.
Tanya, I am doing the same thing with my logging. I need the August challenge to get me back to good habits.
Busy day. I kept Nicole's kids for a couple of hours this afternoon while I made another 4 dozen scones. I started out good with the logging, but didn't finish good. Tomorrow is a church pot luck. I'm going to log it somehow. I ran into a friend at the chiropractor's office. She told me that she is watching for an invitation to the party. Apparently Nicole has been telling mutual friends that she is giving a party when I reach 100# gone. So my wish today is that I don't end up having to combine that party with our 50th wedding anniversary party next June. I would like to have it much sooner.

@laurie--thanks for the update on the mileage. Congrats on nailing the Butterfly stroke! :drinker:

@hansea--I find that when I focus on getting more protein, my carbs/sugar naturally come down. It's easier for me to add protein than to focus on decreasing carbs. I know it's mostly psychological, but it works for me.

@pamella--I'm off for the summer (I'm a teacher), but during the school-year, I find I also need to change into my walking.running clothes immediately upon arriving home and take my dog out. If I sit down on the couch, it's really hard to motivate myself to get back up off my behind.

@tanya--I've been less than diligent about logging as well--looking forward to the August challenge as well!

@erienne--I would say congrats, but I don't want to jinx you.

@tammy--sounds like a good plan to keep yourself busy around the house--sorry you have to deal with being stuck there. :flowerforyou:

@heidi--that's really strange that the ENT said your condition isn't sinus related. I also get migraines and I've never had those particular symptoms though I know migraines come in many forms. I'm sorry that this isn't getting resolved before your trip, but I know you will persevere and have a good time with your family.

@kelley--my original goal was to completely clean out the spare room and paint. Then I wanted to rearrange some of the furniture in there with some of the furniture in our other spare room. However, the summer is getting away from me, and I fear I will be lucky to just get some of the junk cleaned out and get it re-organized. :ohwell: Crossing my fingers that you get good news on the thumb tomorrow!

@L2T--that is going to be my goal as well. However, there's no way I can hit the 30% goal on days when I have big calorie burns (I've tried in the past), so my goal will be to hit 100g of protein/day minimum while also staying under my allowance. I am fortunate that I don't like mint, so those York patties don't tempt me. Now Reese's peanut butter cups are another story...:blushing:

    Wednesday Wish:
I wish it didn't take an entire day to get my house cleaned! I spent all morning cleaning--dusted, swept. vacuumed, washed rugs, etc. I still wasn't done but took a "break" to get the lawn mowed and do some other yard work. Then tonight I cleaned the kitchen appliances and mopped the floor in there. Now, it's midnight and I'm exhausted.

I don't think I'll get to the gym tomorrow b/c I have lunch plans and then may go see a band in the evening. If that ends up happening, I'll switch the gym to Friday.

    Goals:
    1. wash/dry clean all drapes in house
    2. shred old files
    3. clean out spare bedroom

    Exercise Goals:
    Mon--walk gunner DONE
Tues--walk gunner DONE + gym DONE
    Wed--walk gunner DONE
    Thurs--walk gunner + gym
    Fri--walk gunner
    Sat--walk gunner
    Sun--walk gunner + gym

    July Goal = 100 miles

Robin, the ENT did mention a neuro consult so perhaps that will be the next step. I'm no expert either, all I know is how I feel!

Laurie- 4.59 miles is correct. I'm not counting actual miles bike, but converting exercise minutes to miles for my rides.

Robin- I'd like that Catch up Day too. :) The lake loop so close to my house is beautiful. I'm pretty lucky to have it around!

Skinny- I'm pretty sure I'm going with more protein. Like you said, it's easier mentally to say you can or should add something than it is to deny ourselves.

Shadow- I hope a neuro consult helps. Enjoy your family time!

Kaye- We have a tree that's going to cost us about $1200 to remove. Lucky for us it's healthy. Just too close to the house so we've had issues with a few downed branches during big storms, but we're able to put it off for a while yet.

