@briebee7 - I am running the 1st half so I can run the bridge Maybe I will see you there!
@4leighbee - I hate rest days too and I get so antsy reading about everyone's runs!
@cooter_mom - your excitement is contagious - love it! Go Girl!!
@Ohhim - is the 140BBM your target HR, somewhere around 60-80% of max? I am trying to figure out about where I should be for a training HR0 -

SonicDeathMonkey80 wrote: »ETA if you want to dig a little deeper and see how I train relative to my race paces, here ya go. My easy pace is a minute above my marathon pace, which right now is 7:45. I do that once a week, along with a speed session, and I'm still relatively fast. Some people will run everything at MP or harder, and that's a recipe for burnout.
Or injury... per an ultra-competitive triahthlete friend of mine, I started training by HR a while back which had me slow my pace significantly to stay under 140 bpm for 80% of my runs. Although my non-speedwork training runs take a few minutes longer, I've definitely avoided hurting myself as often, I don't feel dead for the rest of the day after killing myself during longer runs, and I've become significantly faster in the process.
More easy time on your feet is never a bad thing, regarding your training. I cringe when I see people train fast and race either the same pace or slower. Running is one of those sports where the object is to NOT give 100% every time you go out there0 -

HAPPY PIE DAY PEOPLE!!!!
WOOT WOOT
Week update for me.
hard to keep track when you're only 2x a week lol- no worries!
3.2- 2.48 @ 23 min (seriously ice conditions-didn't die- celebrate)
3.4- 2 miles @ 37 min (no sports bra- walking incline FWD/BKW)
3.7 - 3 miles @ 30 min (treadmill- slow run- and bothers my shins- still done)
3.12.-4.17 miles @ 35:42
3.14- 8.46 Miles@ 1:22-rainy rainy- took the car to the dealership and thought I'd hit 4-5- but he told me it was probably going to be over an hour- so I hit 3 and said- meh- go for 4 and make it an easy 8 today.
lots of graded up downs- really started to bit around 6 miles- had some sock malfunctions- and was trying to keep an eye on the clock/distance- so stopping and pulling out the phone ever 15 min slowed me down- But i'm not unhappy- longest distance in the last year I've run and the average is under 10. I'll take it.
Total March Goals

Always nice when you race a new distance, as you'll always set a PR. Did a fun 5 miler this AM sponsored by my local hockey team. Finished 19th out of 450 or so. I didn't take home any hardware as my age group was stacked (top 3 get awards, finished 4th), but got a free hockey ticket out of the deal for signing up, so no complaints.

3/14 - 5 miles (36:42 - race PR, 7:21 pace, 19/450, 4th AG)
Total: 79 miles
Goal: 180 miles
Remaining: 101 miles
@shanaber - My max HR is 189, so 140 is roughly 3/4 of my max.0 -
I'll aim for 15 through end of month. Doing Run for God class for the 2nd year but trying to go a little above and beyond since I want to do at least a 10K this year.

Thanks @Ohhim - I am not exactly sure what my max HR is. If I use the calculation it is around 160 and my target should be 120. I am pretty regularly in the 130's and the highest has been in the 140s but that is unusual. It has never gone above 150 at least when running with the HR monitor. I am going to wear it in tomorrow's 5K and see where I push it to since I will be running all out.
Happy PI day everyone 03-14-15 9:26:53!
Here's a fun article for all the nerds in this group on why today is such a special PI day!

March 3- 5.05 miles and strength training
March 4 - 5.09 miles
March 5 - 5.13 miles

March 8 - 71 miles biking. Beautiful day out but that was too long.
March 9 - rest day
March 10 - strength training.
March 11 - 5.2 miles - knee felt fine! So thankful.
March 12 - 5.2 miles.
March 13- rest
March 14 - 10K! Didn’t stop the whole time, except to grab water cup and drink it. Happy with time — 1:05:33, although it said chip and clock were same time, which doesn’t make sense since I started back in the 10+ min corral. Daughter finished in 53 mins. She was happy with that - beat her goal.

@tdbernrd I truly believe I would have my best times ever using Zombies Run, I also truly believe I would NEVER sleep again. Haha

I think today will be a rest day for me. 30km/hr winds with gusts up to 70km. How do you run in the wind? It totally takes my breath away! But I have run 5 days in a row this week, so maybe a rest today is a good thing. Happy Pi Day!!!!!0 -

March 1 -Rest
March 2 - 4 miles
March 3 - 5.1 miles (furthest run to date)
March 4-6th - Rest arches, I pulled them jumping rope.
March 7 - 4 miles OUTSIDE!!! It was so warm here, I was surprised!
March 8 - 4 miles (plus a hike on the mountain)
March 9 - 3.1 miles (5k OUTSIDE!!, plus a 2 mile walk and weight training)
March 10 - 2.25 miles (It was hard to run tonight....)
March 11 - 3.1 miles (5k)
March 12 - 3.1 miles (5k, outside and the pace was MUCH different than on the treadmill. It was 9:47 mpm versus the almost 12 that I get on the machine)
March 13 - 2 miles (night before first 5k race)
March 14 - 3.1 miles (5k) I feel great about most of my first race! I ran my fastest mile time so far (8:56 mpm) and was on track to *maybe* place but ended up with a side stitch right in the middle that slowed me way down for about 1/2 mile (I need to fine tune what I should eat on race mornings) so my finish time was right at 30 minutes. I *think* this is a decent time for a first 5k race??

long 7 miles on the treadmill today since I didn't have a sitter for the boys, so off to the ymca we went. I covered the machine with my towel so I couldn't see the time dragging and watched a few episodes of friends on my iPad

Cabin Fever Reliever 2015. A virtual 5K from raceyourneighbors.com
I enjoyed this as I was able to do a path I was familiar with and go when ever I wanted to within a given time period (it opened today and closes the 21st).
Happy runnings everyone!

10k trail race today, it was a 2 loop race and just as I was finishing the first loop the winner whizzed past me and finished, but It didn't upset me I just felt really pleased for him and I was enjoying myself so much with my friends and family cheering me on. The only disappointing thing was I forgot to turn my Garmin on because I was to busy chatting with a fellow competitor at the start.
51.1 completed........ 18.9 to do.0 -
March 1-7: 4 miles (last week was rough)
March 8-14: 13.8 miles (back on track)
