Original post is from 2012. As inspiring (and well written) as it is, I have to wonder why the OP deactivated her account...0

Thank you. I'm back.
I was happily maintaining, and after my brother died suddenly and unexpectedly, I fell off the wagon. I didn't even realize it at the time, but depression is a *kitten*. I stopped running, stopped logging, got a few minor but annoying injuries, and stopped giving an F. And of course, kept eating like I was when I was really active, so I gained some weight back.
Then when I got my mojo back, I hurt my lower back. That was about six months ago, and I'm just now getting back to being able to run and lift again. During the course of treatment, I lost some of the excess weight. Very slowly, since I couldn't exercise and love food. I wasn't willing to be hungry on top of being miserable with pain. After jumping through hoops to see a specialist for my back, I got a steroid injection and within three weeks, the 10 pounds I'd lost over the summer was back. (insert very foul language here)
By then, it was close to the holidays, so I just put everything on hold. January 1st, as much as I hate New Years Resolutions, I came back. Since then, I'm down 7 pounds. Got about 13 to go.
Six months ago, I couldn't walk without pain. There were times I walked out of the house, got about three doors down, and had to turn right around and come home. Now, I'm running 5k in about 35 minutes, way slower than I was pre-injury, but thankful that I can run at all. Lifting again, also much less than before, but taking things very slow to avoid injury. I'm amazed at how quickly it's all coming back.0 -
