Good morning everyone! So glad to have my elliptical now! Did 20 min this morning and feel great! It's Monday so its back to the grind, lol!

Had an awesome weekend, this week will be busy, but have some fun stuff planned so that is good.

Had kefir for breakfast, going to have yummy chicken soup for lunch and who knows what hubby will whip up for dinner!

    Have an awesome day ya'll!
  • Good Morning everyone!! I am back after being very naughty for about 5 days and the scales have shown it too. I have gained 4 pounds. So not beating myself up over it though. I had such a great time. I got my treadmill and my new exercise bike on Friday night and got it put together on Saturday, I haven't used it yet though. My hubby, the kids, my mom and dad, and I decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Helen, Georgia and spent the night there. I ate awful while we were there but all we did was walk while we were there. I am back to it today and I will be good. No more days of not logging my food. I will log it and I will be good!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that I can do it and I will do it.

Good Job everyone!! It looks and sounds like you all have done a wonderful job while I have been being very naughty. Welcome meadair!!!!!!!!!! This group is great.

Off to try out my treadmill and maybe my bike. I will be back later.
  • Welcome Maeadair! I'm new to this group too. Your work schedule sounds brutal. Sorry you are having trouble logging too. You might email Mike (the guy who created this site) or check the tech support board and see if they can change that, that doesn't sound right. Also if you have a smart phone, they have apps for Android and Blueberries, probably others too!

Arf, congrats on the elliptical purchase, I try to use the one at the gym at work occasionally and it's very challenging. (I'm just a work out at home type person, so it's usually DVDs for me, or dumbbells)

R2Lose - How nice to have a little vacation with your family!! Glad you had fun and glad you have your treadmill and bike now, that'll be great!!

Buterphly - great way to start your day!! Good for you!!

Last night's dinner was awesome, we splurged on fresh halibut steaks from the fish market in phoenix (we live in AZ dessert, so yes, that's a splurge, I won't telll you how much they charge, but it's really fresh flown down from the pacific northwest, so that was our Valentine's treat!! LOL!) Hubby topped it with a sauce made from grape tomatoes from our garden and capers (and yes, butter! Ugh!! but the rest was very healthy) had a nice salad with cherry tomatoes from the garden, beets and peas and onions. Had a very small glass of dealcoholized wine and a thin slice of bakery bread with garlic. (I think I let you all know, I'm alcohol free since Jan. 3rd, with a goal of 90 days, and then a "we'll see about moderation" attitude).

After my double-up on 30 day shred Friday and my 4+ mile walk Saturday, I appreciated my rest day yesterday, but had trouble getting it in gear for my workout this morning. Ended up turning off the DVD and lifting weights instead. Will also get some walking in today as it's supposed to be 80 here today!! Working monday through friday this week (four 9s and an 8).

Dinners this week are... turkey speghetti, turkey sausage pizza, ham steak and black eyed peas, have two breakfasts of greek yogurt and berries, lunches this week will be based around black beans (made a big pot this weekend, think it will turn into soup tonight) maybe just a salad today.

Goals this week are the same as last week I guess... stay under calories and workout everyday. Since I was not that great this morning I think I will try for an hour a day the rest of the week!

Have a great day, and great week! And Happy Valentine's Day!

(and if you are a friend on my page you already saw my rant about chocolate ON MY DESK this morning... didin't eat it, over it ((well almost)) now. Continued vigilance needed to avoid the daily barrage of bad food at my workplace!!)
  • P.S. This morning I had oatmeal with almonds and 1/2 banana. Oh, and I did manage a couple squares of frosted mini wheat and an egg white before 7! Getting better at eating in the morning. And I just took a 15 minute break from worked and walked as fast as I could. Beautiful out there!!

I'm just loving my elliptical! I struggle with back pain and exercising is very frustrating because I have very limited time to exercise before my back gives out on me. I can handle 20 min on the elliptical without completely dying and so having it in the house means i can exercise twice a day for 20 min. I gave up the couch to 5k for now...because running just kills my back. For some reason I last longer on the elliptical. So my goals for this week are: twice a day for 20 min on the elliptical, bootcamp 3x per week, stay under calories and sodium! The sodium part is harder than the calories! It's just hidden in every darn thing!
My goal is to be at 30 pounds lost by the end of Feb. I know I can do it!
  • Hey HEETers,

Welcome Meadair (did I spell that right?). I feel kind of funny welcoming you to a group I started but haven't been a part of for a couple of weeks. High Five to the girls who are still here and keeping the thread alive and making AWESOME progress!! Now to complete my humiliation....

