Not in this case - she wants it, she just controls how it's done. Remember, she's a virgin at the start of the relationship, and very attracted to him.

Yeah, I think that because she is a virgin people view her like she is 15 year old teenager. But, she is a 21 year old virgin. She is old enough to lose her virginity.

With the amount of money it made opening weekend, there are more lonely cat ladies in America than I thought.

I'm a lonely cat lady, and I'm not going to see that crap. :)

  • What...the....hell? That happens?!

    *stares horrified* whoa.....gross

    Okay-

For starters- I work with adults with developmental disabilities and find the word "retarded" offensive.

    - The book was so poorly written I don't imagine the movie being any better. I got to chapter 10 before I called it quits.

Sorry, around where I live its thrown around lightly and with little regard, should've used a different term

Well, for starters, how about we not use the R word. Ok?

The book is garbage, poorly written and it's not an accurate representation of the lifestyle.

Sorry, was using someones post on my fb as an example

My husband wants no part of it and finds it offensive, he'd rather watch porn at home, not that we need it but *shrugs* fun to mix it up a bit, he sees it as a way for women to escape their everyday men (husbands, boyfriends) and daydream and fantasize about another man other then their own. It makes him mad to see a trailer on YouTube or on TV. He'd rather me not read the books or go see the movie, but the amount of both negative and positive feedback makes ms interested. *shrugs*

What exactly do you mean by retarded? Because I'm sure you're not comparing the movie to a mentally challenged person are you?

Sorry, I was just referencing a post I saw on my fb, some guy was ranting about it

I wasn't insulting anyone? I was refrencing a post a guy made on my fb timeline

Based upon your use of the word "retarded" in this instance, I am sure the books are right in your wheelhouse.

For the hundredth time....I was referencing a post someone made on Facebook -_-

Haven't read the book(s) and probably won't see the movie. Just because something is the ZOMG YOU MUST DO THIS THING MEOW thing of the moment doesn't mean I'm going to do it or care about it.

But then again, I didn't get on the Breaking Bad train until late in the game, so who knows.

I totally agree with jjblogs...and my 2 cents is...Anne Rice's Beauty books are a thousand times better written and sexier!

Nope, no thanks. I started reading the first chapter and found it poorly written...I also don't like that it conveys the message that emotionally abusive relationships are something to pine for. Being a survivor of domestic violence, the whole series just makes me uncomfortable.

Read all three books, they weren't all that well written, but they kept me entertained. Won't be seeing the movie, but I will say that the soundtrack is amazing.

    1. The books were written like bad fanfiction because they WERE bad fanfiction. It was a painful read.
    2. The storyline is an embarrassment on the BDSM community and it's sad that some people are going to think that's what actually happens in these type of relationships. Not the case.
    3. The actors playing Anastasia and Christian aren't nearly as attractive as they were made out to be in the book, so there's that.
    4. If that girl bit her lip or talked about her inner goddess one more time, I probably would've gouged my eyes.
    5. I disliked every single character in the book, especially Anastasia. She was just plain annoying and childish. Nothing sexy about that.
    6. I won't be spending my hard-earned cash to watch this in theaters. I may watch it for free on Netflix in a few months, but I'm not expecting much. I can get hotter erotica for free online.

On the other hand, all of these people (especially here in the south) protesting this film because of the "sexual abuse" and "immoral content" just piss me off. Get over it, people. There are much more damaging things out there. Fifty Shades isn't going to scar anyone for life.

  • I am a mom and currently pregnant and still like being tied up and spanked, even way before these kids came along :D

Hahahahaha I'm not a mom but I enjoy it too!

Agreed. How many posts *do* we need calling out OP for use of the word "retarded"?

If you had read any of NY posts you would have seen I apologized and said I should have used a different term.

I'd rather watch porn with my husband (and have it lead somewhere) than watch soft-core drivel with a crowded theater of women.

I didn't read the books, but I read the excerpt where he pulls the tampon out of her himself and starts going at it. That was enough to turn me off.

Really?! I have not read any of the books, but that just turned me off too. Ugh...

I mean, I get it. You're allowed to be offended.

And I'm allowed not to care. <3

A lot of girls fantasize about being dominated by a rich, powerful, attractive man.
