Unexpected results of weight loss

I didn't go into the handicapped stall in the ladies room and came out with a smile realizing that I no longer needed to...because there was plenty of room!
Oh, good one!!! I've thought that too! It's a simple thing, but it gave me so much pleasure when I realized it was ok to be in the smaller ones again.

I haven't lost very much, but my shirts have now quit popping up over my pants where my stomach is. I used to hate that very much!1

I have lost 42 pounds and have 22 more to go to reach my goal. I looked at my hands one day and thought "why are my veins popping out?" Then I realized I could just see them now instead of the fat hiding them.2

I can put my socks on standing up!8

we should keep this bumped.1

Yesterday I was walking my dog and an acquaintance stopped me and asked if I was training for any races and asked me a couple fitness questions I was not even walking in my own neighborhood, but my brother's neighborhood. It is funny to be known as the "fit" one after so many years.4

This is the single most inspiring thread I've encountered on MFP - I'm surprised it hasn't been stickied! Uptown Plum - you are right. It's hard to get excited about all the book reasons why we should be more fit. But all the reasons in this thread - and all the emotion and pride - really bring it home.7

We've been getting killed with snow - about six feet in three weeks. I've been shoveling two hours at a go. Before getting fit I was good for maybe an hour, tops.2

LOL I had this realization too, after shoveling myself out I wasn't tired enough so I now shovel out the elderly neighbor too. See being fit rewards others too.9 -
Love this thread. Can't wait for these to happen!0

When I sit down I feel my boney butt, when I look in the mirror I see a tiny waist. When I see my XXX top to remind how really really big I was, when I see my weight loss journal it keeps me motivated to stay thin. I can go on and on, but these were the best.3

I've got two that I really am happy about. The first I discovered over New Year's. I'm a bartender and on the days I have had to do an open to close(around twelve hours no break) my feet and legs would be killing me and it would take everything I had to get up the next day. Over New Year's I did not just one, but three open to closes in a row and yet, while I was tired, my body was like, okay what's next.
The second is whenever I would sleep on my back, it would hurt like hell and now it doesn't bother me at all. Makes my life better.5 -
I didnt realize i would+get sucked into meeting online idiots while meeting online regular folks who pity them. I just thought i would do math on here. math Only. That would have been more+fun. Never again. SMH.-1

I've only lost 30lbs( out of 160) but I'm feeling amazing. I bought a new dress from target and when I asked for second opinions it wasn't that my legs were too big, my stomach too chubby, but instead that my butt was taking up too much room. Since I've been losing weight my assets look bigger than they did prior.
- my knee high boots finally zipping closed with knee high socks and blue jeans tucked into them
- my pre-weight gain ( shoes almost fitting
- being considered mildly attractive again
- getting jealous comments from family members - that eggs me on to do better
- looking better and feeling better
- buying SMALLER clothing
- people asking ME for diet/weight loss help.
- being able to hug/interact physically with others easier.
- Put my hand on my waist and freaked out because I felt a bulge until I realized it was one of my oblique ab muscle.

For me, its now looking for size 12 clothes (UK size). I never knew they were so hard to find, because a 12 is 'normal ' it sells out quickly, leaving all the size 14s and 16s and 18s on the rail!!1

TMI alert. I suffer from PCOS, after losing 58lb my body has started to realise it's becoming healthier and therefore should do what every healthy female body should do each month, and now do it on a more regular basis. This means more extreme hormonal swings and cramps. But I'm hoping that as I continue to lose weight it will settle back down to normality6

Over the weekend my family went to a chain restaurant for lunch. I ordered my soup and salad, but mooched a lot of loaded waffles fries and mozzarella sticks from my family. And also ate 1/2 an ice cream sundae. I felt so horribly sick afterwards. I kept thinking to myself that I used to eat that stuff all the time, and lots of it. No wonder I used to feel so lousy all the time. It was a great motivator to remind me how bad I used to feel and make me want even more to never live like that again.6

So glad this thread keeps getting bumped. Keep them coming!0

no more cracked heels! I didn't realize until after I'd lost the weight that most of my cracked heel problem was weight-related. Turns out, all that pressure has to give somewhere and no amount of heel cream or pedicures were going to solve that.3

I tucked my shirt in the other day and actually liked how it looked. I used to get blousy tops or shirts that didn't need to be tucked in because I hated that inner tube that would sit above my belt/pants waistline. But that's hardly noticeable now!6

I have spent the last hour reading all these posts. As many others have mentioned before me, they are all awesome and I am so happy for all of you! Thank you for sharing your stories I have recently started my journey and this thread has been inspiring.3

I went from 247lbs to as low as 153lbs (bulking back up and 161 right now). I felt many of the this that people have mentioned on this thread but the most surprising was shoe size. My shoe size shrunk almost 2 sizes with the weight loss.
To this day I still struggle with the "look" aspect. I'm building nice muscle mass but still see myself as the fat person I once was.2 -
What a great topic! Roll on no rubbing thighs! Feeling inspired, great to hear all the benefits I WILL have this year1

I'm 35 lbs down and still a good chunk away from that goal, but already I'm finding unexpected blessings:
- no more heartburn since Oct 1st, 2014. Hello savings in pills!
- no more digging in bra lines, my bras fit nicely and don't hurt
- able to make it to my 3rd floor apartment without feeling like I'm gonna die in front of the front doo
- rings are looser on my fingers already....
so imagine how much more is in store over the next 100 lbs!2 -
- my knee high boots finally zipping closed with knee high socks and blue jeans tucked into them

and that one too!! In fact someone said "Cute outfit and boots" today and I was like "me?"4