HEETers, I'm in a really weird place that I'm not sure you will understand. I've only briefly mentioned that I'm a follower of politics and news because it doesn't belong here but it's more than a passing fancy for me. It's part of my life and what I do. It all ties in with my lifestyle, who I am and why I do what I do. Times are changing. Food Inflation is about to run rampant. Google increases/inflation on Kraft Foods, Sara Lee, Proctor and Gamble (Diapers, Toothpaste, Shampoo), and commodities such as Wheat, Corn, Cotton. At this point in time, I can no longer, in good conscious, purchase the high-end, low-cal, low-fat, pricey foods I want to assist with my weight loss. As much as I follow the trends and events, I thought I had a little more time to do what I had to do and inspire others along the way. But it's time for us (DH and myself) to buckle down even further. In this past week, a wholesale flat of Tomatoes has gone from $7 to over $20. Cucumbers, Squash, Asparagus, Lettuce everything, is about to explode due to the freezes in Florida in December and the recent freeze in Mexico a week or so ago. Farmers are reporting 100% Crop Failures. These produce hikes will be temporary, until Mid-March or April when the new crops start producing but who can afford to eat produce in the meantime? The Commodity prices are here to stay for a long while. Everything that is affected by Wheat and Corn (Bread, Crackers, Cereal, Soda - anything with Corn Syrup - the list is endless) will be elevated and stay that way for a long period of time. Maybe indefinitely. As well as anything made of Cotton due to rising demands in the East (Google Lee Jeans, Walmart and JC Penney Increases.) If Skinny Jeans are on your list you might want to buy them now. You could be paying almost double next week. This is why we started our Food Storage plan a couple years ago and started our Garden last year. We have enough Food Storage to last us two years and a recurring food source with the garden to supplement even beyond that as long as it produces and we have minimal crop failures.

So, now that I've made myself out to be a freak, because I know my thoughts and lifestyle are not Main-Stream and I can't distance myself from my beliefs, I'll bow out from the group. I'm going to have to find alternative ways to meet my goals, a combination of eating things from our storage and more exercise. It can be done, but not in the way I had envisioned when I re-started this group and is going to take a little more work and planning on my part. Something I need to learn and grow in to. I'll leave my account active until the end of the month in case anyone has any questions about anything I've said or for anyone who is interested in starting their own Food Storage program. Please send your questions via PM. Other than that...

I wish you ALL every success in the world. Weightloss or otherwise. I've enjoyed meeting and interacting with each and every one of you.

    Go HEETers!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • Good Morning everyone!! I did really good yesterday and I know today will be just as great. I LOVE, LOVE my new treadmill and bike. I am getting ready to go and get started with my exercise in a little bit. I am making a recipe I found in a Betty Crocker cookbook today. It's called skillet Pork Stew. I just know it will be great.

VT- I understand that you have to do what you have to do. I will miss you and you and your DH will be in my thoughts and prayers.
  • arf, great job with the elliptical!! Hope your back pain gets better. Wondering if it's OK for you to be doing that in such pain, but I'm sure you know your body!!
VT - sorry to see you go! Will IM you.
R2L - You are doing great on your new equipment!! Way to go!! Saw you had your diary all set this morning!! Nice Job!!

    As for me...
I got up almost on time this morning
(hope you all had an awesome Valentine’s Day too, by the way! ;-)
Got my Burn Fat /Boost Metabolism work out done
Only had a tsp of peanut butter and water before my workout
(best I can do is a few bites that early, usually something from what I’m making for hubby’s lunch – not worrying about it since I’m getting much better at eating breakfast not too long after my workout)
Then I had yogurt/berries/nuts/honey for breakfast
    Have an apple for snack
    Black bean soup for lunch
And leftover corn beef with cabbage and potatoes for dinner.
Last night was Pizza!! Had ½ recipe of crust, turkey sausage, fat free natural cheese and veggies – getting pretty happy with my “diet” homemade pizzas. And it’s pretty easy to make “his half” with the real cheese and other than that we eat the same (well he ate 4 pieces, I had two and a salad!) I’ve seen a recipe on here a couple times for cauliflower crust, but for now I’m just sticking to a thin crust homemade “regular” crust (yes, it’s a foodtv recipe, from Mario Batali ((or is it Botali?))

ANYWAY, hope you all have a great healthy day!!! Keep up the great workouts and food diaries!! Butterphly and R2L thanks for the friend requests!!
  • i feel like i am doing great! don't really know if I am or not because I decided to only look at the scale 1 time a week. This will be hard, i like to see what is happening, but my clothes fit looser, and my weight is about the same so for now i will try to forget the scale! Did a lot of working out today! I am starving! BTW my diary is open, it probably won't help anyone, but hey it helps keep me honest. I don't like to fail...and I don't like for people to see me fall...so I will try not to. Everyone have a wonderful day!