Thursday Truth- For you that look at food diaries you will see I struggle with what I eat. I am really bumming today because last Saturday I ate a whole medium pizza by myself for some reason all day I just couldn't get full. Now the consequences of that bad choice are showing on the scale. I was doing so well chugging right along and boom I hit the wall. I know it is one day at a time and it is only one week. Scale just made me feel shameful.

    Good morning all.

CHEERS! HAPPY NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY! The annual celebration of National Tequila Day is on July 24th.
    • Tequila is a distilled beverage which is made from the blue agave plant.
    • Made primarily in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, 40 miles Northwest of Guadalajara and in the highlands (Los Altos) of the western Mexican state of Jalisco.
    • More than 300 million blue agave plants are harvested in that surrounding region each year.
    • Agave tequila grows differently depending on the region.
    • Blue Agave – grown in the highlands region – larger in size and sweeter in aroma and taste.
    • Agave – grown in the lowland region – have more herbaceous fragrance and flavor.
    • Mexican law states that tequila can be produced only in the state of Jaliscoand limited regions in the states of Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit andTamaulipas.
    • Mexico is granted international right to the word “tequila”.
    • Bulk amounts can be shipped to be bottled in the United States.
    • Tequila is normally made at 38-40 % alcohol content but can be produced between 31-55 % alcohol content.
    • Don Cenobio Sauza, founder of Sauza Tequila and Municipal President of the Village of Tequila from 1884-1885, was the first to export tequila to the United States.
    • The Consejo Regulador del Tequila (Tequila Regulatory Council) in 2008, reported 901 registered brands of tequila from 128 different producers.

    Good Morning.

@Heidi~I'm sorry the ENT wasn't able to provide a diagnosis and/or relief. I hope you can get some answers soon and are able to enjoy your vacation. :flowerforyou:

@Laurie~Wow, fantastic job on the butterfly (that was alway the toughest stroke for me).

@Holly~Oy, we've all been there. Try not to dwell on the past, today is a new day so start fresh today. You've made a great habit of walking, now try to make something else a habit--you'll get there, baby steps.

@Tom~Ah, tequila! I hear a margarita calling my name--I wonder if it would be frowned upon to celebrate at lunch?!

@Robin~Oh, how I need a catch up day. Through this injury my house has gone to hell in a hand basket, I can't stand clutter so its driving me crazy!

AFM~Back from the doc and jumping for joy--I am out of the splint and can start lifting weights again. Hooray!!! I just have to be careful to not do anything that could jam my thumb. He also gave me some exercises to do so range of motion returns, he said it will take 12 more weeks before I have full range of motion back  Geez!

I had my NT scan last night (Nuchal translucency screening - they measure the baby's neck and look for a nose bone to rule out chances of having a baby with Downs). According to the tech the baby is developing normally! We we also able to hear the baby's heartbeat for the very first time. We also were printed more baby pictures. (I will spare you of those until they get really good!) This time the baby looked more like a baby and you could make out the shape of his/her head and face rather than it looking like some weird shaped wiggly worm. It was pretty exciting. After the appointment we stopped for Indian food at my favorite Indian restaurant which is conveniently right around the corner from my doctor's office. I was amazed with my self control I had with the appetizer and how little I ate. I have not been back to that restaurant since starting MFP. I used to bring home leftovers that were just enough for one meal. This time I have enough for 2-3 meals. Yummy!

As far as August goals, I like Skinny's suggestion about the nutrition challenge that we can adjust to meet out specific needs.(Especially since I cannot partake in eating under) This month I also want to focus on my own goal. Now that I am approaching 2nd trimester and starting to regain some energy my goal is going to be get in at least some from of exercise twice a week. Of course if I have the energy I will try to do more. I will play it by ear throughout the month.

    Welcome newbies!

