What nobody tells you about losing weight

Well.. Is the mirror thing really a vanity?? Lol.. When your making gains your body is changing in all kinds of ways and it just feels like the mirror is helping me adjust and get to know myself again lol. When your goals get insane it consumes quite a lot of thought. I feel like your always going to check up on your results constantly.. Like a kid on a road trip that's gone on too long.. "are we there yet?" "oh.. (askes again in 2 minutes) lol11

After loosing 105lbs I am still baffled by the following:
- I had to replace all my clothes except the socks
- I still automatically drift towards the plussize section of the store, where nothing will fit me anymore (my jeans went from a size 18 to a 10)
- I was on the elliptical at the gym one day and that smaller room has mirrors on 3 sides. I was going along and looked up. I saw this ladys backside in the mirrors and thought to myself 'she looks pretty good. Hopefully I will look like that some day.' After a moment I realized I was looking at my own backside. The waist long braid gave it away.... lol
- I look in the mirror and still expect to see the 275lbs person every time (I have been 170lbs for the past 3month)
- I do not feel well if I do not exercise
- I have more lines in my face (the fat was hiding them well) at age 5042 -
My face is not symmetrical. I guess I knew this, it's one of the things I noticed when I was a teenager and way too critical of myself but I sort of forgot because my face was so round.
And I am kind of uncomfortable with the "looking good" compliments. I thought I would love it but not so much.6 -

Main things I've noticed in my first two months
1) My shoes got smaller.
2) My entire day revolves around my workout and my meals.
3) I sleep a lot better
4) I drink more water in a day than I used to in about 2 weeks.
5) I literally can't shut up about fitness and eating right, it's become a total obsession.
6) Some days are much harder than others.29 -
I've only lost about 15lbs but so far I'm noticing that the bathtub seems much bigger. I keep slipping down if that makes sense. I think my big fat bum was helping to balance me and now that it's turning into a little toned bum I can't balance..10

That you lose your boobs alongside the weight loss :-(9

How the arm rests in my truck used to be too low, now they are too high. I think the "cushion" I am sitting on has gotten quite a bit smaller.15

How new people that come into your life can have such a profound impact on you and your journey. For me it is the folks that are helping me with nutrition and fitness counseling as well as new friends that I have met at the gym or other athletic endeavors. The support from some of these folks has been overwhelming. Also the support from family and friends. Yes some are jealous but whatever on them.8

That my clothes are getting baggy and that makes me think I've stretched them out. It's actually because I've lost 19 lbs (so far) though. And that some days I can still look in the mirror and see myself how I used to be.16

People's reactions will be strange. When I say I have lost 50 pounds their response is always...how did you do that? When I answer exercise and eating less they say...when do you find time for that? Answer...6 to 8 every day before work. Then they say...I could never do that! Never? Really? I don't get it.9

In the past I lost 40 pounds. Unfortunately, I ate all the weight back +16 pounds.
I'm here to get back on track.
I've lost 5 lbs, I already feel lighter, and somehow breath better. Even with that little weight off breathing has been easier for me.
This post is truly inspirational for me, thank you for sharing.
I am really happy to be reading these posts as well. I'm starting Weight Watcher's tomorrow. Excited to start, but nervous as well. I have to... NEED to be successful this time! Has anyone here lost weight and kept it off on WW?7 -
I'm not embarrassed to wear shorts that don't come to my knees.17
