I loved your group Jackie, and thank you for setting that up. I agree though, we really need one. I haven't posted on here lately because of being sick, but I get on everyday to read - which helps me so much.

How about January 1st I start a new one - not as a "group", but just as a thread. WIth a group, you have to be invited. I like that anyone can get on and post. Hoping that it helps all of us to reach our goals.

I havent posted yet for today, but here were my goals

    1. I will take care of myself, and drink lots of water, and eat healthy foods. :) DONE! I layed in bed almost all day, drank tons of water and orange juice, and starting to feel better~
    2. Log everything I eat, and get back into journaling! :) DONE!!!

    So, for 12/28

    1. Count my many blessings from the year 2014, and look forward to a new year
    2. Drink water
    3. GIVE UP DIET SODA!!

Giving up soda is going to be hard, but I am really wanting to give this up. I drink a diet pepsi in the morning to get my caffeine (I am not a coffee drinker!) So. for one day at a time, I am really going to work on this! ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO HOW TO DO THIS, OTHER THAN COLD TURKEY!!

@tbhnje - I also have that negative self-talk as a big part of the food-behavior issue for me! So I hear you on positive thoughts about myself being a behavior to practice. Thanks for sharing that - :)

Hey all, just booted up the MFP app after a month or two of horrific eating and virtually no exercise. I'm feeling completely naff for it and desperately need to get myself back on track. I stepped on the scales for the first time in a while yesterday and fell off when it showed 200lbs, no wonder I feel so bad!

Love the idea of a daily challenge as it'll keep me coming back and hopefully keep me focused. So, just for today, I will:

    ● Eat no chocolates, crisps or sweets
    ● Eat 5 portions of fruit or vegetables
    ● Complete at lesst 60 minutes of exercise

Cheers all, and god luck with your challenges.

    1. Count my many blessings from the year 2014, and look forward to a new year :):)
    2. Drink water :):)
    3. GIVE UP DIET SODA!! :'(

I have some bottles of diet soda here, so once they are gone, I am not going to buy anymore. But -- the good thing was that I only had ONE bottle. Normally I have about 3 (by bottle, I mean the 16 oz bottles).

Starting to feel a little better today, but I am still going to take it easy. So far today, all I have managed is to get up and take a shower, then back in bed :\ At least maybe this way I will feel good and start the new year out healthy!!

Jackie - I will be thinking of you with your move. It sounds so exciting.

I am so thankful for everyone posting. It helps me so much as I read through each of your goals.

    So.. just for today
    12/29

I switched to sparkling water. I never really enjoy drinking just plain water and sparkling water seems to be more satisfying than still. Its not as easy to find when you're 'out' but all bars have club soda so I order that in lieu of diet soda.

    I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!

I just got restarted this weekend after weighing myself for the first time in many months. I went through some life stress and a break-up (the relationship lasted for over 4 years), so I expected a gain. However, I was not prepared for being only 5lbs shy of my lifetime highest weight. :'(

This seems like something manageable and encouraging to get me started again, so thank you for doing this!

Just for today 12/29/14 I will:

    1. Lift/workout with my trainer
    2. Stay within my calories
    3. Complete a cardio workout

Remember that this is a change, not a diet and not be in a hurry to drop this weight. Let it come off slowly as I learn how to make the proper choices.

Overall, I did well yesterday. Unfortunately, I got off work late and was unable to fit in a cardio session. I am going to try to make up for it today by doing 1 hour instead of 30 minutes!

Just for today 12/30/14 I will:

    1. Stay within my calories
    2. Complete 1 hour of cardio
    3. Snack on healthy options

The only other option besides cold turkey is to taper and replace. If you only drink 1 can a day, that means you would drink only partial cans. Eventually, you would stop drinking completely. Flat pop personally doesn't bother me, so I would save the other portion for the next day. However, if flat pop isn't your thing this may not be an option for you.

Good replacements for the fizz are carbonated waters or flavored seltzers. As for the caffeine kick, you could switch to black tea. It has less caffeine than pop though.