Robin - I am off today and brought my car in for an inspection and oil change. On the way home I stopped at my parents house to give my dad a picture of the baby. (I emailed him them last night but knows he has problems getting to the computer) Anyhow when I got home I decided to lounge on the couch and watch the food network. I am so very easily influenced. Now I want broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl. LOL These cravings are so intense it is so crazy.

Toots - Thank you. Any idea when you will be flying to get the children? I am really excited for you. I checked out your blog. I loved it!

RobinB - So glad you had a great time on your vacation. I am sure those pesky vacation pounds will come off soon!

Kah - Glad your hand is getting better. I hope your appointment goes well today!

Skinny - Oops. My mistake. I looked at that car too. It is really nice. Looks like something I would drive!

Aimeemarie - Sorry to hear you have been struggling. You are still and inspiration to me. So don't you give up. Be proud in your accomplishments. You have a lot to be proud of!

    MNwalking, ebailey - thanks!

Kaye - so sorry to hear about the washer and other expenses. That really stinks.

ebailey - Sorry to hear about the promotion. I hope it works out in your favor.

Laurie - Congrats on the butterfly! That is a great NSV. Hope the issue with your car works out and isn't too costly.

I experienced a downside of weight loss today. I went to Macy's to buy new bras. I tried one on in what I thought was my size. When the bra fitting lady came in to check on me, she sadly shook her head and said "Honey, you're definitely not a C cup". I'm now the unhappy owner of bras in 36B. Of course, I still have plenty of padding around my middle.... just where I don't want it. So unfair.

    Good afternoon everyone.

Kah congrats on the good news from the dr.
Nettie I am so happy for you and brian. Good to hear your little one is coming along well.

I got some cleaning out done around the house today. Cleaned out a couple of closets and all three of my freezers. My daughter has to work late today so I went and did my grocery shopping. BAd plan but hey at least I have some food now. It was kinda funny at the checkout stand though. I havent been cooking for the last couple of the weeks so my kids have cleaned out all of the quick and easy type foods. I felt like the biggest fatty with the chicken nuggets, spaghettios, chili, and what not that was filling my cart. I got my healthier stuff and the staples as well but couldnt shake the little bit of self conscious shame on all the junk:grumble: Once I came home I cleaned out the fridge and used all the taco leftovers from a couple of nights ago to make a nice salad for lunch:happy: Well I think I have definitley earned some play time so off to the land of video games. Have a great night everyone.:heart: :drinker: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

This day has been dragging. Three days off in a row from work certainly spoiled me. I am a sales manager at a large furniture store. The good news is that the store is a perfect place to get a good walk in. I brought my black walking shoes to work and this evening I put them on and had a good walk around the store for about 20 minutes. I can't sync my Fitbit until I get home and I'm hoping it will at least tell me I can have a Weight Watchers ice-cream bar.

@Lives2Travel, why are the girls always the first to benefit from weight loss???? I want a flat tummy and big boobies...not the other way around!

@Jnettie, glad to hear that all went well with the NT scan. Today, I heard that my adorable 8th month old step-granddaughter has learned to hold her breath until she turns blue. Her parents are NOT amused.

@mnwalkingquee, I also have been struggling with what I eat. My food diary is a hot mess, but I keep it open and I keep recording. We will get a handle on this thing and make it work for us. :flowerforyou:

My Thursday truth is that I HAVE to learn to stop being so annoyed by this person I work with. He is so toxic for my mood and yet I'm stuck with him. I have prayed for grace. I have also prayed for lightening bolts to bash him upside the head, which probably isn't very nice of me. :ohwell:

today was an absolute crap day/tired of dealing with everything all by myself. makes me depressed so I didn't even feel like eating today. I had cookies for lunch and cake for supper. no nutrition anywhere just empty calories. I am going to wallow in self pity some more and I will do better tomorrow.

