Ok it is week 2...many of you already know the plan but just in case here is what we need to do three times this week. Skip a day in between runs and STRETCH!!!

Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes....

we can do this, it is windy as heck here but I hope it dies down so I can do this, or I can have the wind at my back the whole time, but then how do I get home?? LOL

Good luck all!!!

you can do it. I am on week 4 of C25k, and i have found that week 3 and 4 is easier (for me) than week 2. Even though the intervals are longer, there is less of them- so for me personally it is easier. Congrats on week 2, keep up the dedication.

I start Week2- day1 on Friday. Got week1-day3 tomorrow, I'm a bit stiff but plan to do some stretches to help with that x
  • Quick question...I've seen in previous topics of the C25K people were logging distance but then equaling over 30 minutes..I know you can do both, distance or time, but I want to make sure I'm not doing it wrong...is anyone else doing time (meaning 20 minutes plus 5 for warmup totaling 25 minutes?)

I've completed week 1 and have been doing just time: 5 minute warmup + 20 minutes = 25 minutes total. I was curious to see how far I was going, so I clocked the whole thing with the car and it ended up being 1.7 miles.

I'm doing it on the treadmill at the moment until it gets lighter in the evenings, and i just clock time. It would be interesting to see how far I have actually gone, but I think until I am actually up to running continually for a length of time, it won't work for me to do distance - else I'll just walk the lot.

this is how I am doing it also, and depending on how far I have traveled, I do a 5 to 10 minute cool down walk just to get back home.

I use my the RunKeeper app to mark how far I have gone. For week 1 I was going about 2.2 miles. That includes my 5min cool down walk as well.

I'm doing C25K with the treadmill plan and I seem to average about 2.2 miles each time I run. That includes 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down. I'm doing an actual 5k next week, so here's to hoping the training this go around helps!

I am doing timed- I do it on the treadmill (it's kind of annoying switching between walking and running speeds but worth it for me- keeps my pace going strong).

Just wanted to wish everyone a great week! Keep stretching, don't forget to breathe and most of all know that you're one step closer to running that 5k!! :)

Couldn't get to the gym or run outside tonight, but I rode the stationary bike instead. Hoping to do W2D2 on Wednesday night.

I just finished Week 1 today and I am only logging time (running outside).

I'm using the iPhone app Get Running, which uses time instead of distance, so technically it's Couch to 30 minutes (which for the average person should equate to about 5k)

Hi, I am doing week 2 day 1 today but I'm not sure I am doing enough, or the right type of stretches.
What does everyone else do, before and after?
By the way, I havent exercised in over 20 years, I started just walking when I join MFP and now doing the
C5K on my treadmill, I love it, never thought I would be saying that!!!
  • I hope everyone's doing well! Thanks for all the feed back...I wasn't able to do my W2D1 yesterday because we've been getting snow...... again, but hopefully I'll be able to sneak it in tonight! The college XC kids run by my house in town wearing shorts and longsleeved shirts in 20 degree weather...I think they're crazy, but it does give me motivation;) Have a great day everyone!

The wind was RIDICULOUS here too yesterday!! I'm so glad that it is taking a break today - and that highs are supposed to be in the 50s!!!

Like I said before, this week is insane for me, and I'm going to be losing at least one of my normally scheduled C25K days. So on days that I CAN do it this week, I'm sticking with W3. All the better to prepare for W4.

So today was technically D4 of W3 for me - D2 of pushing myself to finish each one of the jogging intervals - even that last 3 minute one at the end! I run outside and according to my app, my pace was a lot slower today than it has been. My average speed went down from 6mph to 4.6mph, which cut my distance by .5 miles. Not sure why that is, or if its a good thing - since I still felt like I was going to die pushing through that last interval.

    Great job everyone!!! :flowerforyou:

Hi all! So glad to have found this group. I did w2d1 today.

My husband bought me a treadmill and I much prefer it over running outside. I find that my pace is just so much better on the treadmill. I look forward to doing this will you all!

Week 3, day 2 completed! The last 3 minute run was harder than at first but I did have a bit of a breeze against me!

I'm not running as far as I was for weeks 1 & 2. Not sure why that is happening unless my brisk walks are faster than my pathetic running/jogging!

Ah well, there's time to work on my distance when I've completed the programme!!!

OK... :blushing: So I didn't start yesterday, because it was still so cold out, but today it was SUNNY and I did W1D1!! As time passed, my recovery walks got slower and slower. Haha! It was pretty good, and I was glad to find that running on pavement was easier than I remembered. (Probably cause I haven't been on the treadmill in so long.)

My hip was feeling better this morning (it was hurting from level 2 of the 30 Day Shred), but after my run now, it is hurting again... Nothing I can't handle though. I took some glucosamine, and I might ice my knee and ankle in a little while (hurting from Zumba), and maybe my hip too.

I know! It's a horrible mix!! It's supposed to rain here for the next 3-4 days, which a mix of snow. :grumble:

Alright, I finished W2D1 and thought my lungs were going to explode! My "brisk walks" in between jogging were actually more "stumbling down the street", but I finished!
I'm supposed to have rain ALL DAY again Thursday, so I might have to push Day 2 to Friday. Ain't that a shame