    Wow this group had dwindled.!
I work over nights 3-4 nights/week and makes my posting times odd.
Bought a new walking tape>>> Leslie Sasone and think am really going to like it, also a new line dancing tape.
I needed these because is way to icy/cold/snowy to do much outside. BUT definitely have gotten a lot of exercise shoveling/snow blowing/roof raking/etc this winter .
    .
Sorry to see you go Veggie, was looking forward to getting to know you.... I will be starting indoor seedlings next week ( not really space inside for much) ...being in Maine I have such a short growing season...living in small residential area not much garden space. I do get extra tomatoes and make sauce (freeze), winter squash (peel/cut/freeze), onions and garlic that lasts almost all year, carrots and parsnip also...everything else does not keep well over winter (lettuce/cukes/ summer squash/etc.) and can't plant enough bean(green and wax) to keep up with self/family.

Off to do some meal planning and maybe make a quick pizza
  • So today I am going to try...I am going to try to get my water in, do my excercise, and be under calories. And I am going to try not to be discuraged that the scale won't drop bellow that stupid first 10lb. mark!

Breakfast: english muffin (wheat) with egg, and cheese
Lunch: I will have to see what we have
Dinner: lil smokies, mac and cheese.

I know dinner is not the healthiest, but I have to leave tonight to go to a class. This means dh gets to feed the kids...easy food:laugh:
  • Good Morning everyone!! I am up and ready to go this morning!! I am going to drink my water, do my exercise and stay below my calorie goal. I have got to break this cycle of eating bad that keeps following me. I need to get it toether. I know what to do and I know that I can do it. I will be good today and I will eat right.

phly- I am trying to stay away from that evil scale too. I am bloated b/c I am expecting my TOM any day now. It was susposed to come yesterday but did not show up. Your english muffin, egg and cheese sounds so good.
  • R2L thanks I got a griddle for christmas, so no butter needed, it lelps keep me under my goal:smile::smile: But it didn't start that way at first I was cooking the egg with butter(not the spray that tastes like it) and then buttering the muffin! One step at a time! Now I use no butter just the spray with no calories, throw it all together. Don't look at the scale til your "visitor" leaves!:explode: o it makes me so mad that we gain because of something we have no control over!:explode:

Good morning, finally staring back to exercising after this yucky cold! I just did an hur mild stretching to get back into the swing. It really felt good, even though I was cramping up!! lol

I used to cook everything in butter now I don't. I am getting used to things not cooked with butter. It all tastes really good. I have not gotten my TOM yet, susposed to come yesterday. I still have not seen it yet. Yeah, I hate it that it bloats me and I gain weight. It makes me so mad as well.
  • Good morning! Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, doing good. Super sore from yesterday, especially abs and sides, did 30 day shred level 3 again anyway, wondering which moves killed my sides so much... um, ALL of them, LOL! But those plank raises at the end are a killer! Think I'll do no more trouble zones tomorrow. Had pasta last night, can't giveit up completely. Hubby made an awesome sauce with lots of fresh veggies and ground turkey. Have bean soup for lunch on the stove now, need some breakfast, garden needs water and to get ready for work. Have a great healthy day everyone!
Tomorrow is my weigh in and, I too, try to stay off the scale between weekly weighins. Feel free to friend me if your haven't and my diary is public too. (Not that its perfect or very exciting).
  • Good Morning everyone!! I had such a busy day yesterday and messed up big time with my eating. Thank God today is a new day and tomorrow is gone. I have picked myself up this morning and I am going to do what I know to do. I need to get a handle on this thing. I know what to do, I need to do it. I will do it. I am sick of looking and feeling like this. Well, off to eat and then do my exercise. I will behave today and every day from here on out.
  • R2L great attitude!! You can do this!!
I am down 1.2 pounds this week.. I know I ate a little more and worked out a little less, but that's still acceptable. I did work out everyday, just a little shorter workouts. I will have my walk tomorrow and may not take my rest day on Sunday because I am having minor surgery on Monday and am told "no vigurous exericise for a week" (I will determine how vigorous I can handle I guess).
Last night I had ham and dutch potatoes with carrots and green beans. Today I had my greek yogurt mixed with berries and almonds. Will do something again with my black beans for lunch and hubby will stop at the store for Friday night dinner. Looking forward to doing some better shopping this weekend. This past week was a very low budget week, but we still did fairly well (over on the sodium a lot though).
I feel great today and it is my "short day" at work (8 hours instead of 9) so I came in at 8:00 and get an hour for lunch. All in all an aweseom Friday so far!!
Hope you all have a great day too!!!