No major truths to report today except that I have been eating cookies every day this week. That is the problem with attending a class where they provide lunch. The cookies have been really good and the lunch was so-so.

Tonight I worked at with my trainer at her gym so that was a different experience. I learned that I don't like the leg press there- especially if it doesn't get locked and you go all the way down. No fun getting off of it. I did like the swim trainer and the side sit up machine. Used a machine called Jacob's ladder- think of a ladder that moves the faster you climb the faster it goes. It was a good workout especially coming off of a lack of sleep last night.

April- Everyday is a new beginning. Shake off today and move forward by making the great choices on your food.

Lives2travel- LOL about the bra issue- I experienced that a couple of years ago. The funny thing for me is that I am in between a B and C cup. I just wish the mid section of my body would disappear as quickly as the upper part of the torso did.

    Newbie here. Hello!
So today is truth day correct? Well the truth for me is I haven't been great this week but I'm still doing much better than before so that's a plus! I do really good until dinner :( Gotta work on that with the cook (hubby!) A little about me since I'm new..lost 40# about a year ago then was life happened (my dad got sick and passed away) and I gained 15-20 back. I think I'm doing good getting back on track but it's slow going, I could def do better but still sorta proud at same time that I'm still hanging in there...
This looks like a great community so I'm looking forward to it, hope I can keep up with all the different post!

Kaye - you can definitely nail those 7 pesky pounds before June - do you have a goal in mind? Your big tree tale wows me!

WalkingQueen - I will also by a medium pizza for myself - only I have learned to put a few pieces in the freezer right away cuz I'll eat it all day too as its soo darn good! Feeling shame is so hard on a person we must both learn to stifle that emotion cuz its so negative and defeatist - we must look only at our good things and praise ourselves for them over and over until we get it into our heads we are good!

Kah - SO happy for you! Way happy!

Jeanette - I've never had a baby so I'm following this with interest and learning at the same time- so MUCH FUN and excitement!!

LivesTT - same bra problem with me - what IS it with our mid-section - I noticed it on all the women at my 45th reunion - we all were egg-shaped - - even the former cheerleaders!

jtconst - you sure did a lot of housework - you definitely earned your video time. Wow an injury does NOT slow you down!

Teresa - what you said about that annoying person where you work at the furniture store - I cracked up! Such a chuckle you gave me! I pray for patience - now I will follow up with lightning bolts!

AprilShowers - when a person feels depressed they are at their low point and need relief from their pressures - glad you recognized that in yourself. Good for you! Try for a brief spurt of exercise in your depression - its awfully hard to do I understand cuz I have fought it myself. Send me a message if you want. I might be off-line over the weekend but otherwise I am here.

    Renee - Welcome!

AFM - might be off-line over the weekend from Fri nite to sunday afternoon - hoping to see a movie not sure what one yet. Hate to miss so many posts! Busy day and past week. Had another Drs. appointment. Have been averaging 8 appointments a month for the past 9 months and I am sick of them - have decided to block off time FROM them for the end of August - its getting ridiculous!!! My friends want me to see MORE specialists - I'm saying not now folks, maybe in six months when I'm TANNED, RESTED, and READY!! :flowerforyou:

Mileage for 7/24: 4.7 (2 for water aerobics, 2.7 walking).
The tree is down. They are still hauling off wood. The stump at the widest part is 7 feet. They will be back tomorrow to finish grinding out the stump.
Thursday truth: I struggled again today with logging. I have eaten carefully, but the pot luck just stymies me. I really am looking forward to the August challenge to get me back on track. As far as a goal to lose these last few pounds, I'm thinking that things will settle back to normal when school starts. If I buckle down, I think I can lose it before the holidays start.
Welcome to the newbies. You'll love it here.
Kah, glad your hand is healing.
Jt, you are certainly getting around on that bad ankle. Be careful.
Heidi, sorry you aren't getting better answers for your pain.

