    Oh, I don't know about all that. I don't think she needs to go to the doctor if she has no other symptoms. I mean to say, I don't think I would go to the doctor just because of some mysterious sheen floating on my urine. Especially wit no other symptoms.

    BUT.... If she wants to know what mysterious sheen is, she'll need to have her doctor order some tests.

    Also, why on earth were you doing a test for ketones when you're not trying to eat low carb? Did they have a special on random irrelevant tests at the local drugstore? If so, what other tests did you pick up?

    I'm curious too... makes me feel like randomly taking a pregnancy test just for funsies.

    If it comes back positive, post the results in an MFP thread...

    ...and get pissed when anyone mentions that you should see a doctor.

    Right. I handle urine on an almost daily basis as part of my job and I will tell you that no matter how high the ketones in a patient's urine, they're never visible in macro. We can sometimes see macroscopic amounts of blood, and sometimes we can diagnose a UTI or a diabetic by smell alone (we still always run the test) but ketones are always an unknown until the test is done.

    By refusing to see a doctor you're potentially jeopardizing your health, and honestly, it's not worth that just to "prove" to some strangers on the internet that you know more than they do.

    Ok OP there's an answer from someone who HANDLES URINE ALL DAY!
    Surely you will take their advice?
