How much weight loss to see a noticeable difference!?

I think we all have a problem with our appearance to some extent otherwise we wouldn't be here trying to lose weight (granted some of you may be doing it for health but can you honestly say you were happy at your old weight?) - you don't have an eating disorder and neither do I. I'm just confused and upset as to why after all my hard work and 3stone loss, I am still a UK size 12 and body measurements remain the same xxx
May I recommend, go to your doctor and nutritionist and get check out.0 -
Maybe you dont have an ED, i am not an expert to judge, but i have my thoughts about all of this
But for sure your way of talking about yourself is not a healthy way to think about yourself.
1e of all you dont need to loose any weight at all. Your look beautiful and your in a healthy weight range.
2e you dont have much weight to loose so were most the weight loss come from? When you dont have much fat...yeah maybe in muscle than.
3e Why does it matter so much what others think of you?
Be more proud of yourself and what you did. The not noticing of others tell more about them and their ignorance ( when the situation is really true).

I second all the comments above as to why people haven't commented on your weight loss.
Going forward, don't try to lose any more weight. Instead, exercise more and start a weightlifting regimen. Three reasons-- (1) doing so eventually might give you the look you want; (2) it will give you something else to focus on (you said you like a project) and (3) exercise can help your issues with depression. Instead of focusing on what your body looks like, focus on what your body can do. That might help you start to think more positively about yourself.
Don't worry so much about what other people think, or don't think, about you.0 -
Well, went to the holiday lunch today (tradition with FIL) and not a single person commented on my weight loss (22 lbs.). However, I got out of a nice hot bath tonight (not feeling well) and was in a towel and my husband said, "My God, you've gotten so thin."
So I guess the answer for me is: next family get-together, I'll go in a towel.0 -

I lost 30lb and 2 sizes and it wasn't all that noticeable because I have an hourglass figure that gains weight evenly, so I am in proportion up and down. The noticeable thing is, my cheekbones come out at the lower weight.
On the other hand, after a year of maintaining and adding weight training to my routines, my body changed and I lost additional 2 sizes without losing weight. I also changed my hair and clothing style. Suddenly, not only did everyone notice my size change, a lot of people didn't even recognize me at times (I also stopped wearing glasses due to cataract operations).0 -
Ok I've just taken a waist measurement and I have gained an inch since December 1st 2014 despite having lost 9lbs! I feel physically sick...I'm definitely not losing any weight here, I'm clearly losing muscle only! I distraught after all my hard work, I think I'm going to ask my doctor for his advice and see if I can join an NHS weight watcher type programme because clearly I can't do anything successfully by myself! This is so frustraighting and disheartening. All that hard work for nothing. Thanks for your in put though guys and congrats to you all for managing to do so well and look fantastic xxx
Your diary is not open so no one can see what you're consuming or what your exercise is. You're not going to lose a dramatic amount of muscle like that. You may not have an eating disorder but you definitely could benefit from a therapist/support group for body dysmorphia. Your body is legitimately what I hope mine will look like at the end of my journey. You're beautiful but you need to work more on your mind; not on losing more weight.0 -

yeah, i'm an extreme pear shape. that's probably why everyone noticed. people with hourglass figures just carry their weight better. that might be why i didn't think it was that noticable on the o.p. especially in a picture that only features her body. the camera isn't really going to show it as well if everything is in proportion.0 -
That's a 9 pound difference, not 40! It's certainly possible not to see huge changes in 9 pounds. I refuse to believe that no one could tell from 154 - 121 (or 112).

-154lbs and a uk size 12 and now at 112 and STILL a uk size 12. not trying to sound annoying but OMG i didn't even know if that is possible, to lose so much weight and the same size? the only thing that comes to head is maybe to try different brands , you'll be surprise how some differ from one to other
the other thing!? im sorry but have to say it, you have lost 42 effing pounds, embrace it, love your self in whatever size you are, don't lose energy in other people thoughts, focus on your self, not because we are slim every single piece of clothes gonna look nice, find your style and things that work with your body.

What comes to my mine is that she may have been forcing her body into a size 12 when she weighed more and that size didn't actually fit her back then but does now. Lots of people don't wear the right size for their figures. She wears a US size 8, which is a very nice size.
I agree with what other people said, you shouldn't be trying to lose more weight. Maybe you've lost so much that people are scared to comment because they think it might make you want to lose MORE weight and become ill. Especially people close to you who know that you "hate yourself" - which you shouldn't.0 -

I just went shopping to try on smaller sizes like some of you suggested...it was awful, currently at the bus stop in tears having tried to fit into size 14 jeans and they were snug0 -

I've lost 25 lb over the past 10 months, and I noticed the most change in the last 10lbs. Even when the scale wasn't moving quickly, my shape was changing. Slow and steady!0

Perhaps you have wide hips. One of my friends is much thinner than I am, but wears a larger size than I do because of to her bone structure. Bottom line, don't worry about the size, and don't worry about what others think. There are myraid reasons why people may not comment on your weight. You look good the way you are, everyone has complimented your pictures. Find something else to focus on-- start lifting weights and maybe training for some sort of event. Perhaps start yoga. Yoga helped me appreciate my body more. I love seeing how my strength and form improves over time.

You weigh 112 pounds. You are at the lowest end of a healthy weight for your size. Your body is in beautiful condition.
The problem isn't your body. The problem is that you dislike your body.
We can't help you with that.

that isn't what you said. you said that her wide hips might be making it so she can't go down a pants size. i'm saying wide hips are completely irrelevant to that. It's about whether or not you have fat to lose in your stomach, thighs and butt that dictates if your pants size will go down. your bone structure is a constant. It will not dictate whether your pants size decreases though. Maybe she never had any fat in those areas, but that seems odd for losing 40 pounds. Where did the fat come from?0 -

Of the tens, the majority fit very well...except for one pair that was really tight but I could wear if I didn't mind major muffin top and one that wouldn't even go over my thighs.
Women's clothing sizes are not standardized at all. When you add in the impact of vanity sizing, the size is basically meaningless.

I think it is, too. She might be suffering from body dysphoria and seeing something that's not really there. She needs to focus on something else.

This focus on fitting into a pants size, to the point where you are crying over it, is not healthy. This is coupled on top of all of your posts and your profile description.
Please seek help. Talking to a professional will do no harm, but they will be able to help you navigate through why you are feeling this way over your body (which is at a healthy weight that is teetering towards the absolute lowest you should be), and what you can do to improve your relationship with it.0 -

I've lost 30 lbs over the past 6 months and very few people have commented. I am wearing a size smaller (barely). I think it depends on the person. Someone posted a success story on MFP lately, with pictures. She had lost 30 lbs but looked like she had lost at least 50 -- I was impressed. I say keep with the food program and exercise -- and over time it will be noticeable. (btw, I asked a friend why she thought nobody was noticing and she says a lot of people hesitate to mention your weight)0

I am so sorry you were bullied. I was bullied too, by my very own mother, who loved to call me lard*ss and the like. It does leave its mark.