@kaye--wow, that is one enormous tree! Glad they got it down without incident. As much as I don't look forward to the school-year starting, I do much better with food when I'm back to work. A lot less socializing which tends to = eating and drinking too many calories.

@robin--I don't envy your dr. appointments! I have a few of my yearly ones coming up--mammo next week then gyne the following--and I still need to shcedule my yearly physical with my primary doc. Your 8 per month has made me realize I have no reason to complain--if I start getting cranky thoughts about it, my inner voice will now counter "suck it up, Buttercup!" and I will just be thankful I am healthy.

@renee--welcome! :flowerforyou: So sorry for your loss of your dad. I have a few friends who've really struggled with weight gain when dealing with such a profound loss, so I think only gaining 15-20 is superb.

@laurie--I've seen that Jacob's ladder on BL and it looks like pure evil.

@april--sorry you are feeling down, but you are right--tomorrow is a new day.

@teresa--it stinks to have to work with people whose company you don't enjoy. I am fortunate to have really great colleagues--it's the main reason I've stayed in my district. I don't always love the administrators, but learned quickly that department chairs, asst. principals, and principals come and go so there's no point in changing jobs due to a bad one--especially since I don't deal with them day in and day out like I do the other teachers. Is there any way you can distance yourself from the guy who annoys you? As sales manager do you have any control over the scheduling? Your comment about the lightning bolt also made me chuckle.

@tammy--wow--3 freezers! I oanly have one and can't bring myself to clean it out. :blushing:

@L2T--Sorry you lost a cup size. I also went down, but I knew the D-cup was only the result of weight and was happy to get back down into a C. In fact, I didn't lose much in my chest until the last 10-15 lbs came off, and it made me nervous b/c when I was younger and lost weight the twins were always the first to go. I also went and got fitted last week for a few a new strapless bra and the salewoman confirmed I am a 36C now vs. the 38D I took on vacation--needless to say the "girls" were swimming in that thing,

@nettie--a lot of people confuse the 2 cars b/c they are pretty similar looking. Glad to hear your doc appt. went well--have you and brian decided if you will find out the baby's gender when that info is available?

@kelley--awesome news about your thumb!! :drinker:

@tom--I skipped the tequila and celebrated with vodka instead. Loved today's quote--so true and a great remider for us all.

@holly--Don't beat yourself up about the pizza. A typical medium pizza contains about 2,000 calories. It takes 3,500 calories OVER your maintenance to put on 1 lb of body weight. So in reality, you probably didn't do that much damage in terms of true weight gain. All of the sodium in an entire pizza could have made your body retain a lot of water, and that definately would affect your weight. Regardless of if it's water weight or "weight" weight showing up on your scale, don't let it make you feel ashamed. You've recognized you made a bad choice last Saturday, but I bet you made more good choices (in both food and exercise) over the past week. That is what you should focus on, and be proud of that fact. :flowerforyou:

    Thursday Truth:
I had a terrible food day today. I spent the morning cleaning and had a decent breakfast. Then, I went out with friends for luch, and also made pretty decent food choices there (fish tacos--and I chose the corn tortillas over flour and grilled fish vs. fried) though I did have french fries as my side. Not so bad; however, I proceeded to have 3 higher calorie cocktails vs. my standard rum and diet cokes. Then, my friends wanted to walk over to the bakery down the street from the restaurant to "just look." I ended up caving to the peer pressure of everyone else buying some little treats--I bought a rumball and a turtle brownie. When I got home I ate half of each. After loggin and seeing the damage from my day, I decided to go whole hog and finish both treats. :blushing:

It doesn't bother me that I indulged a bit, but the mindset that once I went over my calories I should just finish the treats is what I don't like. I could have easily left those treats for tomorrow--I'm going to the gym and would have plenty of calories to make them fit my day. However, I just wanted to "get rid of them" so they wouldn't be around to damage another day, so I ate them. How messed up is that? :blushing:

I ended up over by more than 600 calories which means I was also over maintenance. I'm going to try to be under by at least that much tomorrow to make up for it.

