Thanks for sharing, I've been looking at this way of exercising for a while now and have recently read Pushing the Limits which I'm going to start soon.0

For me, it’s the fact that having this kind of unlimited, self-made strength is so… SO… empowering. It gives you a kind of cool confidence that is hard to explain.
i know exactly what you mean, i feel the same way about it!it has something so raw and primal about it
ive recently discovered a great bodyweight routine and im so in love with its simplicity, yet intensity. i could feel the difference after the first time ive tried it, i thought "wow, this is it! i feel like a ninja warrior, like im all muscle!" (couldnt move for 2 days afterwards haha).
edit: oh, and you look fantastic! great inspirationdat butt!

Your results are amazing!! I've never really looked into calisthenics before but seeing your results I am definitely interested in it. Guess I have some reading to do on it.0

I just recently got into calisthenics thanks to a video of frank madrano. That guy is insane. Besides, I want to be able master my own body.0

i want to be able to do those things too!0 -
I think the problem is that I would become "that guy" and start doing muscle ups everywhere.0

I printed this out. I'm reading more and more posts on mfp about bodyweight lifting. I don't have access to weights, but I'm sure lifting my own self is a workout :laugh:0
-
nothing wrong with that, im sure your audience would enjoy it :laugh:0

I bought "Convict Conditioning" because of this post. I never really enjoyed weight training but forced myself to do it because it's "good" for me. I'm hoping I will like this much better.
This is week 2 for me and so far, so good.
I am curious, OP, can you give us some details around your own progression? I am a woman and although I'm in decent shape, I cannot do a single pull-up; can't even hold myself up in that position on the bar for a full second. How long did it take you do to progress to doing a full pull-up? Did you just follow the CC progression in the beginning?
I'm trying to be patient but I'd love to know when I'll start seeing progress.0 -
Bump for resources.
Nice job, OP. This is informative and inspirational.0 -
I started the Convict Conditioning progressions 3 weeks ago - step 1 of the 4 starter moves. At first they seemed too easy but when I got back to focussing on form, timing and breathing correctly I could feel that my body is working. It's not difficult yet but I know I am conditioning my joints and I'm already slightly stronger. It feels great getting my body to work in a way that makes sense to me. Thanks again to the OP.
ETA: I'm 58 and NOT in decent shape. I've lost muscle due to menopause and inactivity (back injury). My physio, with whom I do pilates, thinks the book is great and has given me a pilates program that complements the exercises I'm doing.0 -
The proof is in the pudding ! Great job my friend ! Rock that body and be proud .0

Amazing results! I vote for calisthenics/bodyweight training
I prefer it over weight lifting, and your experience has just confirmed I'm on the right path!
Thank you for sharing your story, very inspirational!0
