    Got a late start this morning so I decided to work on my "speed" instead of distance today. Oh yeah thanks DST for putting me back in the dark again in the morning. :angry:

    Just catching up on everyone, first week and everyone is doing great!

    @cooter_mom welcome to the outside world! How about if your daughter bikes instead of taking the scooter or for shorter runs would she run with you :smile: My daughter runs XC and there are days she wants to come on my runs, but has already put in 8 - 10 miles and refuses to run another foot, she will ride her bike. She gets ahead of me then comes back etc.
    @ddmom0811 71 miles on a bike - wow super job!
    @shanaber love the new profile picture, I just read your profile quote Love it! My Dad's family lives in Oceanside area and I can remember before his brother passed how they use to take their "boat" to Catalina all the time.
    @littlenell107 "ninja mode" LOL too funny!
    @elise4270 I run from time to time with my daughter's cross country team. I love it, it's great to see the kids out there doing their thing. Of course I do my 6 miles while they do their 10 miles so I can meet them at the end
    @honunui beautiful whale picture. We need to see a picture from your observation deck after it's built. I figure if someone is building a deck the view must be something :smile:
    @acria welcome!
    @mmabry72 - nice 5K!
    @madube84 that is an amazing transformation with a 1 lb loss. Fantastic!

    @cooter_mom...I think once you actually just get out and do it, you will discover that running alone outside is the most unboring thing you have ever done. I think if you do most of your runs outside this spring and summer, you will dread going back to the mill. Running outside lets you experience what running is all about... subtle adjustments to an ever-changing terrain, being alert to your surroundings, feeling your feet pushing off the ground, experiencing changes in temperature and precipitation...

    A treadmill deprives you of the exhilaration of running through a spontaneous rain shower and seeing the rainbow at the end... it keeps you from discovering mental toughness when snow is blowing in your eyes... it doesn't let you feel the satisfaction of seeing the geographical distance you actually covered (did I really run to the next town and back?). And if you can add to that, the unparalleled thrill of running through the woods on a single track trail, picking your way around and over rocks, roots, streams... I'm getting a rush just writing this and I just finished my run....

    Damn girl... you gotta ditch that mill....

    What he said!

    I'd add to it that you get a deeper knowledge of the area than you could ever get get by whizzing past in a car.

    Yesterday's run ended when it was almost dark. I kind of enjoyed running later in the day. That was my last 12 miler until the upcoming 13.1 race in two weeks. I'm feeling soooo prepared. I can't express how happy I am to have gotten this far. Last year at this time, I wasn't sure I'd ever be running again due to my knees, but I'm all (mostly anyway) healed up now and feeling great. I don't think I've ever achieved such a hard-fought year-long goal like this before.

    03/01/2015 - 12.01 Miles - Cumulative 12.01
    03/03/2015 - 4.35 Miles - Cumulative 16.36
    03/05/2015 - 8.10 Miles - Cumulative 24.46
    03/08/2015 - 12.06 Miler - Cumulative 36.52

    Goal 70 Miles

    A little something funny ...

    I noticed again yesterday morning that if the sun is behind you, casting a shadow onto the path ahead, and watch your shadow running over the terrain, you really appear to be zooming down the road, lol! Looking up occasionally to say hello was a little shock when perspective changed and I could see/feel my actual running speed.
