I love my Split Pea Soup recipe. I used to not like this soup but this one is YUMMY. Not sure how healthy it is - but peas are good, right? I have given this recipe to so many people and they all love it.

Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup Recipe
    Ingredients:
    • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. dried green split peas, rinsed (I rinse and soak in water for ½ hour or so)
    • 1 meaty hambone, 2 ham hocks, or 2 cups diced ham (I have used ham hocks with 2-3 cups of diced ham or just the diced ham – I buy those little Safeway Honey ham ¼’s in the meat department)
    • 3 carrots, peeled and sliced (I dice)
    • 1/2 cup chopped onion
    • 2 ribs of celery plus leaves, chopped
    • 1 or 2 cloves of garlic, minced (I use two of the Trader Joe’s frozen garlic cubes)
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped, or 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
    • 1 tbsp. seasoned salt (or to taste – I use less)
    • 1/2 tsp. fresh pepper
    • 1 1/2 qts. hot water
    Preparation:
Layer ingredients in slow cooker in the order given; pour in water. Do not stir ingredients. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 to 5 hours or on low 8 to 10 hours until peas are very soft and ham falls off bone. Remove bones and bay leaf. Mash peas to thicken more, if desired. Serve garnished with croutons. Freezes well.
    Serves 8.
I have made this soup for years. Its supper yummy even my kids love it!

I usually put two chicken breasts in with two cups of water, a bunch of seasonings and cook on low for 4 hours. I then shred the chicken, and I have broth left over for soups and such.
  • I use my slow cooker ALL the time, Here is one recipe that I havent seen on here yet.

    French Onion Soup.

    IN SLOW COOKER ADD:
    6 cups of water
3 Beef bouillon packets (or i just use cans of broth instead of the water and bouilllon)
one sliced onion - I use Medium onions because i like the strong flavour

    SIMMER ALL DAY 6-8 HOURS

I then scoop the onion soup into soup bowls, then I add 2 slices of a french baguette to the top and sprinkle with skim motzza.
put it under the broiler for a couple minutes until the cheese bubbles and starts to get brown. MMMMMMMMM! So GOOD

if you dont have the proper soup bowls to broil then just toast the bread, place in your soup and sprinkle the cheese on top. Still great.

There sounds like a lot of excellent recipes! and I haven't even looked at all the posts but I will add and yummy dessert.

    *SLOW COOKER APPLE COBBLER*

8 mediuim apples; peeled and sliced
2 tbsp sugar ( I substitute with splenda)
    cinnamon (amount to your liking)
    juice of one lemon
    2 tbsp butter, melted
    2 cups dry granola

    combine all ingredients
Cover on high 2 hours or low 31/2to4 hours

    Serve with yogurt

    Enjoy!
  • Chicken Salsa

    6-8 boneless skinless chicken breasts
    1 jar salsa
1 - 19 oz can black beans (drained and rinsed)
    1 can corn (not drained)

Toss it all in the crockpot and cook on low 6-8 hours, wouldn't need as much time on high...but never have done them on high as I've always needed the length of cooking time to cook them while I'm away.

Turkey Kielbasa & Sauerkraut (Brown Sugar Splenda)

1 - Link - Hillshire Farm Turkey Polska Kielbasa
(I like it cut into inch pieces)

    1 - bag- Sauerkraut
    (rinsed & drained)
I added another can of sauerkraut, because I love it.

2 - apples Cut, cored, peeled, and cut into small pieces
    (I used Gala apples)

    2- TBSPs Splenda brown sugar
    1 TBSPs raisins
    1 cup water

My Kielbasa was frozen, so I cooked it for 4 hours on high, but you can adjust the heat and time.
    It was delicious!!!!

The Kielbasa is only 90 calories for 2 oz.
Sauerkraut is only 27 calories for 1 cup
    Raisins - 90 calories
    Splenda - 40 calories
    Apple- 90 calories

For 1 cup, I would estimate around 120 calories.

    Pulled bbq pork:
put pork loin or pork roast in slow cooker and add enough root beer to cover roast.
    cook on low for 8hrs
remove roast and drain root beer
shred roast, add bbq sauce and cook on low for and additional 30 min or till warm
add to buns and enjoy! tender and juicy!

I've made this with diet rootbeer. It is great!

gonna try this tonight :) thanks