    Goals:
    1. wash/dry clean all drapes in house
    2. shred old files
    3. clean out spare bedroom

Tues--walk gunner DONE + gym DONE

I am beginning a challenge to lose at least 100lbs by next year..I have been overweight since HS. I am now 33yrs old. I am literally tired of being over weight. I am 313lbs and have never been more serious about losing weight in my life. I have enough problems in my life and my weight is something that I realize I can change. So now I am ready to take on the challenge to lose 10 lbs and another and another. Anyone who is interested please friend me for motivation and much needed support. I will motivate you the same. I am serious about this change and finally the active girl inside smothered by this fat is making a breakthrough. Thanks in advance for your support.

Welcome Arsherma, the best support you will find is in this group. Come here often and participate as often as you can. Most of us here don't do much with the "friend" lists. We give out support to the group as a group. Good luck to you. If you will be consistent, you can do this. Read Robin's advice on the first page about deciding from the beginning what you will and won't do. This is a lifestyle change so it has to fit you for the rest of your life.
    Onward and downward. Kaye

@kah - Great news on your thumb. Be careful and take it easy!

@jnettie - Glad to hear the bun in the oven is developing normally. It's going to be exciting to go through a pregnancy with you. It's been a long, long, long time for me.

@teresa - It's hard to be around toxic people especially at work where it's impossible to just cut them out of your life. And I think praying for lightening bolts isn't mean, it's creative.

@laurie - I was prepared for my cup size to revert to the C cup I always wore before I gained all the weight. But a B diagnosis stunned me. I guess the combination of age, gravity, child bearing and weight loss takes its toll.

@robinsegg - LOL at the egg shaped comment! Why is it the padding around our midsections is the last to go? I just hope it eventually does go. I will not be in the least upset if sometime in the future a sales lady has to shake her head at me and say I'm definitely not a size 10 and hands me an size 8.

@skinnyjeanz - I too suffer from "I already screwed up, so might as well go whole hog" syndrome. I fight that all the time and have started to employ the garbage disposal remedy. I hate wasting food, but I hate gaining weight more.

@arsherma - Welcome! I've been where you are. In fact, I spent a couple decades in that place. You can do this and you're wise to do it in your 30s instead of waiting until you're older when it gets even harder to shed the pounds.

AFM - Glad it's finally Friday, but I'm dreading next week. I have to go to the home office for a week of training. I don't mind learning something new, but did I mention that the home office is in the middle of nowhere? By nowhere I mean no Starbucks or shopping or decent restaurants unless you drive an hour away. My dinner choices will be limited to McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, greasy spoon diners or whatever I can forage for at Walmart. I'm going to take protein bars for breakfast, will be able to get a salad at the company cafeteria for lunch, but dinner will be a challenge. And to top it off, I get to stay at the Super 8 Motel where I'll have to use the treadmill to walk since it's on a highway with no sidewalks.

When I chose my user name, this is not the type of travel to which I was referring.

friday!!!exercise hmm? well, i will continue to walk each evening and continue to do my yoga each evening. i am ,however, on the fence about weighing. i do not do well with the scales. if it has not moved i chuck it all, so how to get around that mindset. on the
other hand it would make me acknowledge the fact that i need to readjust my diet. i found out in dec that my thyroid was not working correctly/ meds are in progress and have been adjusted. so i am hoping that i can lose. i am walking each evening for an hour and logging my food . so i am going to suck it up and weigh in the morning. hoping to see at least a lb gone.

@Nettie~Excellent news on the NT and that your little “peanut” is growing nicely (I always thought in the early stages they look like a peanut). I know you and Brian are really excited!

@L2T~LOL, I’ve suffered from that same downfall—the one part of my body I’m actually happy with!

