I live in Washington, and even though it's legal now, I still feel weird about smoking weed. (or eating it). I haven't done it yet, although I think it could really help my anxiety/sleep issues. Those D.A.R.E. guys got me good! :D

Hahaha. It's not legal in Kansas, but even if it does become so, I don't think I'll try it. I didn't in high school when other girls were smoking it in the locker room, so I don't think I would now. I'm pretty square and I'm perfectly fine with that. o:)

I have never smoked weed. I've had friends around me that have or do, but it's never appealed to me. I'm not against having it legalized here, but I do hate the smell and wouldn't want to be around it.

I hate the smell too, and I hate not having full control over my body. That's the main reason I don't enjoy drinking to the point of getting drunk. I'm sort of a control freak.

I confess that I have never tried illegal drugs of any kind. If weed was legalized here, I would still not try it. I figure if I made it through my teen/young adult years without trying it, there is no point now. I also do not drink to the point of being drunk, but do enjoy the occasional glass of wine/beer.

I was raised in a strict no-alcohol environment (I am a PK), and I am proud that I have a healthy relationship with alcohol.

I've never tried any illegal drug either. I'll have the occasional drink and have gotten drunk a few times, but I don't like how I feel so it's pretty rare that it happens. And hangovers suck.

Never tried drugs or cigarettes here and no interest at all. My father drank quite a bit (I'm French, doh), but I don't even drink alcohol anymore because frankly I don't enjoy it... and I only got drunk once, and never again after that. Still don't see the appeal.

Good for you! I know several PK's and they refuse to touch alcohol of any kind. To each their own, I guess.

    Consider yourself lucky!

I won "Biggest Partier" in high school. Did every rec drug, except those requiring a needle. In my early 20s settled into a pattern of binge drinking & fairly heavy pot use (oddly enough, I NEVER started smoking tobacco. Ever. Weird huh?)

Right before age 40 the wheels started falling off my drunkmobile, and it was time to quit. Tried picking up the bong again, and hated it (despite living in Colorado...ironic irony, huh?) And that was when I started getting serious about this whole eating right/fitness deal.

So after a 25 year partying career, I had lots of great stories, and quite a few regrets. All in all I wish I had never done it, but that's life!

Gah. The grammar nazi in me had "Maybe concentrate more on the 'College' part instead of the 'Fun' part?" all typed up in the reply box...but I stopped myself.

I'm sure negative responses would have followed had you posted the response, but there are SO many people that use the wrong word maybe if it WAS pointed out every time people would finally start to learn?

I wish MFP had some kind of screening system and if you post something using that word wrong then your post just disappears. That's mean, I know.
Hyperbole and a half again... She's covered 'alot'. Wish she'd done loose/lose too. I always like to think that what people mean is that they're opening the windows and saying to their excess pounds "Fly!! Be free!" Either that or something darker and Shakespearean-sounding about loosing the pounds of war.

OMG... I'm laughing like a complete idiot right now... :)

My husband was quite the partier before we got together. He preferred to drink most of his calories rather than eat them. He has a lot of stories about those days (even a ridiculous tattoo on his right hand) and some of them are really quite funny, and I have no stories, but I also have zero regrets about my teenage/early adult years.

Glad you got your life on track. Nice bicep btw.

I've been wanting to eat all day... ended up digging in a pint of Baskin Robbins and eating 3/4 of it. Ugh. Now I feel sick... (and I'm 400 calories over maintenance of course).

I feel like a loser because I don't ever really have any GOOD confessions for this oh, so worthy thread, but here goes.

Confession 1: I packed an awesome lunch today and wanted to devour it before 11 this morning. I don't take lunch until 1. I managed to make it until noon, but now I'm sad because my food is over. I often get sad when my food is over.

Confession 2: I totally had Dr. Pepper last night with my Auntie Anne's pretzel bites and didn't log it. Oops. >:)

My youngest (8) has a bad habit of taking bites out of her lunch why she packs it. The school policy is no junk food (crisps/chips, chocolate, cookies/biscuits) so it's not like it's something sweet. Came down stairs yesterday and she had half her sandwich gone. This was after her breakfast.

