sounds like you swim like me

@SBRRepeat Love the selfie and the running course picture, around and around you go. LOL A medal with a mirror inside you say? Like you plan to wear your medal everyday. Well I mean after you take it off after a week, it's not like you wear it every day

Sounds like you swim the way I run, which is just delayed falling.
For probably the first 3 months of my swim training, my internal monologue was "breathe, now don't, omg I'm drowning, breathe, ah! lungs filled with water, don't drown!" Over and over again, lol.

@skippygirlsmom Maybe I was supposed to carry it as a compact to fix my makeup in? Another race series gives out medals that are also bottle openers. It weighs like 6 lbs, though. Besides the ridiculous, vaguely racist belt buckle I won at a triathlon last year, it's the worst medal ever.
ETA: yes, we did 36 laps of the same .1 mile course yesterday. It was rough.

The medals are too funny! One of the mom's from soccer said to me one night, you should run the track while the girls are practicing. I said I need to run 10 miles, she said how long is the track, I said 1/4 mile, she said see that would be great. I said okay you stand here and count out 40 laps. The light bulb when off in her head and she said how boring :-)

Hey beautiful running types! I just thought I'd check in and update those of you who might be wondering. I had an appointment today with the most wonderful sports orthopedic doc: stress fracture, immobilization, ugly clunky boot, back in two weeks for another x-ray. He listened to me (unlike the urgent care chick) and immediately came back with "hmm ... that doesn't sound at all like a sprain," then dug his thumb right onto the spot. I actually grabbed him (poor guy). So ... all good. I'm grumpy about the dumb boot and no running, but I am happy to have a plan of action. I hope to begin anew with you guys maybe mid-May for a half-month goal. Cross your fingers for me. And have a GREAT running spring! :) Leigh

So sorry that happened. Fingers crossed you are back running soon!

@shanaber - yes, taper weeks are tough. Rest day for me as well.

@Training2BeFast - I am sure you will do fantastic this weekend!

@4leighbee - Ah man. Sorry to hear about the stress fracture. Rest up!

@SBRRepeat - 36 laps of .1 miles?! Wow! That course map is hysterical looking at but I am sure it was really rough actually running it.

I think my favorite race medal is the one that seconds as a wine cork. ;) I have also gotten a wine glass from a few different races as well. I live around 4 different wine country areas. There are a ton of half marathons that end with wine tasting at the finish. Love them all!

I'm so behind in commenting here and don't remember what I've posted, so I'll just post them all. I do remember last time complaining that I was not doing well and frustrated that I couldn't get to 4 miles, but I finally did it on Sunday! I've decided Sunday will be my long runs and I will break from my program to push myself to go farther each time.

    April 9-2.0

So funny!! Doc said I could pull myself through the water with a buoy between my legs, and all I can think of in my head is my body vertical with my head down, arms thrashing, and my knees and feet sticking out of the water. It probably wouldn't go well for me. I am a land dweller. ;)

Oh that's rough.... Enjoy the time off. I'd employ someone to wait on me hand an and foot until the grumpy passes!

@faytwain - for broad street, my only advice is to take the train to the start if you can, and if you are in one of the back pace groups, and it is cold out, just hang out in the subway station until right before the race to stay warm. Otherwise enjoy the straightest course you'll ever get to run on in your life, and enjoy the crowds & awesome support.
