What's your biggest weight loss / fitness pet peeve?

"Clean eating."
Ugh.0 -
Here's mine - "You're skinny, you don't need to lose weight. Why are you counting calories?"
Yeah, I may be thin, have been my whole life, but just because I'm thin, does in no way mean I'm healthy and I want to be healthy. So take that! Don't tell me how to live my life person that's not me! Rant over.0 -

Other people. Here's a scenario I hit at work more frequently than I would care to: The guys are going for pizzas, and I've got I dunno .. say .. a spinach salad with tuna fish on it. So you politely decline to go in on the pizza with the guys and have to listen to; "One piece won't kill you. You have to live a little. etc. etc." (we've all heard it)
Then, a few days later you decide for whatever reason works for you that yup, today I'm going to get whtever (name your own "unhealthy" food here) and the EXACT same people start in on you with "I thought you were on a diet? What happened to eating healthy? Giving up already?"0 -
My pet peeve is the self-proclaimed experts who say, "Oh you should do such and so, I know this for a fact." This as they scarf down a large cheeseburger in front of me! I am losing the weight sensibly, not using the latest fad diet. I know I am getting healthier as I have so much more energy now and I'm starting to see small, non-scale results like fitting into a misses size pair of jeans I haven't worn in nearly a year.0

People who don't rack weights when they're done, and/or rack them in the wrong places. Dude the pegs are labelled. It's not that difficult.
Also, the voices in my head that tell me to eat more Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Spread. Those voices are jerks. (That is ebil!!!!, delicious, stuff - Thankfully the last jar at Wally world was purchased by someone else (I picked it up - then put it back down. 2 minutes of amazing self-control. When I went back to the store a couple days later, it was gone.))0 -
I get annoyed by all the Pinterest pins with things like "say goodbye to your muffin top with this 5-minute workout". You can't spot reduce. You can't. And crunches won't get rid of belly fat. I also don't get all the articles about weight lifting for women that show women holding those little 2-lb. weights. Sure, start there if you have to (although even I started with 5-lb. weights, and I have weak T-rex type arms - but I use 10-lb. dumbbells now), but you can lift heavy and look amazing. I see women at the gym all the time who are gorgeous and lean and strong, and they are lifting very heavy weights.0

Unsolicited advice.
Cloaked concern that I might be overdoing it. I'm a most conservative dieter, almost obsessive about my health. I never do anything to the extreme. So it's an insult, a passive-aggressive slap for daring to do better than they are.
By the way, I often simply respond with a smile. (I privately call it my shark smile). Lots of teeth.0 -
How about the people who say you should stop losing weight or your are getting too skinny. Especially in my case when I am still right on the border of normal/overweight on the BMI charts for my height and weight.0
-
the assumption that I eat like a rabbit or am having your eating controlled by some outside source as if I couldn't possibly eat normally and make my own food decisions...by myself... ("you only eat vegetables now, right?", "someone told me you got a dietician through the hospital and they have you doing low carb. that must be how you've lost so much"). Oh and also that I must be anorexic now. yeah, I've had my "obvious eating disorder" mentioned several times now despite the fact that I can eat these same people under the table....and have on several occasions.0

It's funny how the vast majority of these posts boil the problem down to the existence of other people.0

hahaha....YES. potlucks are my favourite thing. all y'all better get your behinds to that food and load up because once I charge through that table there will be NOTHING left.0 -
Short List:
Fear mongering over unjustified, unproven "truths," i.e. aspartame (diet soda) causes cancer
"Zero Calorie" foods and the thermogenic effect misconstrued
Nancy Snyderman and Dr. Oz used as credible sources0 -
"________ is the only real exercise to get fit" (usually lifting and/or running)0
-
When they post they want to "loose" weight.0

My mother0

People saying "oh its easy for you! You're 20 years younger than me."
Ok then. Keep standing there complaining about how over weight you are. I'll just ignore you now since you didn't want to hear about how counting calories and exercise works.1 -
Ok, one more. The two camps of 'eat clean/eat healthy' and 'I eat whatever I want and still lose' arguing. If you want to eat a high volume of food to achieve feeling full while losing weight, eat clean/healthier or make better food choices. Or get hit with random hunger pangs that you cannot do anything about because you ate a cheese burger, pizza or chocolate bar and to eat anymore puts you beyond your calories allowance. Or eat more to squash the hunger and don't lose weight. So now your hungry and miserable or can't lose weight and miserable. Personally, I am a full and happy girl who eats a ton... and who eats treats... just in moderation. But good for those that don't seem to eat good and lose too. I just don't know how you got past the being hungry part.0

My two pet peeve terms:
- Clean eating. Means nothing. Describe the actual foods you are eating, not some trendy buzzword that means nothing
- Processed food. Also means nothing. If you are trying to avoid pre-packaged foods and things like heat-and-eat meals, why not use the more descriptive term of "convenience foods"

I thought that too about clean eating. I'm like, "no one cares!". But the processed thing, I just think of it as - I don't eat anything made from more than 5 or so ingredients (if bought from a store). I mostly eat fresh fruits, vegetables, poultry, nuts, etc.0 -

What about a bag of trail mix that contains, say seven different types of nuts, seeds, and berries?0 -

I saw a whole post about how this girl wanted to loose another few pounds. It drove me crazy.
My biggest pet peeves is:
People asking how you're doing it, are you spending 3+hours a day at the gym, eating 1000 calories etc... and I tell them about an hour a day, 5 days a week and eating over 1700 calories, they just don't want to hear it, they get distracted, change the topic etc... Don't ask if you want a secret diet pill or something they "can't" do.

A Facebook friend asked for my secret, and I told her I had the help of a whole team of experts. Her reply was pretty cute, "I was hoping the answer was simple, like no chocolate."0
-
No chocolate wouldn't be easy...0

It's the people that I know that lose three pounds and are suddenly weight loss experts and are trying to give me advice (having lost 59 pounds so far). That's the only thing that has really bothered me.0

People who don't know lane ettiquette in a lap swimming situation.0
