New to this so let me just say I will start with 150, does that seem to high for a beginner? Also seeing as how this is measured in steps do I need a step counter?

This is MILEAGE. You can use walking distance, running distance, bike, treadmill, elliptical, swimming etc;. As for 150 miles in a month for a beginner, I'd say that is high! You have to remember counting today there is only 27 days in the month! So that is averaging 5.56 miles EVERY day!! Just commit to 60 miles and if you go over that is great!! Ran 3 miles in 27 minutes on the TM then I did my CLX PUSH Circuit 2 workout!!0

There are 27 participants in the FMYAC, committed to move 2,165 miles.
We're only 2 days in February and despite the obnoxious weather we clocked 121.2 miles already.
This should change radically once the heavyweights start moving

here is what i did....
First i used www.mvm.com to make the models at 10lb intervals from my high at 254.8 down to my goal weight of 145 and then saved each picture to my computer. Then I opened a word doc and placed the pics in order from big to small. I ended up taking out a few pics to make my 1/2 point right at my approximate 1/2 way point.
Then I saved it as a PDF and the exported to a jpg. Lastly I uploaded it to the MFP website.

2 mile walk outside at lunch (brrrrrr!) + 4 miles on the treadmill after work = 6 miles for me today.0

4 mile walk today....I forgot my ticker for half of my routines today so I didn't record them.
90.62 miles left0 -
After FIRE 45 I ran on the treadmill 1.17 miles, did some ab work, and then caught some more walking while waiting for Dr.'s appointment, so I will just say 1.20 miles to be on the safe side!0