    Good morning everyone.
I have been a lurker here for a bit. Don't know why.

I have had a good week. I'm going to buy some new running shoes today. I am stuck on week 6 of C25k. I will complete it this week.
My husband is going to start the c25k tomorrow. I can't wait to see how he does. He used to run in highschool. (we will see.)

I hope you all have a great day.

Welcome to the group Meadair.(think I am spelling it ok)
I am in NH. I noticed you are in ME. We're kind of neighbors.
  • Good morning everyone! Im waiting at the outpatient center for my surgery. Thought is check in. Hope you all had a great weekend. My Saturday walk ended up being in a light drizzle with wind, guess they can't all be sunny, huh? I did good though, 4 miles in 64 minutes. I did take my rest day yesterday although I worked around the house and in the yard and did some laundry, and I stayed under calories, even though I had breakfast for lunch! Just took a light walk this morning, since I'm not allowed to eat or drink I was worried to do my regular workout and then be too hungry. Hopefully I won't to too groggy from the anesthesia and pain meds to eat decent the rest of the day! Really hoping this is as routine as possible and I can get back to regular workouts quickly, and that it takes care of the issues I've been having (female stuff, mostly TMI to go into) anyway, I'll check in later. Have a happy healthy day!
  • Good Morning Everyone!! I am back. Boy was I sick over the weekend. I woke up Saturday morning with the worst sore throat that I have ever had in my life. My ears hurt, and so did my head. My temperature got up to 100.5. I thought I was getting the flu. I stayed in the bed all day Saturday. My mom took the kids for a little while and I was able to just lay in bed and sleep and rest. I wasn't able to eat b/c my throat hurt so bad, and it was a chore within itself just to drink, but I knew I had to drink if I did not want to end up in the hospital dehydrated. Sunday, my hubby was off so he took care of the kids, the house and me. I love my hubby, he is so good to me. I went to a place called Medi Urgent Care on Sunday at 1:00. The doctor there did a flu and strep test which both came back negative. He told me that I had a virus and I was sent home. I only ate one meal on Sunday. It was all I could get down with my throat being so sore. Yesterday I decided to get another opinion and went to my own doctor's office and was told that I have a virus and a sinus infection. I was given a prescription for an antibotic and told to go and get some muccinex. Once I started taking the anitbotic and the muccinex I felt a lot better by yesterday afternoon and was able to eat supper. This morning my throat is still mildly sore but I have been able to eat and drink so far. I took my antibotic and my muccinex. I will not be doing any exercise though till I know that I am completely over this. However, that is not an excuse for me to run wild and go over on my calories. I will eat great.
  • R2lose glad you are feeling better! I am recouping from surgery pretty well although I couldn't eat much at all yesterday, had toast and almond butter this morning, leftover halibt for lunch and hubby is making pork tenderloin for dinner. Doctor says no vigorous exercise so I am stressing about that a bit already. She was pretty vague about what exercise was ok. Well, too much pain for now anyway, so I'll try to rest! Back to work tomorrow, but just 2 days then Friday -Monday to rest more! Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks. I still have a long way to go to be back to 100% again. I still am not eating that much at all. I just don't feel hungry. that can't be good right? Congrats on completing week 6 of c25k!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Dlaplume, One and three quarter miles of running!! that is great!! And in great time too!! Congratulations!! Awesome to get new shoes and a food scale is a gem if you cook at home. I use mine several times a day now. Hubby even used to using it too!!

R2L, hang in there! Hope you feel 100% soon.

I am doing well. Back to work today, on 800 mg ibuprofen, done with the Percocet! Going to give it a week, then add in walking, another week I go for a post op check up, and then I’ll ask about adding in more. Going to have to be VERY careful to stay between 1200 and 1400 calories with no workout!! AND, my husband is going to work out of state starting next Monday for 2 weeks (he’ll come home the weekend in between) so that will be another challenge with cooking and eating. With the help I get here, though, I know I can do it!!

    Have a great day everyone!!
  • morning all! I had a great(horoble) night last night. I say it like thst because health wise probably not the best. We had fajitas, chips with velveeta and rotel, homemade salsa, homemade guacamole, and a lot of margeritas, then shots of jose! But I had a great time so it was great! Today is obivusly a clean up day, but it's nice to just let go once in a while you know? Hope you all are having a wonderful day!
