All very inspiring - I'm back at the start of my journey (again). Started at 219lbs, currently 206lbs, goal weight of 168lbs and then I'll reassess depending on how my clothes fit! 13lbs down... 38lbs left to go!0

Love seeing all the progress pics....so motivational! Really makes me want to buckle down and get serious.

I'm 5'10" and at my heaviest (in March), I was 350+ lbs (not real sure, sometimes you just don't want to know). I lost a little bit before I started tracking at 345. I've lost 100lbs so far but still have 70 to go so these will be as close as I can get to Before and during, lol. I hate, HATE having my picture taken so I still duck behind the hubby, but it should give you an idea. I have always had a very large chest, I'm overall hour-glass, large frame and my whole family is known as 'strapping', lol. Oh yeah, and I never used to carry belly weight but I had a few tumors and a few surgeries so now I look about 6 months pregnant though I'm definitely working on the belly!
+ note: tried to edit photo size but don't know how

Wow! thanks to those sharing pics, it's inspiring!0

Jen... you've already seen my before/after shot, but I'll share it again for others participating in this thread.
I'm just a hair under 5'9" and currently weigh 136 lbs. I suppose I have a mixed frame - my shoulders, pelvis and ribcage are all spacious and would lead you to believe that I have a large frame. But my ankles, elbows and wrists are all quite delicate/tiny and fit within the measurements of a small frame. So, who knows...
In the 'after' photo below, I weighed about nine more pounds than I do now.
I know this isn't the point but oh my gosh your hair in the first photo - I want it! It's soooo nice!0 -
I am 5'10" and in these picture have lost 120....starting weight 320, just under 200 in the second one.2 -
Thank you all so much for the inspiration! I'm almost 5' 11" so I'm happy to see where I hope to be next year.0

Thank you all! I am 5'10" and coming back today after a 3 month relapse. This thread is my favorite! Congratulations to all on their amazing success and good luck to those of us striving for our goals.0

I will lurk about as well. 5'10 here. Did you know that only 5% of the female u.s. population is 5 ft 8 inches or taller.
Interesting! I am 5'8", and have 2 friends that are the same! My goal weight is 160. It seems like it's going to take forever to get there! But, i am 40, so it's a lot harder for me. :grumble:
Always looking for similar friends!
Same here most of close friends are or have been 5'8" or higher. Wonder where this info came from.

Wow, you are all so inspirational. I'm 5"10.5 and currently weight 213. I had a baby a year ago and am still struggling to lose the pounds I gained with him. I'd like to lose 30 lbs total. I figured that would be a good place for me to be at. Seeing all your before and after pictures makes me remember when I lost all the weight from my first baby. I can't wait to be thin again!0

Surely if bones were all the same size, we'd all be the same height? Why do i have great big man hands and my twin sister (only 2in shorter than me) has tiny hands even though we're the same size? I don't get it.
Bones are not all identical sizes. There are different sized skulls, ribcages, femurs, hipbones, etc. Clearly, a tall man has larger/longer bones than a short man.0 -

i struggled with an undiagnosed gluten intolerance until i was 20, and as many of you want to say gluten is hooey, it changed my life. my entire body shape changed, my mood, my energy. with the help of living GF and dieting, i was able to get down to 158, my lowest weight since high school.... unfortunately i lost track of my goals, didn't see how much weight i was putting on, went through a rough break up, drank too much.... lost my job and became less active..... now i'm here. i go to mexico in 5 weeks and my boyfriend is coming with. mildly terrified. it's been 3 months now where i've been uncomfortable with my size, but been able to hide it. kicking it into high gear for the next few weeks.
around 185
mid weight loss around 170
lowest weight at 158
currently at 165-167ish

Me too. Though I am short, and my biggest all-time crush is barely five feet tall, I admire tall women, especially if they are 5'8"+. I like it when formally heavy tall women get in shape and start looking attractive and start actually looking their height. Therefore, I try to encourage them, and I like to bump threads like this one and keep them going.
I'm really not trying to be a Debbie Downer or put a wholly negative spin on a post I *can* tell is well-intended - but heavy, tall women can and are still attractive even when they're heavy and tall. More attractive is a better way of phrasing it (and, in your opinion).
I agree we begin to look taller when we lose weight, but I think that's because of improved posture through weight loss and exercise. Thanks for the encouragement though!
Ah, no!0
