Unexpected results of weight loss

I've still a little way to go but doing well - my two were:
- I didn't realise how long it would take my brain to catch up with my weight loss, e.g. for months in clothes shops I'd still pick up my old sizes (three sizes too big) to the changing rooms, then cause chaos with the shop staff having to swap them for me... Part of me still thinks that I haven't actually lost weight and the shops have just changed their sizing labels!
- I also didn't realise how bony my knees would get! They look fine but I sleep on my side and have to put some of the quilt between them because it freaks me out when I can feel the knee joints against each other!
Any others?!
You will find that you don't have to turn sideways to fit the a narrow space!!!2 -

A big thing for me was finding I had loads of clothes I'd never worn before which now fit. My family all love buying clothes so would always buy me them for christmas / birthdays, but they always bought them in L. I always felt too embarrassed to say that I was actually an XL or XXL so I just said thanks then put them in the bottom of my wardrobe and forgot about them. Now that I'm actually an L I've found I have a load of nice clothes to pick from haha
The main thing for me, like a lot of other people, is how different I seem to get treated. I feel like when I was really heavy people just didn't want to get to know me, since I looked terrible. Also losing the weight has given me more confidence to talk to people, so that's a factor too. A combination of the two have made it a lot easier for me to get to know new people, which I love8 -
This may seem personal but I'm an open book. At 266lbs I had a physical and at 29 years old my testosterone level was down to a 105 level. The range is 0-1000 with the average around 500. 300 is considered low and 105 is terrible. Instead of giving me testosterone treatment, my doctor challenged me to lose 30lbs. I've completed that and my level is now 350 and increasing. I was skeptical that weight gain was the contributing factor but that was due to denial. I'm on my way to losing another 30lbs. I feel better than I have in a long time.17

Dont need to say anything at this point in time, since everyone here have covered everything that i would have said. Every day i find new things that surprise me about the new weight . I still have a ways to go, but am enjoying the trip, none the less. I wish everyone the best on their journey. Life should be taken with humor , enjoy all there is to enjoy, and take one day at a time.2

I love to buy smaller underwear!! I never thought Id have some many pair!

I'll be so happy to see my collar bones again. Still have 100 pounds to go. I found an old photo of mt HS grad party. Its hard to believe I was that thin over half my life! Now, I use that photo to remind me. Cheers to everyone and I hope to join you soon2

I am cold ALL the time. Im not even at goal and wonder if its gonna get worse i hate being cold, but rather be weighing less. I have trouble parting with my clothes, yesterday i finally decided to let go of a straight skirt that has about 5 or 6 inches around it to spare( I actually was going to pin it up and wear it, what is that about??) I keep bumping into things Im used to taking up more space. I keep staring at my neck, shoulders and collar bones, fingers and wrist bones - I have never seen them as an adult. I keep fighting the urge to cross my legs (which I never could do) now I remind myself go ahead girl cross them legs, haha.7

Fear that if you get rid of something, you'll gain the weight back and have nothing to wear?
It's taken me forever to feel like I'm not going to go back up, and it's ok to start getting rid of some stuff.

I hear you on feeling cold all the time. Or if not feeling cold, I certainly get colder quicker. The flipside of that is that I find heat so much easier to tolerate. I used to have a fan in my bedroom at all times, even during the winter. Now I still have a fan but use it for the white noise it generates. I have to aim it at the ceiling.1 -
I'm still on my journey but am enjoying victories along the way such as, being able to fully wrap a regular towel around me. Not the huge bath towels but the smaller ones that used to leave a big gap. I finally went to the sauna in my gym and wasn't self conscious at all.2

being able to walk those '10mins' to the bus stop much faster, I find I have time to spare by the time I get there, and my morning minutes are precious to me3

Me too! My skin cleared up in just a few days of watching what I eat. And so much more energy!1 -
It really sucks when someone comes up and says "you´ve lost a lot of weight. What´s your secret?. Come on, tell me". As if there where some miracle pill or something you can just swallow and become thin. When I answer "honestly, there´s no secret, only exercising, eating less and enduring the hunger"...(oh, the hunger) they look at me as if I were deliberatedly hiding some secret formula to myself. That sucks. It´s as if they can´t believe it´s all about my own strenght of character and resolution to be thin that made me loose the weight.4

Lack of thigh rub was a huge one for me. I actually like wearing dresses now. LOL!
Another is how much I'm freezing all the darn time.
And how much I love physical exercise
And how incredibly grumpy I get if I don't get my exercise in.
And for the TMI - I have endometriosis. The pain during my periods was insane, but now that I'm normal weight, the pain is gone.
Snap snap snap. If only the doctors would really strictly say "lose weight and we won't need to be seeing you", rather than skirting round the issue as they do. However I blame no one but myself for the state I got in. It's fabulous to read another endo sufferer is managing it with weight
This is SOOO true! I had a friend who has had sleep apnea for a while and they keep telling him to sleep this way, sleep with this on, etc, etc and then he got a second opinion and the dr straight up said "Loose 60 lbs and stop eating junk. Get healthy and your body correct this issue." He did and now has no issues. He spent 2 years going through all that just to be hit with the truth of how important healthy and weight loss is.
I am only in the beginning stages of my journey but can already feel a different when I sleep. I would always have a hard time sleeping bc of not being able to breath in a certain position or whatnot. This is fixing itself with each pound. Love it!5 -

Biggest surprise was how good I actually looked in slim-shirts...they don't make many of those in 3-4XL. Much bigger selection when your a medium0

If I sit in a chair with a hard back, my spine right wear by bra is rubs and starts hurting. I am also ALWAYS freezing to death!!0

It's interesting how many people say they are freezing. Something I've become so aware of is the urge to get something to eat whenever I feel cold. I'm positive I did a lot of mindless eating in my life for the simple fact that I was cold.
Now I go put more clothes on to deal with it.2 -
Tying shoes no longer requires some kind of side bend yoga, gardening not painful. Heck, anything involving bending down is way easier.1

I have more energy! I feel so much better. I am excited to be exercising again and watching what I eat. I also found a workout friend. My son gets married in 5 months so I WILL stick with this!1
