Does quality of food matter if you remain within calories?

haha, still the personal attack when you can't even respond with anything approaching intelligence, so focused on my grammar. your a big girl I'm sure you can figure out what I'm saying, even if I scrambled each words letters your brain could understand and make sense of it. but no, you may not have become fat by eating less initially, most likely it was from sugar and soda and processed food consumption, then you went on a diet, lost weight, lowered metabolism and then gained it all back then dieted again, its a result of chronic diet cycling and the rebound fat gain from lowering you metabolism. if you eat 1200 calories a day for the rest of your life, I guarantee that you would slowly lose muscle (LBM) and gain Adipose tissue even with no change in weight, you will keep a set point weight but your composition WILL change. you keep focusing on telling me I'm wrong instead of actually looking into it. hell try reading the books I mentioned, "The Calorie Myth", "The Fat Switch" etc, you say that "Starving isn't the answer" but you think that mild starving is ok, you make no sense. even the World Health Organization says that 1800 cal/day for women and 2200 cal/day for men are semi deprivation/mild starvation diets. thats the least even a 75 year old healthy woman should be eating, 1800 cal/day. anyway, I figured you would be closed minded based on your college "biology major", you are just like a Doctor who thinks they already know all and could NEVER be wrong, haha, I've met plenty like you , doctors SO smart they count unlock their office door, lol

I mean really if its SO easy as exercise more eat less, wouldn't we have solved this obesity epidemic ? try thinking for yourself instead of following the blind who are leading you on this calorie counting dead end.0

ok, I dare you to experiment, if you eat "real food", and balanced meals, eat only enough grams of carbs a day to replenish glycogen lost, INCREASE everything else besides carbs, eat as much as u can, do HIIT cardio and lift and I promise the more food you eat the leaner you will get. will you take this challenge ? prob not, fear will likely stop you from trusting me.
I have a BMR of 1707 (determined through an oxygen consumption test) so no, of course I'm not going to take on your "challenge" and eat 2500+ calories because I know damn well I will gain weight- whether I eat whole foods or junk food.
By the way, I already eat strictly whole foods (Mediterranean diet, low carb, moderate protein, moderate fat) due to insulin resistance and hypoglycemia.
In other words, your theory has been debunked.0 -

Well, today there was a social outing kind of thing and I unfortunately ate cookies, sweetened cinnamon bread, few chips, and a big bite of chocolate bundt cake. I also had a lot of (whole grain) ricecakes and some peanut butter today. Hate to say it but that is probably 700+ calories (a cookie is a killer in itself!)
However, I find that if I monitor well today, I can probably be within calorie limits.
Will eating "junk food" hinder my progress as long as I don't overeat my calories?
However, it has been my experience when I eat a bunch of junk on any day I tend to feel more run down, especially if it's lots of sugary stuff, which can affect the intensity of my workouts.0 -

haha, nice attempt at a personal attack (once again), I'm 36, and Ive studied the human body prob as long as you have been alive, at least 20 years, I was a Combat Medic in the Army and have had PLENTY of training and experience gained in REAL WORKING CONDITIONS, with great Doctors, not a little "College" frat house. ever wonder, maybe I'm NOT a "heretic" and possibly understand the body a little better than you ?, oh god forbid ANYONE knows the body better than you !! lol. man, never have I met so many close minded people in one place, refusing to even attempt to wonder if what they think they know may be wrong, I'm sorry but if you aren't questioning EVERYTHING you learn from ANYONE then you are never going to know that you didn't know.0 -
Why is it someone asks a question and someone else bored, decides to go off on a tangent in the thread, as if it is generally going to help? I almost stop reading threads and just try to answer the first question.
Fewer calories in than out generally means a loss, but we are talking about our bodies which are smarter than we like to think, and cheap calories have an effect, whether that be with less energy, fewer calories burning, etc.... Hence once or twice cheap calories might not hurt, normally as rewards, but regularly, at least for most people, and you may be questioning why you are not getting the results you expect. There is a reason that this App does more than just count calories, and there is a reason most pro athletes pay attention to what they eat, not just working out.0 -

You do realize that your BMR is not your TDEE?
Also, please could you show where eating at a deficit causes a permanent drop in your BMR outside what it would due to weight lose. Also, please show me how you will lose weight if not at a deficit?
