Would you sell your pet for $140,000?

Never. My 3-legged hot mess of a wannabe lap dog is the best $80 I have ever spent. I adopted him during one of the hardest times of my life and he has been by my side ever since. I could never part with him. I'm already dreading my final years with him because I know he will never be able to be replaced.0

But they are welcome to my wife and all 3 kids for $50 in Starbuck's coupons.
Hahahahaha.0 -
If I could be assured 100% that they would love them and care for them forever, then yes.0
-
Like I always say anything is for sale, depending on price. go ahead and have it all!0

Can I sell a rental for 140k? I mean, it's not wrong selling other's property and taking the proceeds right? lol0

as long as the recipient was a good person and i could expect that animal to have a good life with them.0

Sell my dogs? Hmmm...if I knew they would be loved like I love them and have a good life, maybe. It would be an interesting moral discussion with myself.0

I could never! My cat is turning 17 and is such a huge part of my life. I have had her since she was a month old and I was 11. She will live and pass away warm, happy, and safe with me. No matter how much anyone offers me for her.0
-
Absolutely not…my puppy is a pain in the *kitten* sometimes, but I love him like crazy! I can't imagine my day without the little fur ball!0
-
I'd sell my younger dog for 140k because we only just got her and the kids aren't that attached to her yet. I could buy a house in my area with that kind of money and be set. My other two pets, I couldn't sell. The older dog is my son's dog and the cat is my daughter's (and the one time she escaped while we were moving, my oldest daughter cried 24/7 until we found her.)
Tbh if it was just MY decision? BOTH OF THEM drive me insane in their own ways - Can I get 140k each!? - the cat likes to piss on the bathroom rug and the dog is a rescue with brain damage from being hit by a car as a puppy, blind in one eye, partially deaf, needs special princess hypoallergenic expen$$$ive *kitten* dog food because of severe allergies, and has a penchant for bolting out of any open door and making us chase him around the neighborhood a few times a week... but my kids would be destroyed if they went anywhere, so they stay.0 -
I don't know if I could or not. I have 4 and love each one. It depends on whether or not that the new person would love and take care of them or not. I couldn't leave them, knowing they'd come to harm.0

I could never imagine giving up my furry shadow/snuggle buddy! When you adopt a pet, you adopt them for their entire natural life. To be willing to sell them for a profit (especially when your family member is upset about the deal) shows they are a commodity, and not a true member of the family.0 -
I will gladly sell my pet0
-
my cat is 17 at Christmas and I dread losing her! I'd borrow and PAY somebody $140,000 if I could get all my past pets back. Fancy putting money before a living creature who lives with you and trusts you! Good for you Rinnylush and Court.0

so now not only are some peeps saying they would spit on $140k but that they would OWE $140k to bring back their past pets? must be some millionaires here on MFP0
-
LOL Figgzie......millionaires! Nah, if the OAS ever dries up, then the rent money dries up. That means I'll be walking the cold streets of this cold clime and poor old Tabitha Daisy will be with me. However I refrained from selling the kids, so maybe they would take us in!!!0
-
My house? Yes!!! My chihuahua and kitty? NEVER! They're my babies!0

OH man, tough! That could pay off my house and then some, but to see my big ole luvvy cat be taken away, no, no I dont think I could!0
-
nope. no amount of money to give up my pets. no way no how. (we have two rabbits BTW). they are priceless.0
-
NO. $#!t no, h3ll no, f##k no. My cats are part of our family. I don't sell my family. Screw the money, I work for a living.0
-
Considering my cats really don't give a crap about me (newsflash people: cats are indifferent to humans, someone feeds them and they like them just as much as they ever liked you), sure I would. I would miss them but knowing they don't care would make it okay.

You mean my cat that's currently walking up and down the hall crying because there's a door closed. The cat that bites and scratches us because he can. Who when not getting his way will throw your drink on the floor and give you the "what you gonna do about it" look. Who randomly attacks company, viciously. Who picks fights with the rottweiler but can't hold his own?
And the rottweiler who has really bad gas, like something died. Who barks at nothing. Who doesn't like other animals, so future pets are out of the question until her time is up. Who is going blind. Who is starting to act like the grouchy old she is?
Never. They are my pain in the *kitten*, good for nothing pets, who will be loved until they die and then missed terribly.
It's hard to grasp the idea that people would. But to each their own.

" I would die before losing my dogs"............."I'd resort to prostitution".........."no money is worth the bond with my pets"...........you folks are either delusional or wealthy...........with $140k sitting right in front of you, that little creature would be gone gone gone
Why delusional? Because I'm content to live with what I have?
Also, that's a cute kid there in your profile pic? Would you sell it for 140K?
Yeah, that's how I feel about my cats.
You might not agree with it, but that's how *I* feel about them.0 -
I would in a heartbeat. Probably even do it for less. But, I'm not a "pet lover" type person. At all. Animals are possessions, not family members. No worries to the pet lovers of MFP--I purposefully will not own pets for the reason that I would make a HORRIBLE pet parent (obviously).

Of COURSE you wouldn't sell your cute little one, but why would you sell your little ones pet if there was one?0

I am a Dog person and absolutely love my little man.
But for $140k? Smooch on the head and best wishes, boy!

Pet loving Story coming up if you'd rather skip. It's Wartime Britain. We kept chickens to help the egg rationing, and one lone rooster, Percy. Percy was a vicious bird. One day he attacked 4 yr old me. Mom mopped up the blood and decided Percy's time was up. The man next door, a WW1 veteran, wrung Percy's neck. Mom and I plucked him and Percy was put in the oven. On Christmas Day dinner, we all sat around the table, and we all looked at brown, nude Percy with sage and onion stuffing oozing out of his bum. We all gagged. I cried, I'd caused Percy's demise and the man next door got a nice Christmas roasted bird. Moral of the story, don't bite the leg of the one you've fed (and avoided) for 3 years. Chickens by the way, if allowed to live out their lives, live for about 9 years.0