Errrrr, what?! How is that even enforced and why? I'm all for encouraging healthy habits, but this seems a bit extreme.

My children's school is the same. I'm used to it now.

my kids school does this too. sort of. The meal must be "balanced" so you cant send a bag of chips and a can of pop and call it lunch. You can send a snack sized bag of chips along with a sandwich and an apple.

If the lunch you packed is not a "balanced" lunch, they will give your child a sack lunch from the kitchen, which is a cheese sandwich on wholegrain bread, a fruit, a carton of milk, and a oatmeal cookie.

Then you get a nasty note about the inadequate lunch you packed. So that is how they enforce it. I know this because I asked the school at length about it.

My son has a sensory disorder, so basically his lunches are the same thing, everyday, with no variation. I was worried I would get nasty notes about it, but they assured me that was not the case! Thank goodness.

Thank you all who have explained this lunch policy. It makes me wonder what would've happened if that was enforced in my elementary school because from 1st - 3rd grade I suffered extreme anxiety which led to stomach issues and the only thing I could keep down for lunch for three years was a single chocolate pudding. That was it. In 4th & 5th grade I managed 1 plain tuna sandwich. (and I'm still lagging behind on this thread; been super busy at work)

I had anxiety as a child, too, which also resulted in me throwing up very frequently. Looking back, it's odd my parents never seemed to worry about it. Did you eventually outgrew it? I still have anxiety, but grade school was the only time period I threw up from it habitually.

My 7yo has been doing this since she was about 3. Even at home. We are thankful when we can get through a whole week without her throwing up at the supper table. She has been to several specialists and they all agreed that it was definitely psychological and not physical. Do you remember how old you were when you grew out of it?

I never did it past the age of 12, even though I've struggled with a lot of anxiety and depression through the years. Surprisingly, even with some pretty bad body image issues and binge eating, I've never purged.

I refuse to throw up now, unless I am horribly ill. I had a very nauseous pregnancy, but only threw up twice, I think just through sheer willpower. I just hate that helpless feeling.

For as much as I hate the "breathers", the "foot shufflers" are even worse. There are two people in particular here at work that cannot seem to master the heel-toe aspect of walking. Pick up your feet, woman!

I posted about foot shufflers a couple hundred pages back. There 2 people in my office that I want to stab in the throat with a pen every time I hear them dragging their feet like Walkers.

On the upside, if they happened to be choking on something at the same time (while dragging their feet)... and if performing a Heimlich maneuver subsequently failed... you could then engage in performing an emergency tracheotomy -- with a pen -- such that a choking, Heimlich-resistant foot-dragger could then be stabbed in the throat with a pen FOR ALTRUISTIC REASONS! (heck, to save their life! -- it doesn't GET more altruistic than that!)

This freaky pen-used-for-emergency-tracheotomy measure has been 'showcased' on several medical dramas (I remember when they did it on ER! (and when watching that episode, all those years ago, I thought, "OUCH!!!")).

In fact, here it is IRL --

[ Note: I just had to say, I absolutely love it when a URL is detailed enough that one doesn't even need to click on the link to know relevant details of the associated 'news item'... this one answers the questions what? who? where? why? and how?, all in one fell swoop! ;) ]

Mo, review the 'training' videos (they're on you-know-who-tube!), and 'practice', so that you're ready whenever the 'opportunity' might happen to present itself... ;P

This whole thing made me laugh. I remember that ER episode... George Clooney found some kids stuck in a storm drain or something? I was quite young when I saw it, I remember being really terrified of that happening to me.

And yes to the URL. I just sent this link to my brother: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/04/a-spa-in-japan-is-now-offering-ramen-noodle-baths.html

I'm kind of square, too! I hung out with a lot of punks and skaters in high school, AND worked at a hookah bar, and still never managed to smoke pot.

I can't say I'd never try it if it was legalized in my state. The low side effect pain/anxiety/insomnia relief is very appealing.

I had a Friend who would Capitalize every Word in a Sentence she thought was Important.

It made me so unbelievably stabby. She's an elementary teacher now, and I'm pretty sure she still does it.