@Tammy~Sounds like you’re getting around better, but be careful. I’m really surprised your doc didn’t put you in a boot for 4 weeks and then re-evaluate—I can’t remember, have you seen an ortho?

@Teresa~I’m sorry you have to deal with a toxic co-worker like that, co-workers can certainly make or break a work environment.

@Laurie~I’ve seen the Jacob’s Ladder, but have never used one—they do look evil, but I’ve told my trainer he should invest in one!

@Kaye~That is one huge tree, no wonder it was so expensive and an ordeal to remove—your yard must seem empty now.

@Karen~I’m guilty of doing the same thing with treats like that. I just figure the damage is done already, may as well go in whole hogged and start fresh the next day. :embarassed: Oy!

@April~It actually takes a while to find the right dosage of thyroid meds, I think it took six months and trying a couple of different medications before mine finally leveled off. Also, I found that I needed to adjust my diet and avoid foods that can affect the absorption of my thyroid medication—but I’m proof that weight loss is possible after diagnosis. Hang in there.

AFM~Scale showed a 4# loss this week, I must be doing something right! Had a session with my trainer last night, it felt good to be able to do some upper body stuff again—we didn’t go wild since I still don’t have the range of motion to grasp dumbbells, baby steps. No activity planned today (except miles walked at work)—HH tonight with a friend from work. Saturday is typically my planned rest day—so hair appointment for color only (trying to let my hair grow out), then running around to do, I also hope to start tackling stuff around the house that has been on backburner last couple of months.

To all: A Personal Request - Please Consider This and make your own decision:

Been thinking about this for a while. It might help new members follow the thread. For me, it would be a big help. When you respond to people with personals would it be possible to use their screen names first, then their personal names if you know them.

Frankly, I used to keep track of personal names but I lost that document when my old computer died earlier this year. Now, when I read other's comments and they start with a personal name I get confused - who is this person? I do have a "brain fog" issue so its my problem,. :noway: Thanks for your consideration :flowerforyou:

raaki4u - welcome! What is the occasion, when is it, and how many pounds do you want to lose by then? Then we can answer your question a lot better..... simply put most of us average about 1-3 lbs a week for a good week.

arsherma - welcome to you as well - I see you've broken down your total loss goal into 10 lb. increments - very good planning!
What kind of activites do you enjoy?

Good morning everyone. I am off and going today. I went with my mom and got a used boot for my foot from st vincents and it definitley helps with the ankle but was making my knee and hip a little sore so I think I will just use it when I have to go out and do stuff. After that it was a costco run. I felt so much better about my cart this tie full of fresh produce, meats, and healthy snacks:happy: I am now munching on the melon left over from last night dinner and gearing up to put everthing away. I have a vacumn sealer for food so I am going to portion it all down and pre marinade a bunch of stuff before I freeze it. Then to get the veggies prepped for grab and eat so the kids will actually grab them once in a while instead of just junk. After all thats done I am going to go through my bookcases and do some desperatley needed clean out. I have two that are completley crammed. Time to donate some to goodwill:laugh:

Friday fitness I got some lighter weight dumbbells and am ready to start a routine I worked out that I should be able to do without aggravating my ankle. I am going to do it every other day but not going to try figuring out calories burned since most of it will be strength oriented. I need to learn to eat in my limits again anyway. I am trying to get 7 days in a row under. 2 down and 5 to go. It sucks that it is warming up here today and a cold beer is sounding kinda nice. I guess we will have to see where I am at this afternoon:laugh:

Robin I totally understand what you mean about having trouble remembering the names. After over a year woth this group and I only have a couple of them memorized.
Kah I am not seeing a specialist it is just my gp. Not insured right now so trying to watch costs on this so I just want out on my own and got an ankle boot. Figure it cant hurt and might help.
kaye I know what you mean about potlucks. Almost impossible to track with those.

Well have a great day everyone. I must go and get the groceries put away.:flowerforyou:   :drinker: :drinker:
